  1. Which was a bit overkill for what those stores are really.
  2. Warehouse 13 Season 4. After a 3 month hold wait from the library. Overall good stuff but they keep upping the ante on the cliffhanger season endings which is kinda annoying.
  3. Schlock cinema review. Creature with the Atom Brain: 6/10 : 1955 science zombie film. A gangster who was deported teams up with a german scientist to reanimate the dead with radiation and is out for revenge on those to put him away. Starring the Richard 'Governor of Hawaii' Denning. Some really painful 1950s honey you run in the kitchen and fix dinner this is man talk lines but fair acting and neat story. I missed last weeks showing of This Island Earth for the kids school band concert as he is in the band. It was change in schedule in memoriam for Russell 'The Professor' Johnson. That one is actually a quality film and you should see it if you haven't happily it is one I have already seen. One of the all time classic sci-fi movies with one of the coolest looking monsters ever. And if you can track down the Raymond F. Jones short stories that the movie is based on as they are great fun as well.
  4. Just because is a valid reason in Japanese fiction. Mostly a way for the big oppressive goverment to put the fear of acting out into the rest of the population from what I gathered.
  5. Anyone here play? I picked up cheap after trying on the free weekend from steam. Fun mix of tower defense and FPS and so far well worth the $4 and change I spent on it.

    Pie for breakfast

Thats why they taste soooo goood. When I get asked about the apple cake I make on occasion my response is of course it is yummy, it has 2 cups of sugar and a stick and half of butter.

    Pie for breakfast

Pie is awesome for breakfast! Besides what else is quiche but scrambled egg pie? And I find it best when made with bacon.
  8. Either way I don't want to see it.
  9. Now that would get us gamers to burn calories easily.
  10. I don't think the tournament scene is what the new supplements are aimed at. They really look to me more of here are some cool ways to use different units and scenarios and not have to make up rules as you go. This is for the guys who meet on weekend afternoons/evenings just to get together an have a fun time with cool models and be able to try something out other than lining up on opposite sides and grabbing objectives, etc. And I think that is a good thing.
  11. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull : 8/10 : I dunno why people dissed on this one. So it was commies and aliens which fits in well with the 50s just fine. Other than the absurdity of the lead lined fridge it wasn't any more crazy than The Ark and Nazis, Thugees and miracle stones, and the Holy Grail. I enjoyed it.
  12. The Leech Woman : 6/10 : So yeah Doctor obsessed with finding a way to make the old young again, married to an alcoholic older codependent wife he hates cause she is older than him... Enter 140 year old test subject with a secret powder to hold back aging and a secret to a lost tribe in Africa where she says they have the secret to become young again. What could possibly go wrong. Anyway everyone in this film is pretty evil and rotten. Some good lines but sadly no leeches of any sort. Colleen Gray and Gloria Talbot are definitely easy on the eyes. The MST3K version is probably a better version.
  13. Thats a wee bit of a drive from Seattle for just a game of 40k.
  14. Thats nice, and less pricey than the KR cardboard cases.
  15. http://www.playunplugged.com/2014/01/review-warhammer-40000-kill-team-ebook/ http://www.blacklibrary.com/games-workshop-digital-editions/Kill-Team.html This is all I know so far...
  16. Winter Quarter Schlock Cinema time Reptilicus : 7/10 : Danish godzilla rip off with a marionette giant lizard thing. Oh he we came upon this ice preserved lizard while drilling in Lapland. Oh hey look the tissue appears to be regenerating after an accidental thawing, hey lets see what it grows into even though we estimate to be ginormous cause you know 'SCIENCE!' what could possibly go wrong. It was shot in both Danish and English with mostly the same actors. The general does a competent american accent. There are random bits of totally wooden delivery and scenes that seem to almost lead into 'oh it is going to be that kind of movie, those liberal Danes' but for better or worse doesn't. It does have good plot device in that any part of the monster blown off would eventually grow into a new one so blowing it up is not an option. You Tube blatant copyright infringement watching. Caltiki The Undying Monster : 7/10 : Blob like creature made to grow by radiation and an implausible comet... anyway good photography and supposedly most of the directing by a fresh on the scene Mario Bava. Some nice gore scenes in black and white. It was shot to look like a British scifi/horror film but way more graphic gore than anything else I have seen for 1959.
  17. Heck I remember if you subscribed at the right time you would get %100 of the subscription in boxes... Then they quit doing that and oddly I quit subscribing. I do always like the pics. But it has been good/bad/inbetween in the long run it has had. I used to pick it up when it was a general gaming magazine. Really it was never all that good after they quit running Thrud the Barbarian. :)
  18. I have had issues with all sorts of brushes but yeah keep the paint out of the ferrule (and I have been bad at that in the past) and a +1 to the army painter brushes, Good quality brush and the triangle handle is wonderful in the hands compared to the standard round ones.
  19. One of the best guys we had on our admin team years ago was a lingustics major, but the base education and principles for pattern recognition of it worked well with his main job of performance monitoring. I find a lot of the basic logic I had to learn for the higher level math courses extremely useful for the problem solving I have to do for server support. On the whole most BAs are a ticket to here you have the background to survive the specific job training we are going to throw at you and just because you got a degree in X does not mean that 15 years later you will be doing anything related to it.
  20. Jollyork you should note that they play those battles for the battle reports multiple times and use the best one there could have been some very cringeworthy outcomes and those don't make it to print. I do like the here lets make something up and play it as it throws back to v1.0 which was meant to be more on that level. Make up your scenario, what the forces should look like, etc and usually have a referee/game master. Not sure how something like that would work for a tournament. Oh I can't use Elites/Troops/Heavy in this scenario... I don't have a replacement 500 points elsewhere with me, or if you do then how big a kit box full of toys are you having to lug around and then the time required to change up the list every round. Malifaux makes it easier with the much lower model count but I can't see it working logistically as well for 40k. That said some custom missions with random secondary mission/objectives for battle points should be very doable. You may want to play test them a bit with various armies.
  21. I have 2 full metal apothecaries in my pile of unfinished things if that will do.
  22. You could also go with a basic cardstock image or some kind of papercraft thing. The game that X-Wing is based on originally just used cards and later on they started making miniatures for it.
  23. 15mm fantasy minis? http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/reddragon.html http://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/collections/15mm-fantasy/products/dde6
  24. Oh yeah the 3rd and 4th (sadly not in order) Tiffany Aching books from Terry Pratchett. YA fiction in the Discworld series. All four books are wonderful and the Nac Mac Feegle are the perfect comic icing on the cake of the stories.
