  1. Mr Veskit, I hate to be that guy, but the fantasy packet was uploaded in the first week of February. On the page which lists acceptable armies, it clearly indicates both LoC and HotEK. A bit late, bro. That being said, OFCC is more about the event. Even bad OFCC matches are leagues better than most games in a given year. Embrace the suck!
  2. 3000 topics in this sub forum? HOLY SMOKES! I am proud to be a small part of this awesome community, quite possibly the best place to chat WHFB on the web, and for sure the best group of guys to play with! Even if WarHAmmEr 1$ RuINZeDdd!!1?! On a regular basis :)
  3. <----- is used to posts in this forum. Apologies.
  4. Sooooooo..... Somebody gonna open WoW today? I need some WFB.
  5. Pretre, can you add spoiler tags to that post, or can a mod do it, so we don't have to scroll a half mile each time the page reloads? Esp on mobile.
  6. Here's the thing, John. For many of the people having difficulties and reacting thusly, you have to remember that they have invested into this hobby. I refer, of course, to more than just a monetary investment, but a emotional, temporal, and social one. I know I would not be the same person I am today without the hobby. For multitude of reasons, let alone DMB. Decades of investment, which now pay the following dividends: From their perspective, GW has basically said "Thanks for the cash, suckers, can we get some more?" Should they be pissed off? Yea, I think so. Do they have the right to complain about it on their social network of choice, You betcha. I don't think belittling their opinions as "crying about skinned knees" really applies. Personally, I'm waiting. Am I going to sell off my elves, abandon the game system, and become a curmudgeonly bastard whining about "in my day". No. Not worth my time. But am I upset about the rumored change in direction? Hooooooo yea. I play Fantasy Battles. Not Fantasy Skirmish. If I wanted to do that, there are better, more well rounded, more enjoyable systems out there. Besides. I've still got my book for 8th.
  7. I'm going to echo RD here, Matt. Against a doomwheel, I would not have been able to focus fire on your Clanrat bunker that early - and only would have had S4 to deal with it. PG may have been able to stand up to it, but my LSG bunker would have crumbled. Not to mention, the dice gods were against you. Failed panic checks meant your GR regiment never got a good shot off against my Eagle Noble - that many poison shots against a 3 wound model is no bueno. I'm also a fan of less slaves, more StormVermin. Not only are the models super awesome, the are slightly more reliable, both against shooting, and in combat.
  8. I'm interested. Any chance of meeting at the Rampage (Short notice, I know) -Pete H
  9. That won't completely save you from the mocking. A bit, but not completely.
  10. Wait, a spoon from raindog? Big spoon or Little spoon? I'm curious for.. A friend.
  11. Infantry and archmage, or do I just say F it, embrace the crazy and bring a dragonlord. Decisions, decisions.
  12. November sucks. I got there as soon as I could after work, but apparently missed you guys by like 5 minutes! Next time, gadget, next time!
  13. Grumble grumble... Gotta work tonight boyz. Market VP is apparently visiting my store in less than 2 weeks. I get to redo my whole back room at the store. Yay! Have fun tonight!
  14. Gotta work, but I should be in by 1830, latest!
  15. Call of Duty this week. And a 2v2 sounds so awesome. Will make next week. 1250? 1300?
  16. I wish you could make it out to GN tonight, Ed, but I'll post pics of my first skaven conversion soon. Warlitter yo.
  17. The 2014 OFCC did not produce the same kind of burnout and frustration with WFB that the aftermath of OFCC's past have for me. Where I once found exhaustion, I have found instead inspiration. Seeing all the armies on display over that weekend only encouraged me to broaden my horizons and expand from my trustworthy, stalwart, (tricksy) elves; into something completely different. Which brings me to Rattus norvegicus. The common brown rat. I'm talking Skaven here, people! I acquired the core of the army over a year ago in a BT pickup, at a heck of a discount. 20 Stormvermin 20 Plague Monks 16ish Night Runners Somewhere between 40-80 Clanrats/Slaves (mix of HW/Spear, looks like 2/3 sets of IoB) Rat Ogres Screaming bell (in pieces) Doomwheel HPA WLC Handful of weapon teams, chieftans, warlock engineers, characters, etc. My eye has been immediately drawn to Stormvermin, the quality of the kit is light years ahead of some of the older sclupts, such as Night Runners, Plague Monks, some of the Rat Ogres. As a result, I'm driving towards the look of a heavy Infantry list, backed up by some Clan Skyre tech to even the fields. I'm flirting with low/no magic, as well. Stay tuned for more!
  18. I have a spare brazier bit from the skaven Bell kit. I am planning on being @ game night tomorrow (19th). Will throw it in my bag.
  19. Let HIM have his Princess Bride moment, he deserves it too! Buy really, Ed, as long as its explained or easy spot vs savage orcs in your army (if any) go ahead!
  20. So. I stumbles into a bunch of skaven in the last 2 years, and after a few years of my tricksy elves, I'm ready for a bit of a change. One thing I'm curious about is the general opinions on the quartet of weapon teams available from the armories of the under empire. I must admit a certain fondness for the concept and model of the Doom-Flayer. Am I 'doomed' to their inevitable failure, as I seem to see from a cursory glance of popular opinion? What's your favorite? Can I win without a double HPA, or a Bell? Really digging he aesthetics of blocks of Stormvermin, and cheap chieftains.
