WestRider
At some point, I'd like to run Chaos (either CSM or Daemons) in this thing, because they were my first Army. IG and Nids are perennial favorites of mine, especially for Nids if it opens up to FW so I can use my Malanthrope. I'm starting in on a Tau force, which might be solid enough for me to run it next year. If Dark Angels get some love in the next year, I could totally roll with them as well. FW access for Mortis Dreads would help there, too. So yeah, it's pretty much all over the map.
pretre
FW would be nice since Sisters love them some AV13 with FW.
WestRider
I hope the event does open up more in that regard in the future. GW is really spreading out the ways they're delivering new Units, and each Faction is significantly broader than just its Codex at this point.
pretre
Yeah, I've been checking out the Sicaran as a great addition to my SW.
fluger
Sicaran is just plain good.
WestRider
I definitely need to pick one up for my Dark Angels at some point. And really, since I'm doing the Iron Wolves, I should have a SW one as well. Why did starting multiple SM Armies sound like a good idea again? :P
pretre
I'm thinking of trying to kitbash one...
WestRider
You could probably get a reasonable approximation from a Land Raider kit, some plasticard/tubing, and a few bits. Or maybe a reversed Leman Russ as a base.
pretre
Yeah it's a bit smaller than a land raider but still really big.
Lord Hanaur
So good that its evidence of the need to allow Forge World? Lol. Ah, Forge World. So broken sometimes.
WestRider
Nah, we're just fanboying at this point. Stuff like the Malanthrope, Repressor, and maybe the DA Mortis Dreads are the stuff that actually fills in gaping holes in the relevant Dexes.
pretre
Yeah, im spoiled by the repressor now.
Lord Hanaur
I wanted to purchase Repressors REALLY early on when I FIRST got my Sisters of Battle. It was because I learned more about Forge World stuff. I'd say Repressors are on the really low end of my concern as far as that goes but its a slippery slope. WestRider
Eh, at this point, I don't think there's a whole lot that's much worse than CentStars, Wave Serpent/WraithKnight spam, or Imperial Knights. BAO's got a fairly reasonable set of restrictions for FW stuff, I think.
Lord Hanaur
Easier on newer players not to go there. And the tools are there to bounce a Centstar out of a Tournament if you're willing to take them. Culexis and other things are a "thing" now. So fear not. Salvation is at hand! WestRider
And keeping up with GW's mess of supplements, Dataslates, White Dwarf Units, Campaign books, and who knows what else is significantly easier for new players at this point? Are new players even a good target demographic for this event? Seems like you'll get a better fight by getting proper vets of each Army signed up. The Culexus actually seems pretty easy to deal with to me, and there ain't much else that significantly impacts the Blessings that CentStars run on. And again, compare something like a Hierodule to a WraithKnight or Imperial Knight. There's not that much difference in power level, and it might be edged toward the GW stuff. Once you keep out the ranged D and the huge Ignores Cover Blasts, there's not anything really coming to mind that's more unbalancing from FW than the stuff GW is already putting out.
Lord Hanaur
"Easier" and "one MORE enormous layer" are two different things. Just choosing not to add one MORE layer. Its cost prohibitive ENOUGH that I just choose...for better or for worse.... to make it easier on the MAJORITY of players who just cant afford to keep escalating things. And yup, theres going to be some denial for me because i am blessed and COULD afford it, If I really wanted to. I could probably go out and buy 13 tomes tomorrow. But im justnot gonna ask Joe Average-player to do it juat to compete w me. Not gonna do it. but I get it if others wanna play that version of the game. Do it

PumpkinHead
The one true question here is: Did Arjac Rockfist and the Void Claws! make their appearance with guitars in hand?

WestRider
The one true question here is: Did Arjac Rockfist and the Void Claws! make their appearance with guitars in hand? Nah. They were too fiddly, since they were just stuck on with blu-tac, and I was worried about them slowing down my games.
