NakedPanda
Achilles is tricky in that he will earn a bullseye on his head QUICK in your group. If you dedicate him to a task (and he has SUPPORT [that agema will do perfectly]) he is extremely likely to complete it once you know how to use him. He was the very first model I took out from my first OFCC tournament opponent because I know what he is capable of hahaha. And the poor guy could not make a reasonable dodge or save for the life of him*... *sorry Art

NakedPanda
That looks like a tough list to learn, but lots of great models and tools, so I like it. cybermask is complex, but incredibly powerful with the asura hacker. While disguised, she can not be hacked! If you can, make sure to have that marksman watching over her shoulder or she will get overwhelmed by a strong coordinated order or link team or something

NakedPanda
There will be a series of them hahaha seems like it takes most players about 5 good tries to get old game systems out of their head and Infinity in there instead. It is very different, in all the best ways. We have had a couple skillful powergamers come through, they beat us for a bit, then we get them back once we learn tactics to handle their 'trick'. Sadly they all left once they were figured out lol
Don't Panic
looks like peanut and i are going to start at 200 points for my first game saturday. STOKED! so i threw this together... btw can an engineer/doctor have 2 servants? this list seems pretty straight forward and hopefully user friendly. im hoping we can also get the new portland game store into supporting infinity as well! ALSO, where are the rules for marker? they are not in the rulebook... at all... Don't Panic
played my first game against peanut. it was a blast even though we didnt get to finish! peanut killed 2 things right off the bat. including my sniper with a crit from a robot. that hurt because his sniper then controlled a ton of the board. observations and questions: 1. things are super fragile in this game(or at least it seemed) and a lot of randomness. technically my sniper in cover and long range shouldnt die to a long range HMG shot but when you roll one of those crits its nasty! kinda like it... makes things a bit random and you have to adjust quickly when plans fall through! 2. hacking is a ton of fun, especially with markers. that marker really helped me keep his hard HI character immobilized and out of action. think the asura idea with him will be really interesting... so question: can you ARO from a marker of something within 8"? if so do you just get a single burst for gotcha? (yes super noob questions) 3. templates are awesome. 4. i noticed peanut do a coordinated order. i need to learn how to do that lol... had a blast and thanks peanut for the tutorial. game really was as interesting as i thought it was! will be much cooler on actual infinity terrain sometime :) pondering switching out atalanta just due to how fragile she is. i mean it was kinda unlucky she died but thats a lot of eggs in a 45 point 1 wound basket... think ill probably bring what i wanted to next time with the proxy girls
Peanut
Nate! I was reading rules - you can hack me through my own repeaters! There are a coulle penalties for it, but thats great - one of my remotes (pathfinder) is a repeater so you could project your hacking into my side of the field that way. Burst is always one in ARO And according to a faq I read that applies to hacking. Oh and yes, everything is really fragile! It is kinda scary, sometimes you can have a ton of your guys go down before you move. There are ways to mitigate the risk of this. Im paranoid of it, hence my total reaction bot and my love of minelayers. And template weapons in ARO. It was a fun game, lets do it again soon.
Don't Panic
after seeing peanut's total reaction HMG bot cause me issues, i thought to myself "i must have an option that has something like that in my army" and waddayaknow we do lol. rebots. and its also my source of guided missile fun. they are fast and have climbing plus as well so they seem a bit more diverse than just sit back and ARO. so im going to pick up that pack eventually as my next 'oops i bought something else for my addiction'. got my spitfire asura assembled and ready to murder camo bros. really want to try out many different things to see what my play style is. i think i really enjoy the marker/hacking things and more defensive setups so im probably leaning more towards vanilla aleph than steel phalanx. ive noticed there is definitely a concern for range with this army so im hoping to have a few answers there. if anyone is looking for games this week let me know! really want to learn more... im hooked lol
NakedPanda
ASS suffer in the mid range band, and a little in the short range band, but the long and melee are solid! Played my first round of this last saturday's tournament vs the ASS player that took 1st place, and he showed me how limited that weakness is in the hands of a good player hahaha (me=stomped) hahaha

NakedPanda
http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/33170-mox-boarding-house-tournament-steel-phalanx-art-online-perspective/ But his list and method by no means a prescription for wins, as his play style/list requires spectacular target prioritization and position play. It is very order hungry and desperate to keep models alive as a result (low stamina in a protracted exchange). Different and clever plays on his part, which is tricky because you think you know how he is going to play by looking at the list and pulls something different when pressed. Happy I had him round one!
Don't Panic
3rd game started off well picking off a few guys and getting a LoL. think if you play atlanta you better have her defended cause she is so easy to kill. although pressing with the hmg total reaction bot got me a few kills and kept him from pressing forward a bit, honestly the ekdromoi and my sniper caused a redundant space cover so i really should have kept him back, totally forgetting about the drop troops. not having a hacker aro those really hurt. especially since my list was my list that was still built with a bunch of repeaters for hacking including an EVO lol. stupid me... he exposed my weaknesses pretty well in that game! my backline was way too weak and i should have payed more attention to facing of my guys as they did NOT need to be facing against the stupid wall. tons of rookie mistakes but hey thats how you learn! getting a couple aro's there would have had a chance at saving the lieutenant(i think i forgot he has ODD... 'sigh'). once again things are super fragile in this game and its crazy. still had a blast! now to make a more synergistic list!
Raindog
Since I a noob and have no real long term experience, I am going to offer an opinion, that may be totally wrong. To me, Infinity is a very sophisticate game. The starting rules are straight forward, but the overall tactics are subtle and myriad. Playing one or two uber models without the knowledge on how to play seems to be risky. Being experienced with the basic models seems to be paramount in the game. Since the basic models are cheap and still offer specialists, seems to be the place where to start learning. Adding trickier models more games allows the ability to use the models before they die. Infinity does not have the 1+ rerollable, 3+ Ward, unbreakable Deamon Prince. Make the opposing biggie make enough saves, and he or she, will go down. Cheers, RD
indytims
That's pretty much what I've been doing so far - playing lots of cheap models, so I can gain experience with what all they can do, and having lots of orders to learn with. :) And I -love- scenario play. Absolutely positively. -Tim
Don't Panic
yea i think after another game or two we should start scenerios up. cause they look like a blast... and it seems most tournaments use them anyways so we might as well get use to them being a huge part of our strategies!

Don't Panic
i forgot to fail my guts with my lieutenant to give him cover... yea that might have seriously cost me the game there totally forgetting that along with ODD. would have meant he would be -9 to hit and id be shooting back at that point! RATS lol. also i totally didnt know that G:remote presence means they actually have two levels of unconciousness!!! thats crazy! so they have to be wounded 3 times to be taken out wow! makes putting engineers in probably a good idea even moreso than docs because NWI they can at least do everything normal while robots cant do anything when incapcitated. hmm... well here's my list for next week. going to go with whats been good for me in my 3 turns plus testing one new thing out: Aleph ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 7 0 0 PROXY Mk.2 Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. NakedPanda
The game gets way better once you migrate over to missions. My newest players had the best time acclimatizing to them by building a list for each mission they were going to tackle!

Don't Panic
so played my third game last night at RC. it was against another nathan! he had a nasty combined army list and he said he plays aleph generally soooo yeeeeea tough sledding for me lol. CA has a TR hmg bot with mimetism along with seemingly everything else in that army lol. he also had 3-4 camo markers. he got first turn. he said i setup very well but it didnt seem like it by the way he just brutalized me hahaha. he brought his nasty 'asura-like' dude down one hallway with 3-4 other guys and in firing lane of his bot as well. he only got my daleth(which i repaired) first turn but he got the objective as well(objectives are fun). it didnt matter cause he had me pretty well pinned on one side so i made pushes on the other side in total cover of his TR bot. just unfortunately didnt have much fortune this game lol. he made i think at least 8 of 9 arm saves and he had approximately 10 crits(he said 15 crits but i dont think it was THAT high but it felt like it haha). so yea i got slaughtered! i even had my TO guy in the PERFECT position to hit the two guys from behind on the right side with some shotgun shells but he made both of the arm tests, turned and aro hack killed my guy from behind the water tower where i didnt see he had a repeater. 'sigh' lol. one of those 'learning games'! i definitely learned a lot from that game and he was a super nice guy and helpful!
