nathonicus
Gonna go play the first game right now, and I'm super stoked. Jim, I will say the paper seems a little thinner than would be ideal, but I think the binding is right on the money. A gw-style perfect bound spine would not let the book lay open without cracking the spine. We'll see how it holds up. I am not worried about the spine, but I do feel I need to be careful of the pages.
Fix
These books read well and smell bad.
nathonicus
Quit sniffin' yer books! Played 300 points of Haqq vs. Nomads today, in Nimbus zone. Both of us were far too distracted by trying out new ways of killing each other to bother with the mission until the final round, when we each managed to run a specialist to a console to download some data for a tie. Yet to get to do any N3 hacking, but got a little taste of N3 close combat, and I really like it. Having decisions to make with the MA skill is a lot of fun, and the rules are so nicely streamlined now, that weird mind-breaking scenarios in the old book like markers moving into cc were really easy to understand and play properly. One thing I appreciated today is the refinement to movement made on a guts roll - now you can't go towards the enemy at all, even to get to better cover. This is nice, as previously, you could end up doing the enemy a favor by shooting him.
Fix
Quit sniffin' yer books! No sir, like audiobooks, my reading is expanding into new directions!
JMGraham
Started reading. Like it. Gonna maybe make "spell cards" for hacking, cause that's what it is now. Still don't like the binding. I appreciate that it's Smyth sewn, but would have immensely preferred a hardback for durability. Smyth-sewn hardbacks lay flat with no problem. A gw-style perfect bound spine would not let the book lay open without cracking the spine. GW hasn't done perfect-bound for ages. All are Smyth-sewn hardbacks these days. /booknerd
JMGraham
Oooooh! Everything's cheaper. My 300 point special operation Nomad lists no longer needs an Alguacil for an order monkey, it's now 2 Intruders, 2 Zeroes, 2 Spektrs, 2 Prowlers, and 2 Tomcats (instead of one Tomcat and an Alguacil). I like!
Dylan Gould
Gonna maybe make "spell cards" for hacking, cause that's what it is now. Somebody did a set already; if you want to check them out, see: http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26462-n3-hacking-reference-cards-1st-draft-need-proofreaders/ 2 Intruders, 2 Zeroes, 2 Spektrs, 2 Prowlers, and 2 Tomcats What equipment loadouts are you going with? JMGraham
Sweet! Going to format those for a POD place and get some cards! Typical loadout would be Intruders (combi / HMG), Zeroes (minelayer / FO), Spektrs (FO / sniper), Prowlers (spitfire / ADHL), Tomcats (engineer / doctor). Makes the Lt kind of obvious, but with all that camo the Lt can be hard to pin down. Not the best in a stand up fight, but tons of specialists and infiltration to get missions done quick. Only thing it's really missing is a hacker, which you could get by changing the Spektr FO to a hacker (and the Tomcat Dr or Engineer to an E/Mitter and the ADHL Prowler to a shotgun). Hmmm... I might like that loadout better
Raak
Hello all - I am gauging reaction on my participation in Brad's Infinity Campaign when it gets started. As of now, I'm planning to come up to DTG to enjoy the campaign with the rest of you. If anyone has any objections or issues, with me or that idea, please do let me know. Happy Holidays, Jon
nathonicus
Hey, welcome back! What faction you gonna play? I've been rocking the Haqq but I just built that Anathematic, and I reallllly want to play the bad guys now. Haqqislam got a great boost in 3rd ed, though, with shotguns and doctors everywhere, both of which got substantially better. One thing I haven't got to do too much is hacking. Mostly because I've been playing vs. Ariadna.
