In conclusion, bring your glencairn to OFCC for the finer things in life!

This is truth! It even made sake more tasty... anything small pour gets elevated.

  2. Okay new development... these glasses are AMAZING! The wife now likes whiskey. After last night's successful test I looked closely at the whiskey and found there was a substantial amount more in our bottle of Four Roses bourbon. I decided to have a dram and Sarah joined me, she loves how these little glasses help separate the yummy from the alcohol.

Totally recommend picking them up not only for the discerning sipper but also for the newbie who may not even know they like whiskey!

  3. Update time! Decided I needed to test if there was a difference with these glencairn glasses over say just a shot glass. With a gathering on Friday I was reluctant to use my small collection of whiskey and wanting to try and exclude placebo effect from my excitement I chose some nice vodka.

Why vodka? Less complicated nose, taste and my wife will drink it! I can now say these glencairn absolutely make a difference. The vodka was basically odorless in the shot glass and mostly tasteless as expected (slightly starchy which was why I have it). In the glencairn I was able to detect potato notes on nose alone! The taste was more than just starchy it was full potato with a sweet note towards the end.

Beyond what I was able to discern the wife was like "wow that vodka has flavor!" This puts the placebo effect to bed.

I am beyond excited to have a four whiskey tasting this Friday with these glasses! Each one already has proven to have different discernable flavors in just shot glass this is gonna be better!

  4. I feel like there needs to be more bourbon or at least more whiskey talk... I got a set of glencairn crystal whiskey glasses... I have some stuff to put in them but it won't last. What is something I should consider getting? I'm looking more mass market to start so I can taste while paying myself back for the glasses...

That's just in the space marine codex?

Yep, salamanders are very forgiving while encouraging you to remember rerolls since every unit gets them regularly. They encourage MSU and dreadnoughts get the rerolls too. Helps eliminate blaming the dice excuses and facilitates learning the game and tactics.

Highly recommend them single book and models that can be slanted differently as he grows in the hobby, marines are so flexible!

  6. Hi, my name is Kevin. I've been attending the OFCC since 2011 (mostly 40k, sometimes Fantasy). I've been collecting Dark Eldar since 5th ed.

The theme here is speed, pure, unadulterated speed. Kabal obsession: +3 movement for vehicles (and ignore cover); Wych Cult obsession: may advance and charge, re-roll charges; Harlequin masque form: may advance and fire assault weapons with no -1 penalty; Craftworld attribute: re-roll charges, bikers may move and fire heavy weapons with no penalty.

for initial list see further in thread, as lists become more final it'll be here...

  7. Well I Corey have decided on a list, or possibly rather time decided for me... I'll be running codex Marines using salamanders rules. This thing is rocking it old school single source and just one detachment.

It is a brigade consisting of

HQs: Captain, Terminator Librarian and a Techmarine.

Troops: five different 6 man tactical squads (2 plasma gun Combi plasma, 2 storm bolter multi melta, 1 storm bolter heavy bolter) and a 5 man scout squad (heavy bolter).

Elites are dreads who do you think I am? Venerable with multi melta close combat storm bolter, standard with twin lascannon missile launcher, and an Iron clad with hurricane bolter heavy flamer seismic hammer.😁

Fast attack: single multi melta attack bike and two 5 man assault squads (lightning claw plasma pistol Sarge with 2 plasma pistol specialists each)

Heavy support: 3 man centurion devestators (6 heavy bolters, 2 chest missiles, hurricane bolter), 6 man devestator squad (2 missile launchers, 1 lascannon), and a thunder fire cannon.

Then for points and to make those assault Marines useful a dedicated transport DROP POD! Yeah that's right finally cheap enough.

All in all surprised at how much bling I was able to afford for this many Marines.
