  1. Unless one gets bored easily (me) you only need the main rule book and the Codex for the army you specialize in. And after so many years, there isn't much to buy for most armies thats strictly speaking necessary. So in some ways i kinda wonder if peoples eyes dont already start bigger than their wallet because they are trying to chase the power curve like a bad investor chases gains. Some of this comes down to expectations. Upgrading my IG only required, strictly speaking, about $120. I bought more but have yet to even use the other stuff... So... I like the suggestion earlier to start painting and modeling a lot more and really getting the gains you have in shape. Maybe make the money you already have spent worth more. I like the idea. maybe I should take that advice myself. =)
  2. The site is now reflecting many of the updates you will need to attend! Ambassadorial Registration
  3. I am glad i dont work for anyone else. I would hate for some of these economic horror stories to come to pass for me. 2008 rocked everyone. But the dividends i see GW paying out tell me what I need to know: They have room NOT to be doing this to us. I put up a post but didn't hear a lot on it. Their dividends have been unearthly. Stock price is definitely NOT how you need to look at this company. Yeesh. Oh Blessed EBAY, protect us. I mean you can totally keep up with this hobby through used models and honestly who cares if they're used? Most dont. 7th Edition is uber fun though.
  4. I've got a Dark Eldar army up, if you're looking to play OR flip it. Its listed on Rogue Trading. If you're a good flipper, you'll make money on it I'm sure. He's clearing the garage.
  5. yeah we took a while in a recent game to get through that. oofta.
  6. I wish someone had a model of Lord Farquar. Such hilarity if you could get that model a glamour shot.
  7. For those who attended the Ambassadorial Tournaments, you know that everyone is given a door prize to play with, before the festivities begin; It's worth about $25! In addition we provide lunch and refreshments. This year will be no exception. We will be placing pics of the tournament dice up soon, but just wanted to let you know that our sponsor, the author of the Fox Elvensword series of books George Alan Butler, is once again supporting us all in our love of fantasy. The last Ambassadorial Tournaments dice are favorites for a lot of people, and they see a lot of action. The new ones will have new colors and will expand your existing stash. This year we are doing something different. The Ambassador who wins, in addition to the prizes you would normally expect, will be receiving a SPECIAL set of dice, different from the rest, to commemorate his or her win. As akways, their name will be engraved onto the ACTUAL Elvensword, a relic we describe in full on the website. We anticipate that it will be about 100% larger prize support, and it was not small last time to begin with. I think we gave prizes for 1st -5th place last year. More to come.
  8. My friend is clearing house. The initial buyer put earnest money down on it, but looks like he may have trouble completing the trade. This is about a $900 Dark Eldar Army, all classic models. Ive inspected it and its in perfect shape, ready to receive paint and untainted by badly glued gaps and nothing to fix. If you like the classic look of Dark eldar, this is for you and it's perfect for someone getting into the hobby who wants to have a large point force to morph to his will. He is strictly looking for cash. He wants $500 for it. It literally has just about everything you'd want to get an army started, especially the vehicles. Might need to add a couple Venoms but other than that... 11 incubi 60 Warriors 4 Raiders 1 Raider + Ravager conversion kit 2 OLD school Grotesques (they are just a curiosity thats cool) 10 wyches 2 Talos 10 Kymerae Urien Rakarth Haemonculae 10 Jetbikes.
  9. I'm not going to OFCC, but I WILL be interested to see how all these Detachment mixes work themselves out. Wraith armies, which I have recently had occasion to play against quite a bit, are pretty decent. The crazy Wraithblade units you can use are awfully intimidating when you first face it though their low number of attacks turn out to be a big deal against more capable combatants. Still, they do hit hard and they wont break so no matter win or lose, both sides get a pretty good tussle out of the bargain.
  10. D'oh. Took my first loss of 7E last night. Flying Daemon Circus fought my Eldar Air Force. But in the process of that loss I discovered some ridiculously awesome stuff I can do. Flying Monstrous Creatures are in for it now!
  11. the Templates thing is big news. I find it very cool that you can give those orks some of their own medicine when thye try the old Burna boyz trick.
  12. New blog is up on 7th Edition. Dashneeb, Im happy to hear you had fun playing Maelstrom missions. I think for casual games they are kind of suddenly my "go to" option. I'll probably stuill practice for tournies using the Eternal War missions but man... maelstrom... Cant say it enough times.
  13. ZEKE is being modest. He has some of the nicest WWII tanks you'll ever swim with on display.
  14. Hey I could just use your collection then! I can play any army pretty well so it doesn't really matter, especially with Dartboard 40K. PM sent. 14th and 28th are, I think, open. OCC has a cool charity tourney they are running on the 21st In any event, PM me backi if you are fer serious.
  15. I think my reason was eye surgery and recovery, not reticense. :)
  16. You kit each unit and then roll again, so you do it before you game. This is just a fun way to play. who really cares what happens after turn 1 starts? Its not like theres any shame in the loss nor glory in the win. Its just a chance to quaff root beers and kick some arse.
  17. well the few times we did it, we did it at my house and i uh...dont lack for options. Besides we did the list building ahead fo time and then just brought the army over to play.
  18. museum of flight isnt far and in oregon they have like an old submarine you can go play in. Cool.
  19. Basically you go through each slot of the force org and roll randomly to see what unit you get. So for Example we would go to HQ, roll a die and see what random leader we got. Kor'Sarro Khan. Okay fine. Then we go to troops. Scout squad. Great. then we go to heavies: Thunderfire cannon gets rolled. okay! And so on. So you get kind of an eclectic mix of stuff and you then play against each other. Its pretty fun.
