Guest
found him on ebay. I think the painter is just bad at painting or his paints aren't very good quality for models, but I kinda like the muddy look for the mask and horns. How would you paint those effects without just being a bad painter....?
PourSpelur
Maybe crackle medium with regular acrylic over it? That way you'd get the flakey look, would completely obscure any detail below it though. No idea really, just spitballing.
Bosco
Un-thinned older paints with chunks. Maybe put some really fine sand in sparsely to add some texture? Really though, I do think that is the result of old, chunky, un-thinned paint.
WestRider
Really thick paint, and an application sort of mixing drybrushing and stippling. Probably using a really cheap brush, or maybe even one of those little sponge applicator things. I suspect this was also primed in muggy weather, without shaking the can enough, but that's hard to do on just part of a model. Maybe with some masking work. PourSpelur
I've stippled on liquid green stuff for a mottled/warty hide before on Nurgled conversions. Maybe with a wash and drybrush you'd get a caked on mud look.
