I have an old Green Knight if you're interested. Got in in an opened box some time ago, but it looks to be in decent condition. Still raw metal and unassembled.

I can't make it out tonight (Oct 30). Got to finish a commission.

Historical gamers interested in a regular game day?
jesselowe replied to jesselowe's topic in All Other Games
It's on the calendar under "Critical Sip - Historical Minis Wargames" -
The November PDX games day is scheduled for November 15, at 12pm. We're planning on having some SAGA and some Bolt Action/Disposable Heroes action, and we might just break out some armies for Lions Rampant. If you'd like to run a game, please let me know so I can arrange a table. Hope to see you there! November 15, 12:00 - 5:00 pm Guardian Games 345 SE Taylor St. Portland, OR 97214

I'll bring some mid-war Russians for the Finns to kick around.
-
I just picked up the Attack Wing starter and a couple of extra ships. Does anyone else on Ordo play, or is it all X-Wing all the time?

The October PDX HMG Game Day will be Sunday, October 19, from 12pm to 6pm. (Sorry about the Sunday timing; it’s pretty much the only available day at Guardian this month.) We’ll have some 15mm WW2 stuff for sure, and probably some SAGA going on. If you’re interested in meeting other gamers, trying out new games, or just want to check it out, come on down! If you want to run a game, please e-mail me at jesselowe (at) gmail.com so I can update this post. Guardian Games 345 SE Taylor Street Portland, OR 97214

You know it! (I still regret letting go of what little I had of it several years ago.) Do you have your heart set on GW 10mm Warmaster figures, or are you willing to go a bit further afield - Pendraken 10mm or Splintered Light 15mm, for example? I know at least one guy in PDX has cobbled together decent Empire and Ork armies in 15mm...

So I'm organizing a historical tabletop miniatures wargames day this weekend, open to anyone interested. We’ll start at 12pm on Saturday, September 27 at Guardian Games in Portland. We’re scheduled to run until 6pm. We will have four 6’ x 4’ tables available: two in the bar, and two in the general gaming area. Depending on how busy Guardian is, we may be able to add more tables and/or play past 6pm. We’ll see. So far, people have offered to run Blitzkrieg Commander II, SAGA, Five Men In Normandy, and Piquet American Revolution. If you are planning to run a game, or want to run a game, please e-mail me at jesselowe (at) gmail.com with info on when you want to start the game and if you want to be in the bar or in the general gaming area. (If you don’t get back to me, don’t worry about it. We’ll make it work.) And if you need to know where the action is: Guardian Games 354 SE Taylor Street Portland, OR 97214 (Taylor and MLK) Looking forward to seeing people there!

1650pt Late-War Tanksgiving Tournament, official thread
jesselowe replied to taran.shannara's topic in Flames of War
Put me down for Axis. Still haven't decided on the flavor, though... -
Y'all seen this, right? 5-minute video from the New York Times on longsword fencing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zueF4Mu2uM

Dammit. This game should not be tempting me.
-
Sadly, this conflicts with the Flames of War tournament we're having up in Portland.

Sure! If you don't mind playing against some bare metal, that is... The Dark Ages guys have really fallen low on the painting queue. I've also met a couple other guys who are regular SAGA players, once every couple of weeks at Guardian. I'll see if I can find out when their next meet up is and let you know.

If you're willing to drive down to the Tacoma area, there's Fix Bayonets this Saturday. Details:

I play SAGA... In theory... would love to get some games in.

Anyone looking forward to the new Planetfall release?
jesselowe replied to Flatlander's topic in Spartan Games
It's 10mm. I'm on the fence. The figures look cool, but a) I already have 15mm sci fi, and b) I was pretty disappointed with FSA 2nd edition's gameplay, so I'm definitely going to try before I buy on this one. Also, kinda got burned on Dropzone Commander, which is also 10mm sci fi; good game, but too rich for my blood and not enough players when I got into it. So... I'm going to wait and see. (Too much good 10mm stuff coming out, dammit! I just settled on 15mm as my scale of choice!) -
I'm almost done with my 15mm Seleucids, so it's time to start thinking about their opposition. Of course, I can't decide these things on my own, so... The options, as above are: Republican Rome: The big boy on the block. You know 'em, you love 'em. Attalid Pergamum: A city-state in western Anatolia that was independent for a while, then allied with the Romans, then became part of the Empire (when the last king willed it to Rome) Parthian Empire: Horse nomads who conquered Persia, until they in turn fell to the Sassanids. Gave the Romans hell for centuries. Galatians: Gauls who settled in central Anatolia Ptolemaic Egypt: Another Successor Kingdom, eventually fell to Caesar Augustus. So. Put your vote down! Whichever gets the most votes by the end of September is the one I'll go with.

Dark Age Tournament - Win Trip to GenCon?
jesselowe replied to Dark Severance's topic in All Other Games
Ain't that the truth. There's not nearly enough time to play so many cool games... let alone money & energy. -
Interested in starting up, wondering about period/book
jesselowe replied to Peanut's topic in Flames of War
I should be there by six. I'll bring a matched pair of German and Russian forces for Mid War and you can see how you like it! -

I have to second Brother G on this one. Late war has more options, but I think mid war is more balanced. For best results, of course, you want to put lists against each other that could actually have done so... There are also only two books for mid war: Eastern Front and North Africa. It's worth getting both. As for getting games, Thursdays have been pretty hit or miss of late. You probably should try to schedule a game through here before showing up. I have Russian and German forces; would you like a learning game this Thursday?
