M.O.D.O.K. is usually treated as a serious threat in the "main" Marvel Comics, but he's subject to endless parody in their humorous books (like Gwenpool where he recreates himself as a California surfer dude named B.R.O.D.O.K.) and in spin-offs like their cartoons. He's a classic creation from the Jack Kirby / Stan Lee era of classic Marvel, so he's got some chops... But, well, look at him. He's just Late Silver Age. They just don't make `em like that anymore. Anyhoo, I've clearly hijacked your thread long enough.

Sturgill Simpson Presents Sound & Fury is a recent release on Netflix... and it's kind of hard to review. It's not really a "film" so much as a 41:08 music video. You don't really watch Sound & Fury, so much as you experience it. The music blends the blues, hard rock, psychedelic rock, and electronic synth music. The film is a trippy futuristic, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, samurai film with aliens, mecha, yakuza, and a samurai driving a muscle car drop-kicks a subway train. Here's a taste. (Minor totally out of context spoiler warning.)

She sucks nitro... with Phase 4 heads! 600 horsepower through the wheels! She's meanness set to music and the bitch is born to run! I should ask my internet provider to block eBay's IP addresses.

I cannot leave a 7-11 these days without buying at least one Hot Wheels (Hot Wheel?) car... Which is kind of problematic since I work there two or three days a week.

This is my favorite Gaslands car, so far. I call her “Black Betty.”

I like the subtle use of the skeleton, the slightly overly large horse, and the hooded head of the warlord. A bunch of little things that move them from being a straight historical representation and into the fantastical... But without going full World of Warcraft on them. Cannot wait to see them painted!

Advanced Idea Mechanics, or A.I.M., was one of Marvel Comics “go to” evil terrorist organizations made up of hordes of faceless goons, a few “jobber” supervillains, and one or two C-List mastermind villains. Thematically, they were all rogue scientists and evil engineers, so their schemes tended to revolve around some super-science doomsday device, bizarre genetic engineering gone amok, and that sort of thing. Unlike HYDRA who tended to be used more for “political” stories about the evil Commies, or The Hand which was mostly used for magical plots. Other than there hordes of goons, the most famous characters associated with A.I.M. is the rather goofy M.O.D.O.K. (Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing)

Why mess up what was already done right? The original Jain Zar (and all the other Phoenix Lords) were some of the best of their era. They were limited by the restrictions of two-part pewter injection molding process, but they really pushed those limits. They needed an update, but I’m glad they didn’t radically alter the original.

Until GW publishes codices for them...

Ideally, I’d just throw most of them out.

If Superman (or any other nigh invulnerable superhero of your choice) visits a construction site where hard hats, high visibility vests, and eye/ear protection is required... Does he have to wear it? Okay, so I can see the safety inspectors overlooking it if he’s just there involuntarily because Gorilla Grodd or Bizarro threw him into the construction site... But what if he’s just visiting? Like, as part of a goodwill tour of some new hospital that being built or whatever...
