  1. They are both very fun and very frustrating. The army has fantastic stratagems and is just brutally points heavy so has a very hard time not taking allies. I’ve always wanted to drop five or six allurus terminators on a back line and throw the unleash the lions stratagem on em and just run all over their whole army. Just so fun. A rumor is circulating that wardens and Trajan are gonna come down in points in chapter approved- which I’d love to see, cause they are both fantastic but just too expensive in an already super expensive army.
  2. I’ve thought about both. The grav just seems the superior choice. The addition of “fly”- extra transport capacity and movement speed really do the trick. It feels like a real transport, while the LR feels like a heavy weapons platform with guys inside. Basically with a LR I’d be forcing myself on a hard decision to shoot or advance every turn, while with the grav tank I’d just be advancing- no question. in other news I wrote my custodes list for the apoc game and with three knights and a battalion of custodes I’m still only bringing 18 models in a 2500 point list.
  3. I just wrote my list. I’m bringing 18 models. 2500 points doesn’t seem to be enough. 😆
  4. I’ve played solo custodes quite a bit. Knights aren’t too bad. The custodes have a stratagem that give them +1 to wound so even regular guardian spears do the job on knights and tanks. Vs strong psychic armies the custodes whither- I ran them with sisters of silence at ofcc for that very reason. Really tho, their main weaknesses are their lack of strong shooting attacks and lack of speed. They get work done if they get to where they need to- and even a single custodian can really do quite a bit of damage. The jet bikes are a mega bullet sponge so get them across the board as quick as they can cause they will be focused down. Ive put a lot of consideration into getting a Coronos grav carrier just to see how much pressure I can put on my opponent by delivering a unit across the board quickly.
  5. In my opinion, GW totally blew it for Orktober. The hype machine was rolling full steam into the month. I, who has always sworn I’d never play Orks was excited, enticed by possibilities of awesomeness, new rules, wacky and gorgeous new models. They had the community primed to pick up a new army. If they had done it right, so many folks would have jumped on it. I think most if not all 40k players have a special place in their hearts for Orks. We all want to love em, we think they are hilarious and wacky and kinda lovable. That said most people don’t touch em... Cause, other than en mass, they kinda suck. I’m not calling them bad- but it’s a brutal army to commit to knowing you’re gonna be struggling to win most of the time. And GW dragged their feet. Put out another friggan boxed game before the codex... and well, yeah, they blew it. I’m not gonna buy that silly boxed game. I don’t play Orks, so why would I? Cause it’s a value? What value is their in it if you aren’t an Ork player and you already have a shelf full of often unplayed board games. GW blew it.
  6. Just seems to me that people should start moving away from these ‘matched play’ rules... eh?
  7. This isn’t exactly what you are looking for but I suspect these would work pretty well if you weren’t trying to mark them all up as a specific household. http://www.fallouthobbies.com/decals/
  8. I found that making a loota spanna a comms specialist was very helpful. The +1 to hit paired with a regular loota is pretty much the best shooting orcs can get in kill team. That and the dakka dakka dakka stratagem and you are shooting quite a few strength 7 shots and maybe actually hitting with them.
  9. I’ll be there and I’ll bring a kill team
  10. I look forward to more YouTube videos of people burning their armies in outrage against GW when or if they decide to include women in the game.
  11. I think I’ll sit this league out for now. I just downloaded a 58 page pdf rulebook for this game, and I don’t even know when my teams gonna show up in the mail.
  12. I gotta say, I love me some nurgle models and... those are just terrible... what is that? A robot head kid with a peg leg and wooden sword? huh? I’m still all over this release, but dang...
  13. I Yep. I’m actually on the East Coast until the 11th. If you’d rather I sit out the big boys league cause I’m such a noob that’s fine too. I don’t want people to have bad games cause they are hand holding a nooby- I know it’s nothing personal. 🤔😀
  14. I have a team on order and will happily play, tho I have no clue how to as yet
  15. I’ve been sold on this since they teased it months ago- After maybe 10 games of kill team I’m not really very in love with it, but this box set will be mine for those spectacular models either way.
  16. I preordered the Rotters blood bowl team. When I get them in someone’s gonna have to teach me this game.
  17. I believe the team that got best Sportsmanship had a player with 4 knights for a list. Does that answer your question as to people reception/perception of them being used?
  18. I lost all but one of my games and can say I had a great time. I think as long as it is conveyed to every player that shows up (well in advance) that OFCC is a non-competitive tournament about bringing fun and fluffy lists, then list ratings is no big deal. I played one and only one game where I really stood no chance in heck of winning and it was because my opponent didn’t understand that it wasn’t a ‘real’ tournament prior to submitting his list. I still had a good time and we both laughed it off. I think that’s the point. Making it clear to folks in advance that they are coming to ‘play a game’, not ‘win a tournament’ Aside from that I think getting team match ups and lists out to captains in advance and prompting them to have dialogues with one another about good match ups might be helpful. -So, in that sense I think a sort of minor rating system would be called for. Maybe one where a few folks glance over short form lists and stack them and sort them by team. Not assigning any one list a rating but saying- ‘Okay, these three teams have players with big guns and knights and stuff, we should make sure they are assigned match ups.’ I know I’m probably oversimplifying the point. I know things aren’t always going to be fair, but usually as long as people know the beat down is coming and can expect it- they won’t complain afterwords. That’s why an early dialogue would help a bit.
  19. My first game of doubles my Mortarion got shot off the table by the first shot of a knight Castellan, when I failed all four of my invulnerable saves. I drank more and laughed. My first game the next day my Telemon Dreadnought did the exact same thing except he exploded spectacularly in the middle of my lines. Sometimes things go so wrong so fast you just have to laugh at your luck and make the game as silly as you can.
  20. I was in the bathroom for the awards ceremony. Good to know Ad Hoc scored well, tho I don’t know how things were rated. I know I had a really good time, and would like to thank all my opponents and my team mates for a fun weekend.
  21. And here are just a few pics I had on my phone from playing with paint on little golden army guys.
