  1. This Tourney event is this Saturday - Sept. 24th - 8AM - 6PM. Aurora, Oregon. Follow the link for specific info https://www.rostisgambit.com Prizes for top 3 finishers along with best painted prize. 16 spots... most are accounted for - but at last check I think a couple spots were still open. -d
  2. take a look at the alternatives that you could print... that nice new resin printer wants to be put to a good purpose. Seriously, the choices on MyMini Factory and other patreons sites... are seriously awesome - and unique - and you can print them when your ready to build a nice new proxy army 🙂 -d
  3. hmmm 6:30 -7:30 ish... I will have to think about - I am off work and heading home at 3:30 lol... but maybe I can figure something out or meet someone early Thursdays to get a game in before the main event. -d
  4. When are they playing at Glimpses? I work near there and typically drop in at lunch every few weeks. But I would really like to get back to something of a normal play schedule. I was just learning when Covid started - so just haven't gotten back into it. -d
  5. I will have to plan on making it down to Salem to check out that event. -d
  6. I don't know much about that printer or company - looks nice - but a enclosure isn't to difficult to piece together. My set up is a 4x6x6 Costco style shelving rack... with plexiglass panels and some insulation board. Add a small heater and exhaust fan to a simple greenhouse style power controller - and your good to go. https://torgsblog.files.wordpress.com/2021/06/img_1637-2.jpg?w=576
  7. How large are you looking? What do you currently have? If your lookin for just build volume - then probably the enders... the Prusa mk3 isn't a huge printer - (I do love mine) - but have been looking at the Anycubic Kobra Max after seeing some decent reviews. But if you wait a few months something newer and "better" will hit the market lol. -d
  8. I probably had the most fun playing RT-compendium era (HARLEQUINS!)... although I probably played more 4th or 5th... got out for a bit and thought 9th would be good - I dove back into it a few years ago when it came out - but it just gets so bloated so quickly over the last few editions its hard to enjoy it anymore. I haven't played 40k for about a year and a half by now - so maybe it got better again somehow? I would think the next edition will drop in a year ... maybe I will take another look in 10th ed. -d
  9. FYI - Here is a link to the Bolt Action / Rostis Gambit event site - with the event and sign up info. https://www.rostisgambit.com
  10. I don't have all the details - but a Bolt Action game day tourney will be happening in Aurora, Oregon (space reserved - plans stuff worked out) on Sept. 24th ... 1250pts ("Armies Of..." lists - LVO style prep). This will be announced at the Rose City Comic Con. - space may be limited (16) - which is why no big announcement as of yet. Anyhow, I am not sure how many here play Bolt Action - but I thought I would toss out a heads up. -d
  11. Hmmm so far mostly this year I have listened to... in a rough order- The Fifth Season - N.K. Jemisin The Obelisk Gate - N.K. Jemisin The Stone Sky - N.K. Jemisin Excellent series - I devoured these 3 ... I just couldn't stop listening- and had to find spaces where I could continue to listen to this story play out. I really found the take on sci-fi / fantastic ... post apocalyptic world building to be mesmerizing. Interface - Neal Stephenson Hey - this seems too realistic lol. Another fun story from Stephenson. Shards of Earth - Adrian Tchaikovsky This... was a very intriguing space-opera story - and it was hard to put down. I couldn't wait to get the next book in the series - which I just finished a week or so ago lol. The Wisdom of Crowds - Joe Abercrombie Grim Dark Fantasy ... political intrigue - scum - villains - heroes? sometimes The Sandman & The Sandman Act 2 (both in prep for the show - rather than going back though my comics lol) It has been a long time since I read my comics for The Sandman - the stories are still mostly locked in memory - These were good radio drama style listenings to add fuel to the fire before the series starts on Netflix Day Zero - C. Robert Cargill A follow up to another droid future book I read - was OK... fun but not that memorable. The Kaiju Preservation Society - John Scalzi Short and fun - excellent pandemic fodder. Recorder - Cathy McCrumb I love to check out new writers ... this was a good listen - world building sci fi. The story seemed to slowly build - but was left with questions to be continued in a book two at some point. Soon I hope. The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin Classic listen. In Emergency Break Glass - Nate Anderson An anti-tech sorta take on Nietzsche - the distractions of our modern trappings - and what that means for how we live our lives. Eyes of the Void - Adrian Tchaikovsky Excellent new series - Lots of stuff going on - but very memorable characters and scenes. I will be sad when this series comes to an end. Great space opera that doesn't feel like a re-skin of other space opera. -d
  12. Hmmm I’ll have to check it out… see what they have besides GW stuff. Glimpses in Sherwood is where I typically go at lunch from work / but this new store would be almost as close.
  13. I am not sure this will show... but slapped together... fonts and all graphics could change - the helmet could be a different style of course rather than the spartan helm.
  14. lol - all good points to keep in your head. What about the cube being a die? either a d6 or some other polyhedron style. I am not sure a whole gantry is needed - also if your printing with resin as well as FDM it would be hard to show in a meaningful way as you say. What about a d10... printing your helm idea? the d10 is on its point like a nozzle (with numbers or letters in perspective) ... filament printing is more identifiable... the helm is simple.. but visually a helm ... maybe unfinished (ie. being printed). Keep the type "Scotts printing" ...etc to the side or under... not over the graphic. just brainstorming... spitballing. ... give me a few ... I will sketch this out.
  15. about your logo noodling - I work in prepress ( fixing designers work to print realistically - physically (labels or boxes). Do you know how you will plan to have your logo used? will you plan to print labels with it... will it go on boxes, t-shirts- hats? embroidering or silkscreen or standard offset? Or just business cards or advertising? OR will it only be used on your web presence? Knowing how you intend to use your logo... will help to inform its design. Multi color cost more when printed - special colors vs "stock ink" costs more - etc. Having an easy to print and easy to distinguish logo is key. Your noodling is too busy - hard to read and figure out what is going on - and none have been memorable. Think about the logo like a brand on livestock. It should be simple and easy to spot - and it is helpful for it to convey what you do. It doesn't have to be an all in one piece of artwork - tagline and extra text can come below or after the logo mark. Look at the big modern logos that you know of ... none are busy - most have a one color easy version to spot - some have multi color versions but they are basic colors and registration. COKE, IBM, APPLE, Windows, Nike, Pepsi... heck even Amazon has a dick pic - recognizable for centuries to come (lol). Point is - less is more... keep noodling - but think about how you plan on using it. -d
  16. I initially told Rostis Gambit about Ordo... as a place to discuss and promote events... but it seems that most if not all of the folks currently playing with the group are not from Ordo. When I did the game day back in march none of my opponents had barely knew of Ordo. I pointed them to check out Ordo - Bolt Action seems like the first real war-game for most of them ... historical WW2 is an easier sell than 40k or something similar. - again at the game day ... the majority of the players are way younger than the typical Ordo event crowd. Although, I may not be the best judge for that... I would say that most of the game day for bolt action were in the sub 30 year olds... with a few old timers like myself sprinkled in lol. -d
  17. Well the group having the game days down in Aurora has a Facebook on Rosti’s Gambit page. Rostis Gambit here on Ordo is the organizer. (My Son's Girlfriend's father... also the mayor (former / current?) of Hubbard lol) Although the wargaming discussion is kinda light on the facebook group - things are really kinda newly evolving over the last year or so I think. -d
  18. unfortunately, I am out of the area this weekend - so I will be missing this one. -d
  19. interested - depending on dates and time of course. -d
  20. judging by how the current war is going... it seems legit with Russian equipment lol

    hmmm this is a thing?
  23. hmmm layer separation ... tried adjusting retract speeds ... lift speed...light off times along with exposure times? Assuming you have. 2" consistent issue - checked screw or rails for anomalies ... grease or something causing a semi-random skip. What big printer is it? Saturn, monoX or something else? I am just curious - only only have a Mars 2 Pro... but keep looking at the larger options coming out. Run the head all the way up and down ... manually without the tank... just to see if you notice a skip or lag. Closely examine the rails and screw ... some chunk of something get into the path and needs to be cleaned out? Very strange. Assuming you have done all the normal stuff - I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Typically I just over expose till things print ... then dial back ... before changing FEP. -d
  24. got the book - have yet to try it... looking forward to it this summer I hope. Also got into some of the other Mörk Borg themed stuff - Forbidden Psalm (mini game) and Void Grimm (sci-fi rpg). Also backed kickstarter - "the last war" (mini skirmish game). -d
  25. You can pick up transfer paper for a laser printer… white is hard (more expensive) but other colors over a lighter paint would be cheaper to do.
