  1. A Truthsayer is a Druid, druids are neutral, so I totally see a Truthsayer joining with daemons if the balance in his area is shifting to the side of good.
  2. BTW, your list is very similar to my own standard list, you will do well with it. GO DAWI!
  3. I would swap the standards on the ironbreakers and the hammerers. You want the ironbreakers getting into combat as a tar pit (stubborn might be better) and you want the hammerers to get the charge, strength 7 is way better than strength 6. Also, you might want to consider small units of 5 scouts, they can deploy so that you don't lose your vanguard move. That said, I think you have a good list, I would try before you buy though.
  4. I like the swedish comp, you can take what you want and you know what you are getting into.
  5. I just want to point out, I'm not complaining, I'm still planning on going and have a great time, the ofcc is always a fantastic event. It is just that the question was asked what we thought of the comp, and I added my opinion in order to be constructive, nothing malicious about it. It is difficult to run an event this big, and impossible to please everyone and still reach the intended goal of a friendly team tournament, and we must acknowledge that comp is always hit and miss, and even the concept of hit or miss changes based on personal perspectives. I think it will be interesting to see if the comp ideas work in the way they are intended, and I'm sure that the organizers will learn a lot from it as they always do. I'm just hoping for a more clear idea next year as to what is considered a 3 so that I can do well to hit the target, shooting blind is not an easy task.
  6. Murphy's Lawyer, people are always going to try and break the system, and to be honest the more you try to limit people the more people try to beat the system :) I think it is just a flaw of human nature. I understand what ordo is trying to do, and I applaud them for giving it a go, you don't know what will work and not work without trying, and maybe they hit it on the nose this year, it will be interesting to see. However, I'm hope the pendulum swings back a little for next years event, not for limits, I'm fine with limits, but for the scoring system, it just seems clunky right now.
  7. Maybe for a future event the following would be a good way to set up teams, every member of the team must score between a 7 and 14 using the swedish comp system, and no team can score less than a 40 in total (for four player teams).
  8. I'm not a fan of the comp pack, but that is because there is no reference for what a 3 is. I would have preferred a system like the swedish system where I can calculate my comp and know where I stand as I list build. I also don't like the limit of one army type per team, from what I hear that is making it hard for some teams, it also limits the theme possibilities for teams. That said, I'm sure it will still be a well run and fun event.
  9. Finally they make an entertaining "coming soon video."
  10. Every army I take has two runesmiths, however I find them more useful in my close combat blocks, so if you want to include them in with the crossbows you are making a choice that strengthens you in one area, but weakens you in another.
  11. The handgun does not become invalid if the crossbow gets AP because of the Runesmith, remember the Runesmith costs a lot of points to get that bonus, if of course we get it.....please release the FAQ!
  12. I have a tendency to think that the rules lawyers here are correct, and that AP does not go toward shooting attacks, however the fact the skill is called fire forged indicates it is the weapons that have AP, and therefore crossbows should get it. This is the case of rules vs fluff number 10543, and hopefully they will release an FAQ soon, but until then I will not been giving AP to the crossbows, grumble grumble.
  13. I agree, I think the Flame cannon, Cannon and Organ gun are the best combo along with two gyros of course. With three template weapons (flame and gyros), I don't think you need a third with the grudge thrower, plus the organ gun is good at cracking armour and threatening Daemon Princes. In addition, I like accuracy over random especially if I'm planning on engaging, more than one time a grudge thrower has scattered to hit my own guys. I'm becoming a bigger fan of large units of slayers, deathblow is fantastic, and although they die in droves they take a lot with them. For my 3,000 point open list I'm playing with a unit of 21 with a giant slayer who has a flaming rune. I also give the unit a rune of slowness so that I get the charge more often. When they use great weapons that +1 strength is great for breaking through armour.
  14. 1. If I roll a double I can take Wild Form, any spell in the lore right? 2. Here is the interesting question, if I roll a 6 and get Transformation, and drop one of my other spells to the signature spell which is Kadon, then I essentially have a double right? So I could then choose Wild Form could I not? Or would I have Transformation twice?
  15. No FAQ. I was hoping for number 2 at the least, but oh well life goes on, besides there is nothing wrong with a guaranteed chance at becoming a Mountain Chimera.
  16. I heard from a GW dude that all of the current armies will continue to be supported, but he did not know for sure which would be next but thought that Wood Elf's were being hinted at.
  17. On page 132, for the Truthsayer it says the following "When selecting spell, a Truthsayer can exchange one spell for the Transformation of Kadon, instead of the usual signature spell." I see one of three ways to read this, and would like a ruling please. 1. The Truthsayer can exchange a single spell for Transformation of Kadon instead of the usual Wyssans Wild Form, but it does not say you can't take a second spell and exchange it for Wyssans, essentially giving the Truthsayer two signature spells. Both Skaven and High magic have set the precedent for this interpretation, and I think is the way the rule was intended and written. 2. You can only exchange one spell for a signature spell, but you may choose to exchange that spell for either Transformation of Kadon or Wyssans Wild form, but you can't do both. Even though I don't agree with this interpretation, there is a strong argument for it. 3. You may not choose Wyssans Wild form at all, Transformation of Kadon becomes your only option for a signature spell. Personally I think the argument for this ruling is weak, as it says you can exchange, which means you don't have to. However it is ruled is the way I will play it, but I just want it known so I can practice it that way, thanks.
  18. The Dragon will have a slayer riding it (for looks only). What is better than killing a dragon? Making it submit to your will!
  19. I agree about the lord, especially when the Thane has leadership 10, although I think it is more useful than the anvil. Sorry about my bitterness toward the new anvil, I just loved the anvil so much in the last book, that I took it in every list of 2000 points or more, and now whenever I hear the term Anvil a piece of my heart breaks, it could have been so much more..... Oh well, I for one will be taking a slayer list to OFCC, no WM, no gyros, and no hammerers, but lots of slayers, so it should be fun. I disagree about the SoM not fitting dwarfs, there is always a good story as to why a monster might be joining with the dwarfs :)
  20. My ofcc list will be 3 Dragon slayers (each with a flaming breath weapon) 3 units of 20 slayers (each with a magic banner) FC 2 units of 23 crossbows with great weapons and FC 2 Runesmiths (each with a dispel scroll) 1 Truthsayer with lore of beasts 1 Carmine Dragon If that is not OFCC friendly, I don't know what is.
  21. Even in a friendly game i see no use coming out of the anvil, to me it is just giving away points. Are some of the things it does useful, sure, but is it worth 300 plus points, not a chance. Take a Storm of Magic monster if you want something fun.
  22. I will take that challenge. Already started painting.
