  1. Depends on how many Melf pelts and how much Dust is in it for me!
  2. Definitely the latter. The former is only good for exporting rock videos to the rest of the universe.
  3. Welcome aboard! Sounds like you'll fit in well. We have a fair number of 40k players, and Ninth Age (our local replacement-of-choice for WHFB) is also popular. We play a fair bit of other games, as well, and have semi-frequent narrative campaigns for skirmish games and the like. Looking forward to meeting you!
  4. I'm out for tonight. School starts for the kids tomorrow, and we've got to get them ready tonight. Gods help us! See y'all next week!
  5. Ali ikely never, unless I start playing more than 1 game of Flames of War a year!
  6. Awesome! 2k works great for me. Prepare to be snuck up on and murdered by gigantic genetically-engineered power-armour wearing post-human ninjas.
  7. Just a bump to say there are only a couple of days left on this sale. Get it while the getting is cheap(er)!
  8. I'm still on a Raven Guard kick. Anyone want to play some 8th ed 40k?
  9. I've played it a handful of times, but haven't played it in ages. Not for lack of trying, though! there are a good number of people with 30k-compatible armies (orat least who are 30k-curious), but it's not being actively played too much. We had big plans for a 30k campaign last summer, but the organizer ended up getting a job instead (Eli, I'm looking at you!). I haven't played ZM yet, but am stoked about it (both as stand-alone games and to represent the interior of a complex as part of a larger scenario). The board should also work well for Infinity.
  10. Yea, congrats to you and Allan! And to the Riders, of course. I've been running a Decapitation Strike, mostly made out of Betrayal at Calth models.: 20 infiltrating Tacticals with Maun. 10 Tacs in a Drop Pod 5 Plasma Guns in a Drop Pod 5 Melta Guns in a Drop Pod 6 infiltrating Mor Deythan with combi-flamers in a Rhino 5 Dark Furies Deathstorm Drop Pod Close-combat Contemptor Dread in a Drop Pod Twin Kheres Mortis Contemptor 5 Catiphractii Terminators with combi-meltas and a variety of other weapons It's made for a pretty fun infantry-heavy rapid strike force. Good at surgical strikes, but not so much at protracted battles. If you ever have an interest in heading up to B'ham some Tuesday eve for a game, let me know! Joey's in the process of painting a Zone Mortalis set for me, as well.
  11. Looks like it's just the spearmen that are left for your order!
  12. On the flip side, while I could likely do a 1-day event, I probably can't commit to a two-day event, especially with what else is going on in November.
  13. Whole lot going on there. I like that the bass is audible (and good), and I always appreciate relentless bass drums. Can't say that I care much for the clean vocals or the violin, but the contrast is kind of cool. In other news, Tribulation started recording a new album.
  14. I'm more than a bit biased, but if you have the scratch, Worldsmith Industries makes a damn fine product. Plus, they're currently having a sale for Ordo members. See links in signature! Also, 4Ground makes a fantastic product. Great company!
  15. Hmmm.... not a fan. Though, ill reserve final judgement for better pictures. The books always emphasize Mortarion's gauntness. I expected to see that replicated here, rather than just another bloated Nurgle Daemon Prince. I always pictured something more like the C'tan model with the scythe.
  16. Cool beans! I'm currently on a Raven Guard high, so I hope to have a painted 30k army before too long. How'd things go at the OFCC? I haven't heard much news from the 30k side of things.
  17. I just re-read Deliverance Lost, so the sting of giving Alpha Legion the exact same Tactic and Stratagem as Raven Guard is particularly apropos.
  18. Hmmm... some cool stuff, but I'm a bit disappointed that a chunk of the renegade chapter tactics and the like are identical to some of the loyalist ones. It makes the individual chapters less unique. I'd rather the renegade tactics be different, but equally cool. For example, they made the Alpha Legion basically a bad-guy Raven Guard instead of making them the cultist-horde insurgents they've been in the past. There's some cool stuff, for sure, but I was hoping for more variety.

    Ughhhhhh

Flew into SeaTac last night. It smelled like crap and made my throat burn. Glad to be back in B'ham. While hazy, it's breathable. The combo of the heat and the smoke must be brutal.
  20. Are you coming up to B'ham, Brick? Or did you inadvertently post in the wrong Game Night thread?
  21. Sounds great! If you could do 2000, that'd be great. Otherwise, just let me know what point value works for you. If you'd like to borrow models from me, you're welcome to do so.
  22. I'll be back in town, and very much wanting to take my 40k Raven Guard for a spin. I'm happy to play anywhere between 1500 and 2000, though prefer toward the higher end of the spectrum. I'll have a proxy or two. Any takers?

  24. Hmmm... I guess the better way to do it would be Company Veterans. Same cost as Sternguard, they can all still have combiflamers, but then you can also trade your bolt pistol in for a chainsword. Given the close-support nature of the unit, a (free) extra close-combat attack sounds pretty reasonable.
  25. I just played my first game with the new Raven Guard chapter tactics and stratagem. It was amazing. Fun and thematic, without being overpowering. GW really nailed it this time. It felt like playing 30k RG, but with much fewer troops (which fits the post-Heresy feel of things). My go-to unit was a unit of 5 Sternguard with combi-flamers, infiltrating with the Strike from the Shadows stratagem. I used my 30k Mor Deythan models, and it suited their role perfectly. They struck early and assasinated a key unit, and then fought tooth-and-nail to extricate themselves from the untenable position they put themselves in when they over-extended. I'm not certain of they meant to give all Sternguard access to combi-weapons (in the index it says in one line that 2 Sternguard can upgrade to combi-weapons, and in the next line that all can), but I hope it sticks. It's pricy, but the feel of those 30k special weapons teams is priceless.
