Regarding a Storm Wolf vs Storm Raven comparison, since the Wolf has a higher transport capacity than a Raven in addition to having a slightly higher number of weapons it appears that the Wolf is better able to perform transport duty. It's a bit arguable though since Ravens do have access to an Assault Cannon/plasma cannons, missile launcher system/hvy bolters (via weapon swapping) AND one shot missile. On paper, the wolf is still +1 TL melta/Heavy Bolter and TL focused hellfrost cannon shots above a similarly configured storm raven. In my opinion, I'd hesitate to say Ravens are a better transport though. What isn't known is if the Wolf can transport JP models though. I'll conceed that Ravens are better gunships on paper vs. Fangs though. Discounting the Destructor, Fangs end up paying more to upgrade to lascannons and swapping the TL heavy bolters for multi-meltas. Versus Air targets, the Raven will probably win out since it has assault cannons. Versus land targets, I'm tempted to go with the Fangs ability to drop ap3 pie plates on people's heads. Though loading the ship up with two 60" str 7 missiles, I'm almost of a mind to say it's better.

Though I can't post them right now, Images for the storm claw are up online. It's magnificently ugly but I actually kind of like it. It's like the cestus ram and stormtalon mashed together. Very "Viking barge". But still quite hideous.

A few did but the top part with the etched lines were still a bit scratched up upon arrival.

Did you polish your bases? Mine came out of the box kinda scratched while yours looks shiny.

There is some chatter about the wording for the box set. It doesn't say starter set and clearly says box set. There are some who think this is something "new-ish".

So i've been reading and watching a lot of stuff on doing glowing affects (Thanks UselesswizarD ) but I'm having trouble pulling it off in orange. The item I am doing is the Force weapon from the Furioso Librarian model. The issue is two fold: The recessed inlay and the color pallet for orange. Was hoping anyone had advice on how I should approach this. Basically, I need help with: What colors to be used if the brightest light source is blazing orange For recessed inlays for the furioso force weapon, how would you best approach your light source? I'd image you go with your base color in the recesses and drop the the color a bunch around the source but I'm looking for ideas on what ya'll think is best. Typing this in a hurry so sorry if details are scarce. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. I'm rather fond of the Tyrant battleship and you did a good job with your paint scheme. Hawker ships look very nice too. Haven't started on my fleet yet.

Sorry to hear about that. The early stuff has been a bit difficult to put together without major work. The newer stuff so far has been really nice. Only need to clean up a bit of flash. Incidentally, I just got my new Warwolves gunships in today! The are pretty damn sexy.

I haven't calculated my fleet size in points yet but I posess a sorylian fleet with two frigate squadrons, 1 cruiser squadron, 1 Regular/Heavy cruiser squadron, 1 battleship and 1 battlecruiser squadron. Currently have a gunship squadron on order as well. Edit: Tallied it up and looks like I got about 1220 points without hardpoints/upgrades applied.

Could they not just make a suppliment/advanced rule book so we could buy a 25/30 dollar book instead of another 80 dollar one? Games companies have routinely done this in the past where they also included an errata which revises a ton fo rules in the original version.

Yeah, this time I used mostly GW paints and I am surprised at how well the paint covers. I tend to use a thicker paint pallet than most people as you can tell but over all the color is fantastic. I just used these: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-SE/Blood-Angels-Paint-Drop. I've yet to figure out how to use the kindleflame dry paint or the bloodletter glaze so those weren't used. I also usually try to make my figures "blotchier" to signify a grimey appearance but I'm pretty satisfied with how this turned out. I did neglect to paint battle damage on the guy. Kind of difficult to do now that it already has matte finish applied.

Regarding size, I really like the scale they chose. I've tried to get into Battlespace/aerospace but given the expense and the figure scale it never felt very substantial. The sculpt quality and size is just nice. And since all measurements are made through the flight stand, ranges are a bit easier to handle.

Btw, there is a Spartan Games thread which could help you out a bit. There is even a thread on Spartan players and where they are located. I just bought some models and I am working on getting a hold of the v2 rulebook. Hopefully if I can find another player locally, we can go about showcasing this game in more popular arenas. I'm up in Vancouver so that is in the area-ish.

The hulls themselves are pretty fantastic with lots of details. All in all, I think these are all pretty good. Everything I received was in good condition with no breaks or issues. The models have plenty of details which will make painting fun. I am totally impressed with the entire shipment. Since I chose Sorylians as a race, I am increadibly excited to add more to my fleet. They are releasing new versions of Gunboats and other craft in April and what I see looks really good. Hopefully I can get these painted soon and start showing them off!
