pretre Posted July 6, 2018 Report Posted July 6, 2018 Welcome to Kill Team Focus – a new series on Warhammer Community where we take a look at all 16 factions from Kill Team, checking out their unique skills and just which units you’ll be able to field. We’re kicking of Kill Team Focus with a look at the relentless Skitarii clades of the Adeptus Mechanicus, as well as some of the unique tactics they wield on the battlefield… Every turn, you’ll get to choose (or roll for) one of six powerful blessings of the Machine God for your kill team – if you play Warhammer 40,000, you’ll be familiar with these already. They’ll allow you to switch up your tactics on the fly, shifting from hiding with Shroudpsalm to charging in with Chant of the Remorseless Fist when the enemy closes range. If you like guns, you’ll love Skitarii kill teams. You’ll be able to arm up with plasma calivers, transuranic arquebuses and more, allowing you to build a roster capable of turning any enemy into radioactive ash. The Adeptus Mechanicus kits are a treat for tinkerers. You can build your whole kill team from two diverse dual kit boxes with loads of options, from cosmetic changes like alternative heads and accessories to wargear like scryer-skulls and data-tethers. These guys provide long-range fire support to your kill team, whether toting special weapons or just using their galvanic rifles. Alternatively, kit them out with an omnispex and use one as a spotter for one of your more heavily armed troops. What if Skitarii Rangers were also dangerously radioactive? Skitarii Vanguard fight much like their brethren, while also sapping the Toughness of anyone they get close enough to – you’ll want to keep one on your front lines for this very reason. Sometimes, shooting just won’t cut it in Kill Team – which is where the Ruststalkers come in. Capable of closing in on the foe at terrifying speed, you’ll be able to turn entrenched foes into coleslaw in a blitz of their transonic blades… Striking a balance between shooty and choppy Skitarii units, Sicarian infiltrators are just as comfortable gunning foes down as they are electrocuting them with their taser goads – AND they mess with enemy Leadership to boot! Tactics in Kill Team are special powers usable by your Kill Team. There are tactics usable by everyone, tactics unique to certain specialists, tactics for specific Killzones and tactics unique to each warband, adding an extra layer of strategic depth on top of the game. Adeptus Mechanicus Tactics allow make the most of this kill team’s adaptability and represent the various high-tech augmentations wielded by their troops. Modifiers to hit are everywhere in Kill Team – this Tactic allows you to reliably hit foes hiding at long range or ducking behind cover. In Kill Team, games begin with a Scouting phase – a deadly battle of wits where both players select secret strategies. Scryer-Skull allows you to avoid traps your opponents lay in this phase… With enough models to build a mix of Skitarii Vanguard and Skitarii Rangers, not to mention some unique tactics cards, the Kill Team boxed set is a must-have for Adeptus Mechanicus players – but if you can’t wait, we’d recommend getting some Sicarians to round out your roster in the meantime. Find yours online or in your local store, and make sure to come back tomorrow when we’ll be looking at the insidious Genestealer Cults… 1 1 Quote

It also gets confusing because Kill Team has been many different things at many different times. Are we on the 5th use of that name? Or more? 1 Quote
WestRider Posted July 7, 2018 Report Posted July 7, 2018 Posted 07/07/2018 Kill Team Focus: The Genestealer Cults Welcome back to Kill Team Focus! Today, we’re checking out the Genestealer Cults, an ideal kill team for creative converters and cunning commanders alike. From just why you might want to play them, to the units you’ll be able to use, we’ll jump right in… If you’re a fan of cunning tricks and ploys, you’ll love the Genestealer Cults – whether closing in on the foe at speed with their Cult Ambush rule or drawing on their various underhanded Tactics. When building your kill team, you’ll have a huge range of deadly industrial weapons to pick from – allowing you to optimise each fighter and make sure your specialists look distinct. You can really let your creativity run wild with a Genestealer Cult kill team. Infested Astra Militarum regiments, mutated hive gangs – with only a handful of models to build and loads of bits for converting, the choice is yours. Neophyte Hybrids can be equipped as long-ranged support units with heavy weapons, as well as making great Scout or Medic specialists. Acolyte Hybrids are special weapons troops with a twist, carrying a brutal array of close combat weapons that make them among the most lethal fighters in the game. Equipped with grisly bio-weapons, Hybrid Metamorphs chew through lighter armoured troops with ease. Big, tough, and very hard to kill, Aberrants might not be subtle – but who needs to be when you have a power hammer? Absolutely terrifying in Kill Team, Genestealers are capable of hiding in cover before shredding enemies with their rending talons. Genestealer Cults Tactics are designed to complement their mobility and general sneakiness by offering short, sharp boosts to their offensive power – and shoring up their fragile defences. In Kill Team, obscured foes – that’s anyone who’s hiding behind cover – are much harder to hit. With this Tactic on your side, you’ll be able to ensure your mining lasers hit home. Nobody gets the drop on a Genestealer Cultist – use this Tactic with a flamer-wielding Neophyte Hybrid, and you’ll be able to stop enemy assaults in their tracks, wherever they come from… With 10 Neophyte Hybrids and some unique Genestealer Cults Tactics, the Kill Team box set is a great one for aspiring Patriarchs – you could even mix and match with the Skitarii to make a force from the Cult of the Bladed Cog! If you want to get stuck in right away, build yourself some heavy melee fighters with the Acolyte Hybrids set, available now – and stay tuned for tomorrow’s preview, when we’ll be looking at Adeptus Astartes kill teams. WestRider Posted July 7, 2018 Report Posted July 7, 2018 More excited about these guys than the Skitarii. It would be about even if the other force was combined AdMech and I could run Electro-Priests, but as it stands, the Stealer Culties look more fun. Quote
andy Posted July 8, 2018 Report Posted July 8, 2018 Soooo, what're we thinking on the box? $150? Quote

All the stuff in the box looks more or less comparable in terms of number of sprues to what was in Shadow War, or what's in Dark Imperium. Retail point for those is $130 and $160 respectively. Renegade, at $195, is probably the extreme upper bound, but I don't feel like it will hit that point. 1 Quote
WestRider Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 Posted 09/07/2018 Kill Team Focus: Orks For some, Kill Team will be a game of tactics and strategy – a battle of wits where every decision is deliberate and exacting. Orks – and Orks players – tend to take a different approach, preferring instead to blitz through the enemy in a mass of dakka, choppas and muscle, spreading anarchy and leaving enemy kill teams in the dust. In today’s Kill Team Focus, we’re looking at the unique charms of an Orks kill team, as well as checking out the units and Tactics you’ll be able to use… Orks kill teams are really versatile, with five different units to draw their team members from – from the ‘umble Ork Boy to dakka-spraying Lootas. Like converting? You’ll love Orks! From chopping and changing heads, weapons and armour between kits to lootin’ guns and gear from the rest of your bitzbox, there really is no limit… Orks are a close-combat warband through and through – if you want to win Kill Team in brutal melee, they’re the kill team for you. Strong, tough and numerous, Boyz will be the backbone of many kill teams, excelling at close-quarters warfare. The sneakiest gits around, Kommandos are dangerous close-combat fighters who are nearly impossible to hit in cover – use them to hunt shooty foes. Who needs aim when you’ve got a burna? These flexible Orks troops are great in the close confines of Kill Team, whether in melee or torching enemies in cover. Orks with a knack for re-appropriating enemy war materials, Lootas provide long-ranged fire support for their kill teams with their dreaded deffguns. Let’s face it – Gretchin are not exactly the most heroic fighters. They are, however, very easy to hide in cover, cost next to no points AND can be your leader if you’re bold enough to recreate the glory days of the Gretchin Revolutionary Committee. Orks are well known for making up for any deficiencies in accuracy with sheer volume of firepower. This Tactic allows you to immediately open fire again on the foe and is great when combined with Burnas or other weapons that hit automatically. Picture the scene – you’ve dashed out of cover to blast some ‘umie to smithereens, when suddenly, you’re in the gunsights of all the other ‘umies! By grabbing the nearest grot, you’ll be able to fight another day… At launch, players looking to make the most of their Orks will want to make sure they pick up the Krogskull’s Boyz expansion – with Burna Boyz (or Lootas, depending on how you build them). Of course, there’s no reason not to start right away – a set of Kommandos is well worth it for a Kommando Boss Nob alone, a stealthy bruiser who’s both thematically fitting and deadly on the tabletop. Get yours online today – and stay tuned for tomorrow’s Kill Team Focus, where we’re checking out the brave troopers of the Astra Militarum. Quote
WestRider Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 'ERE WE GO! 'ERE WE GO! 'ERE WE GO! WAAAGH! Looks like plenty of good potential with the greenskinz. And the handful of them that I still have around should be plenty for something on this scale. Quote
WestRider Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 Posted 10/07/2018 Kill Team Focus: The Astra Militarum Attention, Guardsmen! For today’s Kill Team Focus, we’re looking at the brave troopers of the Astra Militarum – mortal soldiers of the Imperium armed with nothing more than lasguns, flak armour a massive helping of grit. In Kill Team, the Astra Militarum can easily outnumber their foe with plenty of infantry. You’ll be able to absorb losses to your squad that would be devastating for anyone else. Like in Warhammer 40,000, Guardsmen can be issued orders by your kill team Leader that allow you to adapt your strategy – whether ensuring a heavy weapon hits or getting stuck in with close combat. This is the perfect opportunity to do that regiment you’ve always wanted to – with only a few models to build and paint, you can tackle anything from the Ventrillian Nobles to the Miasman Redcowls – or a custom regiment of your own making. The bulk of most Astra Militarum kill teams, individual Guardsmen might not be that tough, but they can quickly overwhelm foes through weight of numbers. These guys are your main source of firepower – what you arm them with is up to you, from short-ranged flamers to sharp-shooting sniper rifles. For those looking for a more elite option, Scions are more durable and more accurate than their kin, as well as having access to armour-piercing hot-shot lasguns. Guardsmen aren’t exactly the most durable troops around, but you’ll be able to keep your Leaders and Gunners in the fight with this nifty Tactic. Orders are invaluable for Astra Militarum kill teams – use this Tactic to get the most out of yours. There are no wrong answers when building an Astra Militarum kill team, but you really can’t go wrong with a Command Squad set – both the Catachan and Cadian set will give you a strong core. Packed with special weapons, conversion bits and all sorts of characterful components, it’s the perfect place to start your kill team. Quote
WestRider Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 Without seeing the Orders, and no specific KT box release for them, this one is a little bland. That does mean tons of room for customizing their look and such, tho. I'd love to see additional rules in WD or something for adding Ratlings or an Ogryn. Quote

That looks like it's going to be a sweet deal at $130! 1 Quote
WestRider Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Posted 11/07/2018 Kill Team Focus: Tyranids It’s time for another Kill Team Focus – this time, looking at the adaptable bio-beasts of the Tyranids. Read on for why you might want to choose Tyranids for your kill team, a look at the units you’ll be able to pick from and a sneak peek at some of their Tactics… Want an elite kill team? Stock up on Warriors and Lictors. Fancy overwhelming the foe? Grab a horde of Termagants. Can’t decide? Mix the two! Tyranids kill teams are never better than when in chomping distance of their foes. From blitzing enemies with a flurry of talons and more specialised options like lash whips and boneswords, your kill team is sure to have a painful impact on any enemy they charge. Tyranids are a treat for converters in Kill Team, allowing you to really go wild with some custom biomorphs. A Comms specialist could be covered in antennae, while a Combat specialist could be festooned with spikes and blades – there are loads of options for making each model look distinct. Basic Tyranid gun-beasts, Termagants can provide a surprising amount of firepower with their fleshborers and devourers. Smaller Tyranid beasts developed for close combat, Hormagaunts can quickly close in on their prey before slicing them apart with their scything talons. Terrifying synapse beasts, Warriors are monstrous in Kill Team, boasting deadly bio-morphs, providing Synapse support for lesser creatures and disrupting enemy psykers. Elite, mobile and hard to pin down, Genestealers are great close-combat creatures with a range of optional biomorphs, from scything talons to extended carapace. Lictors are stealthy, fast and lethal – if you’re looking for a super-elite kill team, why not take four? Turns out the brains of enemy Leaders are full of tasty, tasty Command Points. Who knew? From keeping your Leader safe to protecting an entrenched gun-beast, this Tactic fits the stealthy and adaptable Tyranids perfectly. A great way to kick off your Tyranids kill team is with a set of Genestealers – thematically, these vanguard organisms are designed for kill team-style operations. For a different direction, you could grab a Lictor or two – if you’ve ever seen a film or read a book about an alien stalking and killing off a small crew, one-by-one, these guys let you BE that alien… Still hungry for more previews (as well as biomass)? Check back tomorrow, when we’ll be previewing another deadly xenos species – the Drukhari… Quote
WestRider Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Dem Bugses! Including the first non-plastic Model used in a Team so far. [Oops, forgot about Kommandos. Mine were converted from plastic boyz anyhow.] Kinda wish they had Raveners available as well, but there's still a pretty nice range of options here. Certainly far better than what they had available in Shadow War. Quote
Munkie Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Wake me up when the Drukhari get previewed. Quote

WestRider Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Dark Eldar are one of the few Factions that I've never actually used. One of the blogs I follow is doing a Drukhari variant on INQ28, Shadows of Commorragh, and I was thinking of building and painting a few Models for that. Now I might actually put together a Kill Team for them. I just wish they had Hellions available here. Seems like everyone but Stealer Cult and Orks is missing at least one Unit I'd really want to use. Quote
scottshoemaker Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 I'm really excited for smaller games, faster matches, using minis I already have (work is shakey now). And the idea of having taster samples of forces I like but don't want entire armies of Quote

This is totally in keeping with their usual relationship with DE. "Mo-omm, do we have to?" I think summarizes their stance pretty well. Yes, you have to, GW. And you better enjoy it too, or No Ultramarines! 1 Quote
