  1. Painting is pretty hard for me. My eyes are just not awesome. Its a physical hardship to sit down and do it. i would like to catch up, but i think I need painting buddies to get the amount of crap i have done. My collection is oppressively large and my time oppressively small.
  2. Those ones for repentia would be pretty cool.
  3. Well you know the Law of Lord Hanaur, so there is that: "That which is awesome must be fielded"
  4. well I will enjoy the challenge of learning tactica. Thats kinda what I enjoy aboutthe game is figuring out the puzzle of ways to get this there by that time so that this or that can happen and the thing over there will explode just so... and then theres the Plan B mechanations and how to figure your way out of bad situations. All gonna' be new. will terrain be better dealt with? so on. MAN, and whoever did the Fantasy 8E book...DO THIS ONE. Even though they really flubbed on some of the Fantasy rules and KILLED Fantasy in my area, the layout of that book is just gorgeous and so many good pics for examples and.... I mean its really a work of art even though i didn't like the rules as much.
  5. I think they are good though. There are some things that kind of scare them now though. It's not overpowered and one cant help but feel it was a codex much more designed for 6E and it was just ahead fo its time.
  6. WHERE: GAME MATRIX 8610 S Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499 (253) 583-9708 WHEN: May 31 2014 See the schedule Below WHAT: 1999 point Warhammer 40,000 WHY: Because you worked so hard on your forces and you need a place to try them out for realsies WHO: You and every friend you can muster or tell about this event. Find a friend and bring them. It’s silly not to travel in packs. And so maybe two or three friends then. and maybe bring 10 or twenty of those packs. What does this mean for you and your life as a gamer? Well so glad you asked! It means that those of you who have been putting off painting now have no excuse. It’s an excuse to get some work done and win some stuff. Should be good times. There are a few things that are bound to need attention so let me start right off: A. $20 per person. 1. We are not using Stronghold, nor Escalation rules for this particular event. WE WILL BE USING 6TH EDITION. 2. You can use any official Codex and Codex Supplements, and any non-Escalation or Stronghold related rules that you can provide rules for to your opponent before, during, and after the game. 3. Forge World RULES will not be used. Forge World Models can be used as appropriate proxies so long as they require no extensive explanation to your opponent and are more or less the correct dimensions. 4. When “time” is called, if the current round is not complete, you will return to the previous rounds victory condition total to see who won. You must complete the entire rounds events for the round to count. Rounds are over when the judge tells you they are over. If your clock contradicts that of the judge, the judges clock will be the one we use. 5. SLOW PLAYING WILL NEVER BE OKAY. For those unfamiliar with that term, it means that you intentionally slow down the game in order to avoid losing. Certain armies are like thundering hammer blows in the early going, but they take it in the shorts later on. Tau are a good example of an army that can be up by 6 KP’s before they start losing things...but they lose them pretty rapidly later. So if a Tau player was himming and hawing and generally going slow to avoid the loss, I would have no compunction about issuing a warning or even a Victory Point Penalty. If that warning does not have the desired effect, I will simply exclude you from prize consideration. So, your best bet if time is running down and there may or may not be enough time to finish another round, don’t sit around discussing it. Just mark what the current Victory condition totals are and play on. Then if the next round truly cannot be completed in GOOD FAITH, then you return to that previous completed rounds score as your final one. Prizes in General: You can win multiple prizes. If you win Best Sportsman, you win it. If you win Best General, you get that too. Makes no sense to give a title like Best Sportsman to someone who was third best for example. Just doesn’t. Prizes will be determined by the number of players present. Best General and Best Sportsman are guaranteed to be prizes. It’s simple math: we want the prize to be worth the effort. So if you tell EVERYONE, FACEBOOK EVERYONE and generally don’t procrastinate nor let up in your recruiting of players for the event; and don’t let any bias get in the way of having a good time, then we should have no problem giving more prizes. =). If we reach 12 players, Best Painted will have a Prize. If we reach 16, here will be a prize for Best General. 6. Bring your main rule book, Codex FAQ, Templates, Dice, objective Markers etc... so others don't have to borrow you theirs. Painting Requirement: We will not judge paint with a rubric, but we will REQUIRE painting. Any unpainted models can and will be be permanently removed from play for the tournament by a judge. Don’t act offended when it happens. You have now been told ahead of time that all models must meet the three color standard (Base color, contrasting color and probably weapons or something). If there is a prize for paint, it will be player voted, not judged by me (because the Good Lord knows I have no business judging it). Each player will inspect the armies during our lunch break and name their favorite. Most votes wins. Tie goes to the person with the least number of wins. Makes it worth painting no matter whether you win or lose, don’t you think? Other Stuff: Make your life easy: bring a display board. So much easier to move armies about and display them and people like them. A plank or even a McDonald Tray is better than loading and unloading from a bag. Just a suggestion, not a requirement. QUESTIONS: We ALL forget rules! There are a LOT of codex’s with many rules interactions and then there are FAQ’s that create another layer of possible discussion. In addition, the parallax effect can make us see things differently from one another on blasts and so on. Talk about it for a minute, look it up (The index works great) and if you cannot agree (and it happens), dice it off so you don’t get into a slow play situation. But if you feel like it is imperative to the outcome of the game, or maybe neither one of you feels sure ENOUGH to make a call on it either way, then call for a judge. Rulings are final until the tourney is over and will be the best attempt at correctitude we can make at the time. Sadly, we’re wrong sometimes. But if a decision HAS to be made by a third party, we’ll make it. Better that you ask before the tourney (see the schedule?) or you and your opponent settle it to continue having fun. Schedule: 10:00 Registration. Pay up folks. 10:15 Announcements and repeating one self for those who didn’t bother to read this. Go over oddball FAQ questions, preferably with a focus on being cool to one another. Occam s Razor is the rule. 10:25 Tables assigned and moving of armies begins. 10:45 to 1:30 Round 1 1:30 Set your army up for inspection and voting. You never know! 1:45 Voting on Paint. 2:00 to 2:30 Lunch 2:30 Matchups announced, shuffling of armies 2:45 to 5:00: Round 2! 5:15 Matchups announced, shuffling of Armies begins 5:30 to 7:45 SPEED ROUND 3, Cause Champions go fast. 8:00 Prizes announced and Forum fills with joyous “what a great time I had” accolades, because we all know no one ever complains after a tournament afterwards (tongue in cheek here) 8:15 After tourney Gaming to include...well any game you want. Cause it’s your time. Flames of War, War Machine, Warhammer...you name it, they have it.
  7. I found assault Cannon Razor spam to be quite frightening. They kill everything and if you bring enough, you kill a lot of everything. And since Rhino hulls aren't too tough, it's not like its a cheddar thing to do either. Its good firepower but can be whittled. So it feels like a good idea. I spose the rest of the list would decide things, but I do think its a solid and RELIABLE way to get quality firepower in there.
  8. And confirmation! the Game matrix will once again provide significant prize support for this tournament on May 31.
  9. I missed out on the sale and I'd say my chances of playing it is probably zero. I don't have the same passion for that story.
  10. Well the Space marine Codex would be a LOT more awesome for my Raven guard if they did get rid of the Bulky thing and just said "Jump packs cant board transports."
  11. The main rulebook isn't likely to override the codex entries that say "bulky" etc... ironically i somehow ended up with 10 Chaos Blood Letters for no apparent reason, and could now use them if I was so inclined. But thats probably just too wierd for my blood unless its my Chaos Space marine army doing it
  12. I doubt seriously that you will dispel. It will be more like Counterspelling. You get your chance WHEN they manifest the power and must decide if you want to use YOUR dice to Deny the Witch. Two possibilities. One is that your own manifesting dice can be used to boost Deny the witch (instead of comparative levels which is how its done now) OOOOOR you might just have to beat whatever they got on their dice with your dice Denying the Witch was mentioned, so its a mechanic for sure. Very interested to see what happens. I am not real convinced that this is even an issue we will have much opinion on, compared to when they did "book powers" to begin with. Boy when people caught on to those book powers, the arms race was on.
  13. While Brother Glacius's suggestion probably has a lot of merit, i am inclined to agree with InfestedKerrigan on the 7th Edition thing. it is very difficult to give out specific list building suggestions that wont just end up costing YOU money that may prove later to be ill advised. If this were an existing force I'd give you ideas from the opponents point of view. But right now, all I might do is mislead you. Enjoy your games and keep painting as InfestedKerrigan said. A brave new world is coming.
  14. Y You've read the rumor on the new missions right?
  15. Yeah and the D3 Vortex Grenade mission where they float around the table is actually kinda interesting.
  16. I put no inherent value in the rules being "compact", given that the book by and large becomes a reference manual once you understand the game itself. But whjat I was referring to is that they just need to remind players IN the main Rulebook of the rule in the Rules supplment regarding Alter of War missions. I wasn't suggesting they add them directly. Just that they codify it in the main rule book.
  17. Alter of War missions are pretty good. I think they need to address that in the main rule book.
  18. Kay. Im running it so I really cant get out of it. I enjoy the games days at your house. Kinda bummed to miss it again. On the plus side, it's all Warhammer.
  19. Any chance of moving your get together to the Game Matrix? They are providing really awesome prize support for it. =)
  20. Ther Tournament at the Game Matrix is on 5/31. Same kind of prize suppot as last time = AWESOME. Is there another day close to this that it can be set?
  21. I am sure that this will be an apology edition in some ways. They have to make it look good and a complete project so Hasbro doesn't have another "4E" incident on its hands when they buy GW.
  22. So tactically what I think will happen is the Megablob Conscripts etc are just there to wrap the artillery so wide that no melta can get into juice range of the artillery ever (potentially only allowing multimeltas a shot) and the megablobs lascannons will just fire away fearlessly to the end. The Artillery will effectively be invulnerable to all but essentially the same kind of barrage list or terrible luck. The Demolishers not only trundle behind the Melee blob to utterly ruin armor and enemies but also to draw fire from the more important artillery end game wise. Yeah it would be nice to keep the Demolishrs alive but in the end, enemies will have better lines of site and more inclination to kill the Demolishers first. the melee blob takes up a lot of space so it can stymie flyers to SOME extent or at least direct their path. The Mega blob will already be spread out and fairly uncaring of even Heldrakes, though I imagine not above shooting one down if theres nothing better to do. And the hit and run is just icing that will stop anyone from altering the blobs intentions. That is my take on it. As for tweaks and such, others have said enough on that but thats how I see it playing. Am i close?
