  1. I would have mounted my Hunters if the 50% allowance was in play last year. At the very least I would have thrown a third Hunter in the mix. I think this is an excellent plan! If I wasn't already affiliated I would jump on board!
  2. Unless the dragon gets killed from under the rider. I did just that at the last OFCC with my soft ogres vs. Big Pat's Khorne warriors - in the top of the first turn. The dragon and lord were wounded be an Amber Spear and the dragon was finished by the Stonehorn rider's harpoon launcher. The khorne lord joined the warriors unit in Pat's half of the turn. Threat neutralized without a cannon (nor doom diver ) before he did anything. I got the unit and lord a couple turns later with a perfectly executed combo charge and some fantastic regen saves after a fortuitous Trollguts casting. Beast wizard and a pseudo-bolt thrower - plenty of armies can come up with that (or the equivalent). Dragons, while good, are not the game dominating pieces they once were.
  3. Only if EKM is penalized heavily enough. An 8, a pair of 12s and an 18 equals 50 - easy peasy. A softy, two solids and an EKM steamroller. I will put together a list and see how capable the rest of the list works out to be with a 140 handicap.
  4. How did the rest of the game go? What turn did EK Malekith go down? Did his loss turn the game or cause the DE to lose?
  5. Overcomped at 140 is incorrect I think. Nagash is 140 and that is about right I think. I would peg EK Malekith as better. I'm with Nathan. I've played with and against Malekith in his regular form. He is very good in that incarnation. EK Malekith is better. My problem with EK Malekith is the same issue I have with Nagash (and KFA too) - the issue being that the games are very likely to be polarized. Either the other player will have the tools to handle (and use them effectively) those guys and the big meanie gets taken out and that player gets rolled once the big meanie is gone. Or the other player doesn't have the tools (or doesn't use them effectively) and gets rolled by the big meanie. Neither of those situations fall in line with the OFCC imho.
  6. SwedeComp is always evolving. When will the SwedeComp cut-off be for lists? We have a 'lists must be in by' date, but if I submit my list today tomorrow's SwedeComp pack could be different than the one I used for today's submission. I think there also needs to be a start date for list submissions and the most current (at that time) SwedeComp be in effect. If a newer version gets released in that window then too bad.
  7. I am excited to get a pair to run in regular games! If only they would get off the boats......
  8. That's what I hear too. Though that has been floating out there for some time. Looks like it might finally come true. ????
  9. I have a bunch of stuff I think you'd like. PM me a number I can text some pics to if you want a peek.
  10. I had a conversation yesterday that echoed that point. I hope GW isn't turning WHFB into Warmachinifaux.
  11. There are a few doozies in the mix for sure. Ethereal Dread Saurian for one, big version of the Rogue Idol is another. Eth.DreadSaurian can wreck armies.
  12. I have 8 NOS, 8 assembled and about half with a basecoat and another 10ish bare plastic off sprue. I have a bunch of spear arms as well. Need any skinks? I have a bunch I don't need. LMK.
  13. I had run my Firebelly with a Potion of Speed so I could get the BW out sooner in combat, but I think the Ruby Ring is the better choice. Unless you are using 2, in which case take both!
  14. Sorry for my delayed reply - life, ya know? I've played Ogres for a long time (nearly since they came out) and have used all sorts of lists. I have played with everything in the book, except a Thundertusk (tho I did pick up a box recently) at one time or another. Many of my lists tend to be 'unconventional' or get label as 'bad'. But I have mustered those sub-optimal lists to success far more often than not. I'm not patting my own back here nor inflating my ego (I don't know for sure, but I strongly suspect no one's penis gets bigger from winning a game of Warhammer - no matter how some guys might act when they play to win). I am only saying don't arbitrarily dismiss units from the book that other people say are not good just because popular opinion says so. My OFCC Ogre list from this year was on the chopping block for being too weak: LORDS Slaughtermaster, General, Magic Level 4, Lore of Beasts, Charmed Shield HEROES Butcher, Level 2, Lore of the Great Maw, Iron Fist Hunter, Iron Fist, Beastkiller, Dragonhelm Hunter, Longstrider, Enchanted Shield, Dragonbane Gem CORE (7) Ogres, Look-Out Gnoblar, Iron Fist, Full Command (8) Ogres, Look-Out Gnoblar, Iron Fist, Full Command (20) Gnoblars, Trappers (20) Gnoblars, Trappers SPECIAL (4) Leadbelchers, Musician (4) Yhetees (4) Yhetees (4) Sabretusk Pack (4) Sabretusk Pack RARE (1) Stonehorn, Harpoon Launcher (1) Giant (1) Giant I think this is the first list I've used without a Firebelly since their arrival. I played a Deathstar list at a local event recently that featured a pair of Firebellies and they were great in tandem (I usually only include one). As you can see that list is laden with 'poor choices', but I can tell you (as can my opponents) that this is far more capable than it looks. I will break down the choices and my thoughts on other choices in a bit.
  15. I'll offer some advice when I am not on my phone. I will say that Ogres are great fun with lots of viable builds.
  16. I'm hoping that the magic phase settles somewhere in the middle. The new version really would need very little changing to be much more reasonable.
