  1. This would be awesome if, as they rank next to one another, one base's pattern carries onto the one adjacent to it. For the whole unit. Awesome for sure!
  2. Which is why captains are responsible for the second level filtration (players themselves should be the first) and the LRC will have the final say. If players don't mind penalties then, by all means, try and game the system!
  3. All time great game, that one. I can't really argue, but only for the OFCC. Well, mostly anyway. I like playing games wherein I have to be crafty. Not in the 'gamey' sense, but in the way I have to play tactically. I like the challenge of taking on a superior list with some off the wall fluffy list. Even if I lose I give a good game and I (as well as my opponent I suppose) get to try out new units and unusual lists. Fun times. I loved me some 'Ard Boyz events though! And from the sounds of it most of our local tournaments are like those in your neck of the woods. 'Out of the book Warhammer' is pretty standard around here, though our talent pool isn't nearly as deep as yours. I certainly am not above hordeing up my Witches with a Cauldron and tossing on a Wildform or two to go with my pair of Warlock units! Though that list had a Beastmaster on a Manticore too, so maybe it doesn't count for that much after all...... Still won the event tho, so there's that I guess.
  4. Sadly it's about about a 12-13 hour round trip for me, not counting game time. And traffic. Otherwise, it would be ON!!
  5. Reasonable numbers of Gnobblars don't count for diddly in SwedeComp. As in less than 50 Gnobbers per unit amd those are only -4 comp points per unit.
  6. I'd so be there......Only I'm not, so I won't.... It would be fun too, 'cause I have lots of Witches and lots of Bloodletters....
  7. Bloodletters, the way I would put them forth: Herald of Khorne, Exalted Locus of Wrath (Hatred) Herald of Khorne, Greater Locus of Fury (Frenzy), BSB 59 Bloodletters, full command, Standard of Discipline (+1 LD) 1231 points The unit would have Hatred until that HoK died, then they would have Frenzy. That is a lot of Killing Blow attacks!
  8. True, but the ward drops to 4+/maybe 3+ whenever that might come into play. Also, the Heralds only confir one benefit at a time. Hatred would be in effect until that Herald died, followed by the Frenzy and finally the MR2.
  9. That was about all I expected from them and they did manage a few dangerous terrain wounds over the course of the event. Points well spent in any list I think.
  10. Bloodletters (all Daemons of Khorne actually) get +1S on the charge. Stats: M4 WS5 S4/5 T3 I4 A1 Adding a Herald would give the ability to get Hatred or Frenzy. They have a 6+/5++ with MR1 (could be MR2 from a Herald). All attacks are magical, have the KB rule and they are ItP. They would obviously suffer a bunch of wounds, but with the number of models in the unit could absorb them easily and retain Steadfast (LD7/8 with the Herald). As long as boxcars didn't come up in the first round I think they would be in good shape. I agree with you that Malekith's magic could be a huge factor. But let's not forget that none of his magic is automatic and the opposition gets a chance to dispel/save against it. And he could go down the hole if things go bad. There's always that.....
  11. I suspect my experiences are outliers from the norm, but they did great for me. I would suggest more than 20 if you have any real expectations from them. And keep them near to your general as well. But that is the beauty of Gnobblars: My expectations were absolutely nonexistant for them. That fact that they did much of anything was all gravy! I should also mention that between the two units I had they managed to kill/contribute to killing a number of Raindogs WE models. Sharp Stuff is actually useful, especially vs. T3!
  12. lol, true! This is actually good. Even if you lose the first round of combat (which you most likely will), the Bloodletters would be Steadfast and are in turn likely to win subsequent rounds. Toss in a Herald with the Hatred locus for rerolls of your own. If you are getting the charge I would put some of the attacks into the Cauldron as strength 5 will give your best (early) chance to destroy it. But subsequent volume of attacks should eventually do the job. The CoB does get a 4++ though, which obviously makes it tougher to bring down. I'd make the HoK a BSB, or even take a second as a BSB. Obviously cuts down the starting number of Bloodletters, but greatly increases the chances of sticking around.
  13. I can't believe I haven't been playing my Cauldron as causing Terror, and subsequently Fear. How could I forget that.......
  14. I had a couple of post I had a couple of conflicting thoughts and posts in my brain. I was thinking about the BoTWD from the HE suggestion and I had it in my brain that the BotEF would give me magical attacks. And we are in agreement about the paired magic weapons, but you are still only getting them on a 50/50 of a 50/50. You only get the ability on a 4+, then it is a random item (she has two). Corners count for maximizing frontage and, as I said, your formation would dictate how I would have to align. Malekith does not suffer from KB or multi wounds per his rules. He takes only one wound instead.
  15. And, just as you keep Malekith on a corner to stay away from Hellebron/CoB, the unit standard would be placed to be out of BtB with Malekith. I'm guessing you run the unit 6 wide? Maybe 5? It is possible, depending on your formation, that if I get the charge I could put Malekith in BtB with Hellebron/CoB. And the Destroyer ability is random, not automatic. He has to hit (which he's very likely to do), then roll a 4+ to destroy anything, then it's a 50/50 to get the weapon (of which there are two, but they have one listing now where they were listed individually before so I'd say they are one item now).
  16. Yeah, as I just put up the Wailing Banner would be replaced with the Flaming Banner. Why no AoD+Dawnstone? Magic Armor and Talisman looks legal to me. Correct, we all go simultaneously (I must have had ASF+ASL in my brain ). But Hellebron will smoke most of your Knights in all likelihood, and if you don't kill her then I suspect Malekith goes down next. Any knights that happen to survive Hellebron are facing long odds surviving the Witches. Even Malekith has his work cut out for him vs. the number of magical attacks he will be receiving I think. Run the numbers, see where we land.
  17. The Terror banner was an afterthought. My initial plan, and what I would likely go back to, is the Flaming Banner on the unit. And I get a couple more Witches out of the deal, or some other goodie on one of the characters. I would assume that, as the Cauldron has to be in the middle, that Malekith would not be in BtB. This has been confirmed above.
  18. My OFCC 2014 list: Slaughtermaster, General, Magic Level 4, Lore of Beasts, Charmed Shield Butcher, Level 2, Lore of the Great Maw, Iron Fist Hunter, Iron Fist, Beastkiller, Dragonhelm Hunter, Longstrider, Enchanted Shield, Dragonbane Gem (7) Ogres, Look-Out Gnoblar, Iron Fist, Full Command (8) Ogres, Look-Out Gnoblar, Iron Fist, Full Command (20) Gnoblars, Trappers (20) Gnoblars, Trappers (4) Leadbelchers, Musician (4) Yhetees (4) Yhetees (4) Sabretusk Pack (4) Sabretusk Pack (1) Stonehorn, Harpoon Launcher (1) Giant (1) Giant TOTAL: 2799.0 That list SwedeComp score is a 19.2.
  19. Gnoblars are awesome! I had a unit hold up Skullcrushers in two different games at the OFCC for 2 combat rounds each. Epic!
  20. How about: Hellebron on a Cauldron Death Hag w/ Witchbrew Master BSB, Armor of Destiny, Sea Dragon Cloak, shield, Dawnstone (2+RR/4++) 33 Witch Elves, full command, Wailing Banner (Fear tests for you, and at a -3) 1236 points 8-10 S10 attacks @ I9 from Hellebron (goes before any of your attacks). Those should clear out a number of the COKs. Most of the rest of the attacks are at lower strength, but there will be a ton of them BTW, how many COK are in the original unit - 14ish? I'm assuming Malekith is also on a CO? Yeah, it will come down to dice; but I like my chances here.
  21. Sean Zern was playing Brets, as was John Cadice. I will look a bit further into the lists and see who else may have been. Those two for sure tho.
  22. Well, if it's so clear cut and obvious then why isn't End Times being widely accepted - both here and worldwide. I'm not saying that GW won't say "Yep, that's the way of it", but I am not buying into the whole thing just yet.
  23. As I posted in the other thread: I'm not convinced. Yet. I see both sides and am erring on the side of this is not the new face. Having said that, I would not be surprised to see Warhammer go this way.
