Yes, there are books but they suck. I found them truly disappointing given Del Toro's participation.

Yeah, I think I only read the original trilogy of Thomas Covenant and loved how different it was from everything else. And if anyone gets a pass on "woe is me" it's a dude with leprosy!

The books that caught my attention when I was in Jr/Sr High were by Rober Heinlein, Stephen Donaldson (still love the Thomas Covenant series), Madeline L'engle, Andre Norton, and Frank Herbert. What I have read of WoT so far doesn't even touch the Witch World, Dune, or Thomas Covenant series.

Um...are you seriously comparing the first two WoT books to A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back? Yeah...not so much.

OK, so I am half way through Book 2 of Wheel of Time and...I don't get it. Why is everyone so crazy for this series? Jordan writing is mediocre at best and the story is definitely nothing new. And I am already jumping over huge walls of pointless text and you are telling me that it gets WORSE? No thanks. Time to find something else.

The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne Basically, it is a cross between The Dresden Files and Percy Jackson. Hearne wants to be Jim Butcher so badly! I want to like it but I just can't. I bought the first three books in a lot so I am determined to finish all three but it is a bit of slog. I love that it focuses on Celtic mythos but it is just so internally inconsistent. Plus, after 2100 years of hiding the main character basically starts to wipe every mythos he can find. Plus, humans are just so outclassed they are insignificant. Plus, Hearne's favorite word is "a$$."
