  1. Do it under the guise of a themed campaign. You can come up with your own missions (and thus limitations on army building) in order to force a more friendly meta. Small team games are great for breaking down that total fear of losing. For whatever reason, it seems to give you hope to play with someone else on your side. :) You could even make it more narrative. Say for instance, you allow them 250pts for an HQ choice, and two troops, but no vehicles. The mission is that they have to investigate some ruins trying to recover blah blah blah. You then DM the other side with something like nids or necrons or the like to try and hinder them. In the end, they should win the objective. Basically, create an environment that they are more comfortable with. The current 40K is fairly different from back when I started long ago...and it is overwhelming at times. There is no reason to jump into that right from the start. Show them a version of the game that they are more used to. Introduce the new aspects of it slowly. At least you'll be playing.
  2. When you said side saddle one, did you mean the special character Dogs of War model? Or is that another actual Bret sorceress model?
  3. All of this people...all of it...(well except for two of the foam trays...) but pretty much all of it...this is what you get....buy it!
  4. So this is a bit unusual, but I figured I would give it a try. That money will let me buy the models I want for my other projects. Oh heck, I'll even throw in my Dystopian Wars prussian army.
  5. Yes, but that was my point in the above quote. In describing what happens when a character on a monster mount gets hit with a stone thrower, it references the rider and mount as separate models. Hence, they would each take the test on their own init, just like that of a unit.
  6. So doe that apply if you have a vamp in a unit of zombies and they get hit by the spell? Do the zombies get to use the vamps Init?
  7. Ugh, I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but the section on characters and mounts kind of spells things out differently. Page 105 of the little red book. Under Templates. Here is throws things all out of whack because it states the term "model". It is the only place I have seen them reference the rider and mount as separate models. In other sections, they refer to them as character and mount. But there....it uses "models". So therefore, in the case where a template spell makes each model take a test....
  8. I'd be up for it once the Rampage is done. I can only do one league at a time. But this would be a great way for me to start my Tempestus and Space Wolf army.
  9. Under the section of ridden monsters, it says that when the monster's base is touched by a template, either from a spell or warmachine, then both models are hit. If there is a strength difference (ie stone thrower), then randomize to see who gets hit by the higher strength. Under characteristic test, it said that in the case where a model has more than one value (or unit), then use the highest. So basically, the dragon and the vamp are hit, but as they are a single unit, they both use the highest value.
  10. Bad Words: What a great movie. Perfect cast. Very funny. 9/10
  11. I made up a quick list consisting of a vamp lord on zombie dragon, and a tomb king on a war sphinx. And 5 direwolves. Am I gonna get gut punched?
  12. No painting this weekend as I had kid duty. I did get to play though and have updated my blog with a recap. :)
  13. I don't see that thing on a stand, just on its little spindly tentacles. Makes me wonder if anyone at GW actually carries armies around.
  14. Was able to look it up in the Knight book. Actually, a knight detachment is separate from a normal allied detachment and can be taken in addition to. They even have an example in the book about marines taking imperial guard as an allied detachment and then a knight as a knight detachment. So I'm good!
  15. I think I do like the wheels better. May have to talk to Mr. Shoemaker about pimpin' my rides. The halftrack look also appeals to me. Quick question, can I have space wolves, MT, and a knight in the same list, or only two of those?
  16. Is there any concern with having just one troop choice? Not an expert obviously, so that's why I'm asking.
  17. Looking for an imperial Knight kit, new space wolf flier, and the new space wolf dread. Will also consider Militarum Tempest units. I have Space marines and nids to trade, and will trade in your favor. I will update the post later with more details. My nid post is accurate, but the fex's, warriors, and swarms are gone. For the marines, I know there are some salamander units (terms, rhino, tacs), a set of FW rhino doors for salamanders, other metal terms, quite a few attack bikes and a few bikes, plus a few vehicles, and some metal scouts. Will need to take pics though. PM me if interested.
  18. I saw that Wizkids new Dragon Attack Wing was just released. Anyone have a look yet?
  19. I'd like to see a cool aquatic race emerge. Depending on the breed, some need full on environmental suits to survive, while others just need breathers of some sort. Give them cybernetic beasts as well. The modeling options are fantastic. They need some kind of cool weaponry that was designed to work underwater, yet still usable above. Like maybe harpoon launchers with various types of warheads? A dual weapon that also fires a new form of energy for surface use.
  20. Update to my blog and getting ready for week 5. I think I will try painting up my two heroes for this week. :)
