I'm torn as to playing … which event… etc. less issues with playing in the Open though. But I am thinking about planning something like Apoc on friday though… or even Thursday -into friday. and then just hanging out the rest of the time. -d

OK - I have been going through a bunch of old stuff I have … and repacking some - tossing others and just trying to organize. I have an Apple Lisa .. and the last time I was dinking around with it (started it up) before I put it into storage the last time… I had a monitor problem. This is a small like 9" (guess) monitor (b/w old pre-mac basically). The OS is fine but the monitor is "rolling" or not coming into focus right. Like an old TV where it would show like 2-3 copies of the same image…? Anyhow only the one image is right… because I poked around at icons with the mouse and I figured that much out. ANYHOW - I am not IT techie… I don't know what this issue is really. Is it a bad monitor… a bad card/controller or something else? The Lisa is in great shape otherwise ( I got it from the original owner about 15 years ago). I have the external HD.. and printer that came with it as a set. My current idea is to rip the monitor out… and put in an LCD - and either mini mac hardware (running a flavor of linux) or even an iPad lol. Maybe something else… there is plenty of room in the box. But having seen some of these Lisa's go for 10's of thousands of $ on ebay from time to time - I had thought about possibly selling it at some point if it was fully operational. Anyhow - anyone have a clue as to where to start with this monitor issue? … or should I just remove it… and hack the box? -d ps. here is a Lisa…

My son wants to try out 40k… and I have about 1200 points of old DE stuff - mostly wyches - and a couple NIB older Ravegers/Raiders. After going over things with him - he may want to do some other army rather than DE. But I have been thinking I could set this DE army up as an army that could be used at maybe 1450, 1850 - or even 2k. He is eager to learn - and currently likes the look of the older DE. I explained that DE probably isn't the best learning list… and tried to steer him towards marines. He does like the grey knights - but as far as just learning and practicing painting - I figured it would be ok to have him mess around this with older DE stuff I had. I have been working hard on setting up my garage for garage hammer - and several of my nephews are also interested in wargaming. In the end - I will have a playable learning army for others to try out 40k that isn't my normal Eldar stuff. Long term I will probably put together a simple marine army as well. So on the cheap I am trying to fill out the rest of the army - so we can build a simple stand alone older DE list. I am looking to pick up warriors - raiders… reavers mostly. But if you have some unused DE stuff that you would like to get rid of let me know. -d

hmmm I have a bunch - but not sure if I have a family event that day…. :/

Do we know whom will be the 40k Open HOG? Just trying to think about army list options.

OK - I will be missing tonight - my trip for training is up in the air for now ( as of 15 min ago) and I am not sure which other week I will be missing. I was hoping to work on my OFCC army in the league... but with the OPEN and the TEAM event on the same days ... I have been thinking hard about which direction I will go. This of course changes my army list options considerably. I hope I can nail down the basics of an idea soon.... (as the Harlequin rumors stalled my first option - at least for a month). Next week I will be there - not sure with what lol. -d

I may consider the open... just to be flexible. Also - any interest in putting together an Apoc game/event somewhere in those days (thinking thursday friday). not looking for participants - but more of a gauge of interest. -d

I think the painter… of the army should win… not the purchaser or the painting. If you have a commissioned army - you should let the judges know so they can decide how they want to do things. To me best painter should be reserved for the person whom did the work.

I was really thinking I would jump into wood elves… and back into fantasy a couple weeks ago. But since this version 9 stuff has been being tossed around I am in the same boat. I will wait till things shake out before I imagine myself getting into fantasy. -d

we get extra points if we can make Burk cry… right? -- I wouldn't join a league that somehow required me to buy stuff… that is just annoying. I'll be doing much the same as you WarlordGhrom… old stuff pulled from boxes or unused (unpainted) stuff is my goal for an army. -d

hmmm at this point I only have stuff laying around on my bench… Eldar ready to organized… Corsairs. But first game or so may be with bits of other things that I have ready to go. Free time isn't good these days -d

I also remembered… I have about 10 or so chain sword wielding RT era Eldar… look beefy… I could use them as scorpions or something. not sure. But I will have to take a closer look at the models again. But I will have to check on the rules - I don't think you can assault from the WWP… or is that changed? -d

hmmm I have a unit of converted and built … half painted… harlequin jet bikes…set up to be Shining Spears… with lances (from Dark Elves in fantasy)… that could be kinda cool perhaps. I will pull them out and see how they play in 7th… I have yet to try them since 5th. Those could pop out of a web way - -d

well... I have a full unit of painted hornets... pulse lasers... but it seems a bit OTT. I could do a wraith knight as well (as I picked another up to paint). The wasps are intended to be "counts as"... because I want to somehow work in my old zoats. The weapons are iffy ( but one has what seems to easily be a missile launcher)... but I could see the scatter and s-canons working for the others (aside from the champion zoat which has a power fist and flamer --- I wasn't planning on using him). The specters - yeah they are still un-assembled and not painted... so leaving them out is less work. But i need to do them someday lol. i have a ton of bikes - thats an easy do for the list as well. all food for thought - and very reasonable... I will have to mull over my reasoning on the web way portal as well. -d

Well in my OP i am looking primarily at an OFCC type setting. OR not overly ( or overtly ) competitive. Your personal opinion (based on your local meta-mumbo-jumbo...etc) is what I am asking for. I just think your overthinking the review. I understand...when I am asking a forum such as this...that ALL the opinions are from the point of view of the person giving me the opinion. To me this is a given... always. I am not really sure why I would ask for opinions about my list based on my own skewed point of view. I am asking for a review in others eyes...from their point of view. So I am clearly seeing the list - from outside my viewpoint. Hence... the second sentence from the OP... Really - outside my head opinions matter - rated for OFCC which is really my standard for "fun" lol. But, like I stated in the OP... I am not looking for clues to optimize the list by making more purchases or major changes. I really want to use my 1989-1990 figures where I can (original RT era Eldar Corsairs did not have jet packs). Heck - I may play this army for OFCC and then just relegate the army for display lol. Anyhow, AP - I do appreciate you pointing me to try and give people whom want to "rate" the list some direction. -d p.s. "what and I looking for from people's comments on the list.." will this list work for OFCC without either being to strong or too soft... as it stands - based on the typical OFCC rating and/or meta. I'm not looking to take this list to TSHFT or the Guardian Cup or what have you. It will be a fluffy list (in my RT era point of view) to have a list utilizing the figures I have.
