Gangs of Commorragh – Coming Soon

GoG-header.jpg

The deadly aerial manoeuvres and breakneck speed of the turf wars of Commorragh are soon coming to a battlefield near you.

Gangs of Commorragh allows you to recreate the violent skirmish battles for territorial supremacy that are waged constantly in the spires of the Dark City. Take charge of a feral gang of Hellion skyboarders, or a pack of lethal Reavers and carve out your empire in the webway’s last great city.

The box is an entirely self-contained game, giving you everything you need to play, including two gangs, rules and card scenery to recreate the jagged towers of Commorraggah’s forbidding skyline.

You can play quick one-off games, or a full campaign in which your gang will grow and develop as you win battles and claim more territory.

All in, Gangs of Commorragh is looking pretty exciting, and we’ll have more news about this new box game very soon.

Until then, watch the skies…*

So if I'm reading right, this is DE vs DE, in a box set. It includes "card" scenery, rather than actual terrain kits. And it being "entirely self-contained" sounds to me like they aren't expecting any expansions. I'm really having trouble getting excited about this one. Was hoping for this to be a Necromunda remake, but really doesn't sound like that's the direction they are going, or if they are, it's the DE version of that, which as a non-DE player, is not appealling.

It may not be appealing to you, but these board games are basically just about free money for GW. They use mostly existing sprues/models and the only development is a boardgame ruleset, plus box art and terrain/counters. It allows them to sell old models again with new value and provides value to people who already own the models by giving them something new to do with them. In addition, the boardgames are generally cheaper or comparable to the prices of the models themselves, so people buy them just to get discounted models.

Win-win-win.
