  1. OK - I have 5 players MNG… I have 11 exactly to play with next game. But 4 of those are secret weapons. Can I hire journeymen or do I have to go with the 11 I have - play all the special weapons in my first possession and then all of them get thrown out after that… leaving me with only 7 players for the rest of the game? Just want to be straight with my options here. I was thinking I could hire journeymen - but I thought that was just if you didn't have 11 whom could play. please verify - whomever I play will have a fairly easy match (easier). -d
  2. thats just silly… so if you have no Realm of Battle set up… you would purchase it to use? seems silly to me. Sure… you could use it without realm of battle boards. But based on the OP intention (imo) its just not worth the time and $ unless you already have realms of battle. Otherwise its more expensive than other options ( Aquilla standpoint or diy).
  3. meh - you have to have the battle boards to really use this one right - not very positional (build into a realm of battle board) - you can only turn the square R or L… thats it. From a gamer point of view - I have already picked up the Aquilla strongpoint - for those Apoc games and other big games. It's many times more versatile and is about 50$ cheaper…. and very customizable -kit bash or even adding more of the strongpoints or wall formations. If someone likes the look of this FW fortification - you could build one out of foam and bits… or a fraction of the cost… can probably much cooler :). Although if you already use the Realm of Battle boards - I guess its a nice option. For me - its a pass with nary a side glance. -d
  4. when bending I found the hottest water straight out of the faucet in my house. For me thats the master bathroom as its right behind the wall from the water heater. Then I crank the hot on … let it run till its nice and hot (as much as its limited to be)… then I have a shallow bowl or pan to put cold water into… thats also big enough to place the figure or part being bent. Then I use either my hands or other tools to bend the part while its under the hot water coming out of the tap. I will do this for a minute or so (depending on the part being bent)… holding it in position - I pull it out of the hot water and place it into the cold water bowl. Repeating as much as needed. For me the water out of the tap is set pretty hot… so it typically only takes a few tries to get it where I want it. -typically I do this with FW cast stuff - but I have done it once or twice for "fine cast" as well. -good luck. -d
  5. I'll be there for my BB match with mr. Bigglesworth… aiming for 4. -d
  6. already answered this… back a few pages - but no ranged D… so no vortex… no scorpion or cobra. Last year - they were ok to bring. So - yes it has changed. I have some ideas about what to do for my Army - it just won't be the planned army - rather just an update to last years army. -d
  7. wow - this is pretty far off the rails now… - anyhow, it seems to me it doesn't matter what justification was used for the ITC (and still not sure why they matter) - it is what it is. Banshee's still stuck… what was the other concern? Was it the attempt at a monopoly of rules and restrictions of all 40k gaming events nation wide (world wide) - by a irrelevant third party? I understand the fuss - I know its changed my OFCC plans… but in the end of it all - if the events I go to - plan to use this ITC as a guide to how the game I play - is played. And if I disagree with the rulings - I can avoid future conflicts by not going to those events. Either the players and event organizers empower the ITC by falling in line to enforce / endorse it. Or they choose not to do so… and by choice of where to go and spend $ for events - the validity of the ITC to the community will work itself out. What I would have liked - to to have known that the ITC rulings were (or if they were being used) before I committed my $ to be at an event. Next time I will be more careful or patient … to verify what the event organizer will be doing. -d
  8. ahhh… yes that list - the Scorpion, Cobra and Lynx were all on that list… as ok. -d
  9. ?… seems fun - utterly random … maybe we have different definitions of fun. Besides - I was thinking a jet bike and flyer type list… to stay out of the way lol
  10. what was that list for last year that had the super heavies that were acceptable? (last year)… I had it but now I can't find it. I am sure the scorpion was on it… and the lynx. I imagine its all outdated now though. -d
  11. The point of the vortex in my case isn't to be super strong…. its random mayhem … which is fun right? no go on the cobra… at least the book I have states its a D…. so… back to the drawing board on OFCC. But 90% looking back at my WraithWall from last year. Maybe a few list modifications - but otherwise as is.
  12. I got you mr. Biggles! … the gobbos picked up a fanatic - should be fun times next tuesday. -d
  13. … make a team…join the league……
  14. hmmm I could just bring my Eldar Cobra… -maybe… its not technically a "d"… but I am sure it will feel like it … I will have to check my book again.
  15. exactly - I did talk to the person whom had the vortex missile base… and I do think he lost all the games. - lots of people were up in arms about my 3 hornets with pulse lasers last year… but they were never a factor lol. Anyhow - it isn't that big of a deal - I think. With the new Eldar Codex coming - my time to really flesh out my army is pretty short anyhow - not knowing what will change. I may be better off with the wraithwall updates. is 2 WraithKnights OTT? lol
  16. -- BAH… your logic doesn't belong here!
  17. last year a guy (maybe more than one person) had an Aquilla Strongpoint with the vortex missles… looked like fun lol. I had plans to have it in my carnival theme - but thats out. So - I will think about how much work I want to do (vs. how much time I have to do it.) At this point a slightly re-tooled wraithwall from last year may be my leading option. I don't have a lynx… but they look nice :). I get the reasons for no ranged D… I am ok with the ruling - I was just basing my ideas off last year. - and with limited time till OFCC this year (mid july is less than 4 months away)… I am not sure I can pull off other options effectively to my standards. As much as I would like to do harlequins… maybe better off not trying to rush it. -d
  18. hmmm not what I was told on tuesday by the Hog when I asked the question regarding ranged D. - although - I will double check with him next week to be sure… maybe their was confusion about what I was playing (although I was on a team last year … and never been in the open in the past). -d
  19. wow- ¼ of my OFCC army plan is blown out of the water… back to the drawing board … or maybe just tweak last years army
  20. You know this how? are you a multi-national manufacturer of gaming materials … and plastics? - I am sorry but molds (depending on the cavity sizes) are 10's of thousands…each. Molding machines 100's of thousands each - again depending on size - close to a million. Molding machines are technical and require competent folks to maintain the machines. (although this is probably all done in china I guess)… resin isn't cheap (from petroleum)… electricity as well for those molding machines is huge. I know when we ran 13 sumitomo injection molding machines in our portland plant… we were a favorite customer of PGE ( and we had a substation across the street). 10's of thousands in electric bills. Then the people whom work there to pack boxes …etc. is it in china? not sure. Anyhow, shipping costs for all that - isn't cheap either. Then - the "brains" of the company … in the UK… well along with the "creatives" (designers of mini's , layout - book/media designers, rules/codex and media writers… artists for all the "art" beyond that)… IT to oversee it … all the equipment to do said creative work (not cheap stuff). Then marketers… sales etc. Customer serves… stocking/shipping warehouse folks - janitors… facility overhead etc. Then there is the "managers"… big wigs and accountant types. … the daily, quarterly - annual overhead in all those folks "benni's". - property costs - taxes/ etc… What am i forgetting? Point is… what is GW's current profit clear of all there costs/overhead world wide? - minus R&D… and upkeep - turnover… and spoilages? - trying to figure out how… how much is "enough" money to balance a game for tournament play? When GW is on the record of not making a game for said tournament play? -d
  21. I don't know… maybe your just doing it wrong… from GW's how to play the game point of view? (just a thought) Also - GW isn't flooded with money … books cost money… molds for plastics… LOTs of money … injection molding machines… again money. They are not something like Apple with a billion -billion in profits. They have to try and run to a profit quarter to year…etc. We know from other sources (including GW) that they tend to design "cool" mini's… then design rules for them. They don't have the time or resources to update every single codex - or rule in the game since its conception… (1988/89??). They pick and choose - I imagine pitches are made for new things… etc. Reality of what is popular (SM) dictates some things to updated sooner. It's a company with idiots and or salesmen ( ) like any other… there are designers (maybe hard to deal with ones too)…. and those F'n accountants. And of course a manager or three whom don't even know what business they are in. On top of that - share holders…. Just trying to point out - its a messy company - just like ones we work in (or at least like mine lol). There are IDIOTS in the system… and there are folks whom love what they do - they just wonder why they show up each day lol. Anyhow - i'm rambling (nothing new)… my point is that GW does what they do - because of many factors - lots of which are unknown and without logic. But they have a huge range and a really deep franchise of fluff and universe to pull from. Also - more than just 40k of course. I wouldn't put much stock into the releases and what they release when they do… let alone about rules lol. - I think I lost my point… anyhow - just play and have fun -d
  22. thanks for the game EB! - gobbo's lost to the evil dwarfs 1-2. But hey - I got a TD and no dead goblins after the first match! -d
  23. as much as I want to see age of ultron… (& vision)… I have been wanting to see this for over a year. If I had to choose I would see this WEEKS before age of ultron :) … I cannot wait. -d
  24. is this different than the other one released like last week? CAN NOT WAIT! -d
