  1. The Howling : 8/10 : Werewolves done modern by Joe Dante. Open with a lady reporter tracking on a serial killer, her wire gets out of range and the cops show up just in time to kill the bad guy who is making some pretty odd growling noises. Nightmares and stress from the event are getting to her so psychiatrist Patrick MacNee tells her to come out to his retreat where everyone seems to only eat meat what possibly could be going on here. Good build to the werwolf fun for a final act. Look for a bit parts played by John Sayles, Roger Corman and Forrest J. Ackerman.
  2. My deepest deepest sympathies... as my mind wanderings have gone to the Funkadelic this morning and I now need to cleanse Starship from my head fellow geeks I give you the mind expanding guitar work of Eddie Hazel
  3. The Wrecking Crew : 9/10 : A documentary about a core group of studio musicians who are who you are really hearing on a whole lot of late 50's and 60's records instead of the actual band members. These guys really did EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE.
  4. Well still playing really... Race The Sun which I picked up for free on Steam awhile ago and recently made it the max level so I have unlocked all the goodies and power ups. A nice twitch maze game of sorts you fly a solar powered aircraft towards the setting sun picking up speed boots, jump boots, and special collision portals to save you along the way. I have made it level 6 so far and from the achievements listed it looks like I can if I every get good enough make to level 9. The world changes every day so you can't memorize it. There is also an apocalypse mode which is way harder and a labyrinth mode where you don't run out of sun but it is full of narrow paths to navigate that are unlocks. But it is great in 5 to 10 minute does of playtime.
  5. The peg on the balls and the hole in the bases is a nice touch.
  6. Well happy freaking birthday to me man! Provided I am employed again by then.
  7. How is the turnover rule unforgiving? It has been that way since the first edition. And while it can be unforgiving it very much a sauce for the goose rule. Changing that is a serious change in gameplay. Opps I dropped the ball wait I can just move this other guy over and pick it up, no this won't seriously change the game at all...
  8. Christopher Lee basically snarling his entire dialog is a bonus fun bit of this film.
  9. Magnificent Thief (the pilot film for the series It Takes A Thief) : 7/10 : A fun spy/caper tv movie with Robert Wagner in the lead with character actor Malachi Throne as his agency boss and John Saxon as the villain. Great bit parts by Raymond Burr, Leslie Nielsen, Rochester, Doug McClure, Wally Cox and Stuart Margolin.
  10. 1987 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000#Rogue_Trader_.281987.29
  11. Err yeah in my early 20's umm there was what 2 tanks and sorta Dreadnoughts, well not like the ones today... oh hell now that I look at the release dates I was freaking 20 when Rogue Trader came out. Thanks for making me feel old.
  12. Without Warning (1980) 5/10 An alien is out hunting humans with flying creature things that chew into you and send out tendrils under your skin... Predates Predator by 7 years too. Typical teenager scifi/slasher schlock. It does have a Larry Storch as a Cub Scout leader a young David Caruso and what makes it bearable is Jack Palance and Martin Landau doing the crazy local townies that know what is up but nobody believes them schtick.
  13. Nah I had stuff for AV14 no problem. But yeah that really left a bad aftertaste and then with the very quick edition change along with how little I get to play... It just soured me on the game for awhile. Then work got to be where I had a hard time just scheduling game time in. Now I am feeling the itch again but am still on the fence about it.
  14. It was the Necron beast of a monster with 2 different D attacks. Which I don't know if it has been toned down since. It just moved bloody fast and dropped the big plate on my guys pretty much wiping them out. And I had a pretty bog standard Imperial Fists army... 4 tac squads, dev squad, tanks, etc. No melta and Lysander. Another game that day was against 2 stompas which may have been doable once I had Lysander in the fray but they had the grot repair crews that kept healing any damage that I did to them.
  15. Yeah that is something I don't have cause well it was never that necessary... :( At least that is an affordable option for me right now over getting a knight. I still cringe at them being 'normal' though. At least I am back at painting stuff even it isn't for 40k proper...
  16. All my past bad match ups while not the greatest were usually still fun and I could at least do some damage if I played smarter compared to here is this huge thing that can take out 2 units a turn that you can't scratch with 85% of your army and it is gonna take at least 3 turns of damage from the units that can hurt it while it destroys them and the rest of your army. Just not fun. I get wanting to play with the big things and if they didn't come out with the current ruleset so freaking soon after the previous one and me feeling down over the new stuff... I just have not bothered since. I have felt the itch to play lately though. I just hope that there are options to take out that kind of thing that does not equate to bring your own giant tank/creature.
  17. I dunno it just doesn't feel like 40k with them in it to me. More like lets play Epic with 40k. I guess it didn't help that my first real exposure was a tourney where the big things I fought against were more or less immune to the standard army I brought and well that was fun.
  18. Well this is interesting. With the last out of the blue after just a year or so rules change and format to everything hardbound I kinda lost my enthusiasm for the game. Well that and the knights, and other BIG models as well. It just didn't feel like small unit battles to me anymore. I await with cautious interest that I may get interested again.
  19. Edge Of Tomorrow : 7/10 : Better than expected as Tom Cruise usually makes me go meh. I stumbled on All You Need Is Kill at the library and read through that in a day so I had the source material fresh in mind when watching it. They did a very good job of adapting the story to a western audience though I was a bit disappointed with the hollywood it all works out happy ending compared to the melancholy the war goes on but we know we can win of the book. Also I was disappointed he didn't take up using the axe like in the book as the reason the Full Metal Bitch uses it is because it won't run out of ammo like the standard close combat equipment and our hero realizes that it is a very effective solution to that problem.
  20. That looks nice... as in "so what if I have all the stuff already that is so much nicer I want it again" nice
  21. I will unlurk a bit here. Those look awesome. I have a legit PDF of the Dark Future rules and they were nice for the time... way better than Car Wars (Star Fleet Battles light) at least for faster and more fun game play. I actually had the game road tiles and all now all I have are the cars plus some metal GW bikes and 20mm people as well as some non GW metal cars and people. The biggest drawback was it was designed mostly for open highway for playing. I went looking and Thunder Road got a fair amount of game play at my old game group in St. Louis long ago. Great fun for a boardgame with just about the perfect amount of game length.
  22. Oh I think they got hosed years ago. I got a call from somewhere in India by the accent not long after I got my current machine and that was 2+ years ago. Asking if I wanted to extend the warranty or something. The online dell tech support was at least helpful in that they said no that I should not be getting that call.
  23. The best stuff I have used is the Plastruct brush on stuff or any equivalent of that. Really does an awesome job of melting/bonding the plastic together.
  24. I had those 2 and Axis and Allies back in the day. They were all good games. Shogun I think was the best of the lot. Axis and Allies was good but after I had a game of amazing luck playing as Russia, I had walked into Berlin and was about to launch a naval invasion of Japan at economic victory in under 10 turns. I never had a copy of Conquest of the Empire or the guy with the most catapults wins.

    Well, Crap

May not even be the storm that did it. Sometimes when electronics are ready to fail, especially on computers that are on almost all the time it will chug along nicely thorough power cycles even, but shut it off and give it time to actually cool down then poof, b0rk3d vital component that was happy and reporting fine previously.
