VonVilkee
So,I'm working through a complete re vamp of my list eliminating drop pods and trying the tank hunting part of the imperial fist chapter tactic. I'm finally using devestators. With the back ground set I'm just realizing I could fire a bs 5 Las at a flyer. Unless I missed something (very possible) So modifying stats days that set values apply last. Snap fire (main rule book) sets bs at 1, signum allows a single model in the unit to set their bs at 5 (marine codex). Following the rules as understand I could take a single shot at bs 5 at a flyer... Codex trumps rule book and both set the bs at a value... Discuss, and or refute. pretre
Right now, yeah, I believe the Signum trumps. I believe this was FAQ'd in 6th though.
VonVilkee
Right now, yeah, I believe the Signum trumps. I believe this was FAQ'd in 6th though. That explains things thanks! Yay dead flyers and no need for flak missiles!
TW_Haines
Well well well, I think I need to remake my list with a few devs and las cannons. As I never bring anti air that will solve the problum for me
Steel Angel
I really don't think it does sig changes you to BS5 nothing more. But snapshot makes you shoot as if Bs1 no matter your BS.
fluger
I disagree with this ruling. The signum is used at the start of the shooting phase and makes one model have BS5. Snap shot is irrespective of natural BS.
fluger
I posted that at the same time as Steel Angel, he and I are in agreement.
Blustorm
That's always how I've played it as well, Fluger.
pretre
Ahh, I didn't know that Signum was start of Shooting Phase. That probably means that it is ignored by snapshooting. :( I also forgot about this new part of the rulebook: "If a special rule doesn’t specifically state that it affects Snap Shots, then the Snap Shot is resolved atBallistic Skill 1."

VonVilkee
Excellent! This was on my radar to research, knew I wasn't smarter than the rest of the community!
Koyote
"The Ballistic Skill of a model firing a Snap Shot can only be modified by special rules that specifically state that they affect Snap Shots ... If a special rule doesn't specifically state that it affects Snap Shots, then the Snap Shot is resolved at Ballistic Skill 1." -7e 40k Rulebook Page 33 *Edit: Oops, P beat me too it.
DisruptiveConduct
So does the tau book say anything about snap shots in the markerlight section?
VonVilkee
So does the tau book say anything about snap shots in the markerlight section? Excellent question, I believe it specifies overwatch but not snap fire...
WestRider
From the Markerlight section: "Pinpoint can increase the Ballistic Skill of Snap Shots and Overwatch."
DisruptiveConduct
Those buggers get to break ALL the rules! Heh.
Steel Angel
Shrug marker light still needs a 6 to hit. So would need to roll 3 6s to shoot snapfire at 3+. If they get that they've earn it if ya ask me lol
