JMGraham
Fine, lets try Bayou with their 11:00 curfew! I'm game. Just make certain you order lasties before closing time. #hereshopingforMacandJacks!
dalmer
... CAVEAT: I DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL... (whew, remembered this time) I know that the Irish pub on Commercial Street is open til 0200 hours on Tuesdays and has trivia Tuesdays. I do not know alcohol prices there, etc. but the clientele seems friendly. Dunno 'bout food either.
JMGraham
I think Uisce does cheese plates, but no substantial food of which to speak.

smashthedean
Uisce is also fairly ultra busy on their trivia nights as I recall. And hooray for Bayou!
Hobbitron
Dunno about it... but The Racket is supposed to be kinda nerdy. Never been there myself, so don't know food/drink details.... but the owners are pretty friendly!
smashthedean
I do enjoy The Racket quite a bit, but I'd be concerned about the noise level? We could give it a Tuesday night scouting tour sometime perhaps.
JMGraham
Oohs... Should we try the Racket? Falafel, cheesesteak sammies (including veggie), and open past 11 sounds promising...

Hobbitron
Anyone else feel like this is waaaay more difficult than it should be in a college town? The problem is you're all old farts. "Low noise, decent food late at night, good beer" Should all go out with your canes waving them at the college students :p

Hobbitron
Says the dad who never makes it out to game nights anymore because he loves his family so much. Lame! :P Sooooooooooooooon. I really wanna try 9th age on for size. Though due to time constraints might have to settle for playing X-Wing for now.
smashthedean
9th Age has indeed been a blast and is picking up a good number of players. Brad is starting to try out the Undying Dynasties and they seem pretty cool!

JMGraham
Bayou on Bay. Food was best non-NYP so far. Gotta try different things, though, because I ate way too much. Great yam fries. Beer was OK. No M&J, but they did have B&B Scotch. Food and beer prices were either more expensive or (as Kacy insists), exactly the same as NYP. Atmosphere was good, could hear each other, but concerns were raised about how we will fit on the nights where we have a big group. Our group was pretty small last night. So far, the quest for cheaper food and drink has demonstrated that NYP was criminally under costed before the latest price hike. Now it's par for the course. smashthedean
Price-wise, we were looking at: $10-12 a plate for a full plate, so more expensive than NYP $4-6 for an appetizer, so less expensive than NYP $4 a pint, so less expensive than NYP So basically if you were there for a full meal and a beer you'd end up paying about the same as the current NYP, but if you were needing to save money for a night and just get a beer or a beer and an app, like I know some people do, you'd get off a lot cheaper than NYP. I talked to the server and she said things were actually busier than normal for a Tuesday after 10 o clock (probably due to college students starting school tomorrow) and that things were usually fairly dead so we might be able to snag that bigger table most of the time. I wonder if they do reservations...
smashthedean
I'd also note that I thought the beer selection was fine, there was BB Scotch, an Aslan Stout (which exceeded expectations!), and an assortment of other lighter stuff that I glossed over. Seemed like there was something for everyone unless you're a die-hard Mac & Jack fan.
Fix
It's me. I'm the die-hard Mac&Jack fan. Atmosphere was fine. We're good on time, that they don't kick us out at 11. If we can get the big table when we need it we'll probably be all right. I gotta try a couple of other things on the menu before I can say the food is as good as NYP. I didn't look to see what they had in terms of salads. Say what you will, NYP's got a good kitchen. There's no savings here.
JMGraham
It's me. I'm the die-hard Mac&Jack fan. And me. With that said, Bayou on Bay is the most worthy of a second try yet.
