I started painting the daktari's cat eyes: olive drab. Olive drab mixed with gretchin green, Gretchin green, gretchin green and iyandan sun mix, iyanden sun. Iyanden sun mixed with fluorescent yellow.

Fluorescent yellow is the last layer and then I need to dot the pupils.

Well, tonight I did something a bit different. I played very lean and dropped my go to models. No expensive Intruders for my 300 point game. I went cheap. I had 17 orders, an Alguacil Link and a Wildcat Fireteam. I had a few nice pieces to run up the table, but nothing that was game changing on it's own.

It was a mirror of Evan's list: Lots of screw drivers, few hammers.

Evan's fame luck was not with him tonight, so I managed to squeak out a win.

Oh-be-Kay-be,

I played some Infinity at Olympic Cards and Comics.

First, I rode up with Joe B. John Allen, and George Spencer. What a great group of guys. The trip to Olympia blurred by.

The event was organized at Olympic Cards and Comics to try to be a half-way point between the Seattle and Portland players. There is no good halfway spot, but OCC is a good place to play. First, it is easy to get to off I-5. Second, the place is impressive. The store has something for every one inside. The staff is helpful and very female friendly. It is a place I would gladly take my daughters.

I like the rules of the store: No swearing. No politics. No religion.

I did tease and was teased by Gabi over me wearing my Timbers shirt in Sounders country.

The store has multiple sections and high ceilings. The sound is muffled, so I did not get the gamer's headache after the day.

Dylan Gould ran the event. He made the day seamless. I thank him for running a good event. Prize support was great.

So Dylan ran a four round event. The first round was a bye round. Players determined if they wanted to start the round with a win, a tie, or a loss. The round counted and was used to set seating for the event.

I picked a loss. It was my first H3 event. I was playing in a new meta, I was a last minute entry, and I did not care if I won or loss. I was looking for goods games against new opponents and against armies I do not regularly play.

Game One.

I played Joe B. From Vancouver, WA. I drove up with him and had never played him in any game system before.

Joe plays Tohaa, brutal, nasty Tohaa with Nehma , lots of snipers, and plenty of Makual. This was my second game vs. Tohaa, so I do not have a great deal of experience with them or how to play them.

I won WIP and had Joe place first and picked the far side. Mistake. I picked the wrong side. The side I gave Joe had the best fire lanes and a majority of the high ground. Did I mention he had lots of snipers?

Joe took advantage of all the fire lanes, took the first antennae. He raced to the second on top of the tallest building on the table.

Did I mention we were playing on a table filled with Chris Matthews' Top Down Terrain? That means multiple large buildings that are 7-9 inches tall that are large on the top then they are on the bottom.

My Bandit with the Killer Hacker was on the top of that building. He hid to stay alive. Joe bombed the top of the building with eclipse grenades to hid and hit the button.

The bandit engaged the button pusher and won combat.

On my turn, I used my Wildcat haris to spitfire the remainder of the triad off the building top. My bandit went prone and coup de grace a down triad member. Not only did I get my classified, but I scavenged the eclipse grenades. This was the game winner. The Bandit could toss Eclipse Grenades, hit the button, and revert to camo.

I tried to probe up my right flank, but the Gael Rael Viral Sniper with symbiomate and symboit army was too hard to take out. It took out Lupe, an ML, and an HMG......

With my advance thwarted, I squeak out a win.

It was a challenging game with a new opponent and an army I rarely play against: win.

Joe and I spoke in funny voices for half the game. What a hoot!

Game Two:

For the second game, I was matched against Andy I met Andy at Spike a few years back. Super nice guy. He had Corrigedor. I new looking at his force want his list would be with the exception of a single model: a Tom Cat Doctor.

First Turn, he beat the odds with with Wildcat Harris HRL vs. Lupe and her Firelink Alguaciles. I went into a hole. My The Lunokhod and Wildcat Spitefire Haris went on a killing spree.

His Tom Cat doc jumped in and saved his downed Intruder Sniper. That swung the game back in his favor.

I messed up and forgot my FO had a repeater. I could have spotlighted and telemetried his HVT. Instead , I ran around and fail three out four FO on the HVT.

One more FO and it would have been a tie.

In the end, I was one roll short of putting Charges on a building.

It was a fantastic, bloody game.

Game Three:

For the Third Game, I played joke from Seattle. Jake came down for the Rampage. He was rocking Combined Army! I was so excited. I have played Morat Aggression force twice, but never the full options. Jake had a tough list 10 orders. With an HMG Charintid LT, aTR remote , two Umbra hackers, a Maakeep Tracker with sniper rifle, doc worm with two bots, and a few Morats.

I had WIP and took the high ground on the Top Down Terrain table. Jake set up nicely and took up great positions. The list is plain tough. In an straight game without objectives, I don't think I would win, but with more orders and objectives to cover, I hoped to have the edge. Jake just did not have enough models to hit all four objectives and maintain fire lane supremacy.

I had trouble button pushing.

Jake' Datarazi could not throw smoke.

He risked an Umbra to take objectives, I was luck enough to counter and hit my classified.

It was a very challenging game. It was like playing Evan.

All in all a great day.

Game night was a challenge with the heat. I played a fun game against Evan. He played QK. I dropped down a pair of Bandits, a Wildcat Link, and an Alguacil link.

Evan had a great position. He had a Hafza HRL, a Ghulam link team with Sniper, and ML on the high ground. I had a hard time maneuvering. My Wildcat haris did a fair amount of damage. I even used a charge in close combat for the first time and exploded a Yuan-Yuan. The game was super close. Almost at the end, I remembered Lupe had smoke. I could have used it block of AROs from his three set up long range, shooters. Oh well, I blame the heat.

I would have played a second game against Set, but it was too hot.

Seth and I went out for beer instead.

Went to the Glimpses of Wonder ITS and had a blast. I came in last. I played Nate and Kevin well enough to give them a serious challenge and then my luck went stupid and I trounced Evan, but in doing so cost me points. Glimpses is a great store. I can't wait until the next ITS there!

Painted up another Reaper Bones cargo box. Then, I went back to painting up the last Wildcat for the Harris Team.

i have to say that was some darn good tactical play from you!  Had nothing really to do with the list but more you exploiting situations.  fun to see you play something different than your intruder(although honestly i love intruders...) and that kinda threw me off a bit.  also that was 4 very strong players i feel and beating up on rudra is nothing to shrug off :P keep playing those nomads and learning their dirty secrets... it will pay off!

1. The last Wildcat is done.

2. That leads Lupe Balboa. Some moron, being me, assembled Lupe wrong last fall. I pinned her, so the model is stuck in place, dragon body away from the wings..... Now , the wings will be like a flower in her hair and the dragon body, an odd toadfish creature.

3. Played Evan tonight. Lost 4-1. I took initiative on Frontline. I know it is an error, but I wanted to be forced to advance. Evan had three Yuan Yuan and a Bashi. That is a hard lot to beat back in a frontline game.
