  1. Agreed on all counts @Ish. Another thing to look at is the Impulsor/Death Company (with no jetpacks) combo. Impulsors allow your troops to disembark after the Impulsor has moved rather than having to have your troops pile out before moving most other transports. This would allow you to run up the board Turn 1 with your 14'' move (coupled with an advance if you so choose), and then drop off your Death Company after another 14'' move. This would guarantee a Turn 2 Charge that would coincide with reinforcements and another Jump Pack Death Company squad that has been yeeted up the board by the "Before the Game Starts Death Company get a free move" stratagem. Just spit balling, but could be useful.

  2. Another great thing about Blood Angels is that they are a close combat army that excels in getting into close combat without having to rely on things like Rhino rushes or Drop Pods. Descent of Angels (I believe that's the name) is an amazing stratagem that allows you to roll 3d6 when you make a charge with a jump pack unit (which may have had to have deep struck at the end of the most recent movement phase). Dropping in some Sanguinary Guard with various weapon loadouts and popping that Stratagem will reliably get an expensive, but very killy unit, into combat. Baal Predators will perhaps make a comeback with the Blast Rule and kitting them out with Flamers would be a great idea. Roll that bad boy into range of a mob of enemies and watch the unit melt like the Ark in Indiana Jones.

  3.  Just to double check that I have everything in order before I start buying books:

    • Everyone's current Codex and content from Psychic Awakening is supported in 9th Ed
    • Chapter Approved 2020 is invalidated by the new set of point changes that dropped recently (?)

Please check me on the above points, as I want to know if I need to pick up CA 2020 to get my most up to date points values. Unless I'm wrong, the "magic trio" are Rulebook, appropriate Psychic Awakening book, and the year's Chapter Approved. Thanks all!

In my idealized world, the main codex is the big fat $60 book and the supplements are thin little $30 books... maybe even $20 soft covers.

I would love to live in that world. Seriously tell me when you find it. Check to make sure it doesn't have Covid-19 first, then we'll head over that rainbow into that happy place.

  5. But even then I'm still in the same boat of having to buy my own Codex when it came out, probably later than the main Space Marine one, since all of our "special" stuff would be in its own book. This way the "big name" chapters get their own stuff at the same time as everyone else. I hope, since the Space Wolves won't have their own dedicated book, they won't skimp on the fluff which I do really enjoy. It would be nice to be caught up on galaxy events in the 41st Millennium since after Cadia fell and Vigilus became the new focal point I'm not sure what's really going on now in the "main storyline". That's probably because I haven't played 40k since last OFCC (sorry if mentioning OFCC was too soon).

  6. Yeah it felt bad as a Space Wolves player to be the last dog to the bowl last edition. It will be nice to not only be grouped in with the other Space Marine content, but get to see what all the other Space Marines get without having to go out and buy the "regular" Space Marines codex.

So then wouldnt this let you ignore up to AP2?

I believe the Salamander's Chapter Trait is to only ignore AP 1 weaponry. If a weapon is AP 2 or above then the trait doesn't apply. An auto bolt rifle's AP1 would be ignored, but a plasma gun's AP -3 wouldn't. It's an all or nothing trait. This is much like a Rubric Marines "All is Dust" ability. They normally get a +1 to their armor save if they get hit with a Dmg 1 weapon. However, if you hit them with anything but that then their armor bonus is nullified and they have to suffer the affects of the weapon's ap as well.

@SigurdBC Shane beat me up some so you should have an easy time finishing the job. I'm free to play Friday almost any time or Saturday after 10am MDT.

Well we'll see about that. A coach who underestimates what elves can do ends up losing the game and a bit of their sanity along with it. I'm free tomorrow and Monday as long as we got the game going by 3pm. Does that work for you?

Tomorrow about 10 would be good for me. If not that then we could do Monday morning.

Let's aim for Monday at 10am. 10am tomorrow cuts it a bit close for me getting lunch going and then off to work. I'll see you on Monday and hope for better Blood Bowl weather than my last game.

  10. Yeah that end of the game was weird @Spielmannsfluch. I was convinced that your skink had picked up the ball before making his million and one stunty dodges to get close to my endzone. I could have sworn the game bugged and your skink really had the ball when the ball was still displayed on the ground. That's why I sent to many dwarfs his way instead of after the ball. Yes indeed the skink hunting was good that day, and I even got to kill a saurus and injured your star skink, but alas we'll have to polish our brass knuckles going forward. Oh shoot did I say that out loud?

  11. Also with terrain being line of sight blocking there is a great chance that smart players will plan to charge enemy units from behind LOS blocking terrain thereby canceling out overwatch, assuming that overwatch in 9th will still require line of sight. Not sure if the devs discussed that in the post above.

  12. Full disclosure about my above post. I was stalling and fouling in the first half of Savion and my game today, because I feel that "winning" as dwarfs is removing as many opposing players as possible and keeping them off the pitch. I could have scored multiple turns in a row, but I wanted to maximize my blocks and potential fouling injuries from Flint (chainsaw Star Player) and so I held off. If you felt that this was unsportmanlike Savion, I do apologize, but against your team I did want to try and remove key players like your mummies. I 100% agree Ish that fouling on Turn 16 is a "foul" thing to do and I know I'll never do it. Best of luck in the rest of the league @savion47

  13. Acknowledged. Yeah I didn't realized you didn't know that concessions weren't allowed @savion47. Was a bit surprised that you conceded, even though the game was not going well for you at all. That first half was brutal. This leads me to a question for @Burk and for the teams in the league. Is stalling/fouling looked down upon by coaches in this league? I know that stalling is sometimes a valid strategy along with fouling "key" players on the opposing team to try and get them off the pitch. That being said, it doesn't matter if those two things are "a part of the game" if people don't want to deal with them when they play their games. Please weigh in if you feel strongly about this.
