  1. ...and then hope their one and only good attack hits...
  2. Hey, you're doing me a favor. I'm not about to complain about it.
  3. I only have one cannon now. I don't think 2 will be all that interesting to play against. Edit: also, Andy, I hope our beards don't get tangled.
  4. Them's sum goood lookin critters
  5. Oh snap! I forgot you were playing Dwarves of late. Play whatever you like. If it's hot stunty action, so be it!
  6. Right, that's my point. There are answers, they just aren't in the movie. It undermines the movie as a stand-alone piece. I enjoyed it, but I'm glad that I have a younger sister to fill in some fairly large logistical gaps.
  7. Having a 7" threat range to hit on 5+ isn't very good. Add to that a 20% increase per model and one use only, I'll never take them.
  8. Don, the patron saint of gamers! Thank you very much, sir!
  9. Hey, any fellow Warhamsters able to help me out with some bases? I'm looking for 10 20mm bases (the smallest ones) with diagonal slots. The diagonals are key. I've got plenty of lateral slots but these damn miners won't rank up because they're too busy playing grab ass with their picks. Little help?
  10. I liked catching fire, but there were a lot of questions I had that only people who read the books could answer. For instance, the movie made it seem like every 25th hunger games, they pit champions of previous games against each other. Since there are 12 districts, that would mean all champions but 1 are killed every 25 years. But apparently they just do something special every 25 years, but it's different every time. You just have to read the book to know. I am still curious as to how they managed to get exactly 2 champions from every district without rigging the games. The odds are insurmountable. Also, why were there only 2 champions that looked older than their early to mid 20s. How young were these people when they won? At least a few had to win when they were toddlers at the oldest which is pretty impressive. Then again, maybe I shouldn't over-analyze a book written for young adults.
  11. Sweet. Double post. Thanks phone!
  12. I've got a newer (hopefully friendlier) dwarf list. Who wants a slice?
  13. It's 2+/4++ which is as tough as he gets, but stegs already draw a lot of fire. Putting a BSB on one makes the choice obvious. 4++ is great and all, but hiding in units is better.
  14. Looks like fun. I think you will lose your BSB very frequently though. At least convert the model to have a bullseye painted on the stegadon's crest!
  15. Yeah I haven't been impressed with my organ gun lately but that's not so much because of its natural inability to hit, just constantly misfiring (after RoForging) makes it hard to hit--especially with so few shots. But I agree, I've realized I have too much BS based shooting which skirmishers and the like will laugh at. As far as pushing forward, I've had a lot of success with it. I have a block of 25 longbeards and a block of 25 hammerers that both Stroll up to tempt turn 1 charges. I usually put the Longbeards a bit further up because they can absorb a charge well and (more importantly) they have 2x Runes of Slowness. In all 3 games I've played, my Longbeards have gotten to charge the unit that failed a charge against them. And if they do make the charge, the hammerers are usually set up for a flank charge. And, yes, str 7 with hatred and AP is ridiculous on the charge. 2+ save cav getting no save at all is pretty unheard of. Obviously, that tactic depends on the opponent. If I'm facing someone who is going to be going toward me full speed anyway, I won't bother bother. If I'm facing lots of stomps and impact hits, my shooting is gonna need to take a toll before I enter the neutral zone. But I do like to get stuck in fairly early because Dwarves excel at wars of attrition, and the closer my blocks are to full strength, the more I can leverage that quality.
  16. I'll be there and have extra Skull Pass gobbos, Dark Eldar vehicles NIB, and probably some other stuff. Oh yeah! 4 Terradons!
  17. I'm....gonna go with "too soon" on this one.
  18. Do Demon Slayers count? This looks like fun: 205: Demonslayer w/ Runic Axe: Master Rune of Flight (yes, slayers can take this now), Rune of Might, Rune of Fire He's pretty cheap and he throws a str 8 axe at monsters that hits on a 2+, does D3 wounds, ignores regen, and they must re-roll successful ward saves. Fun little tomahawk. Put him in a slayer block with Strollaz' and go zap something turn 1.
  19. So I think in my next battle I will run a new list: HEROES: 555/625 141: Thane (General) w/ Great Weapon; runic armor: Rune of Iron, Rune of Stone; talisman: 3x Rune of Warding 188: Thane w/ Shield, BSB; Master Rune of Grungni, Strollaz' Rune 128: Runesmith w/ Shield, runic armor: Rune of Stone; talisman: Rune of Spellbreaking; Fiery Ring of Thori 98: Runesmith w/ Shield, runic armor: Rune of Stone; talisman: Rune of Spellbreaking, Rune of the Furnace CORE: 635/625 245: 15 Quarrelers w/ Great weapons, shields, musician, veteran 390: 25 Longbeards w/ Shields, full command; 2x Rune of Slowness SPECIAL: 955/1250 455: 25 Hammerers w/ Shields, full command; Strollaz' Rune 150: Cannon w/ Rune of Forging, Rune of Burning 100: Gyrocopter w/ Vanguard 80: Gyrocopter 170: 15 Miners w/ Musician, Prospector RARE: 355/6255 165: Flame Cannon w/ Rune of Forging 190: 12 Irondrakes w/ Musician TOTAL: 2500 So the general idea is the same as what I've been running, but I subtracted the thunderers, a cannon, and the organ gun to get a larger block of quarrelers, some miners, 2 more irondrakes, and a flame cannon. I just picked up some miner models from a buddy and I wanted to give them a shot. I've also been noticing that 2 cannons have been racking up quite a toll in the past few games, and it doesn't seem fun to have all your big monsters getting shot off the table as soon as they peek their heads around the corner. So this list probably isn't quite as destructive in the shooting phase, but having more dwarf movement shenanigans sounds like fun!
  20. Spears haven't required 2 hands since...at least 6th edition. You're losing it, Jim! I've just begun painting Fantasy stuff for the first time in years myself. Visit Bham again so my dwarves can settle a few grudges!
  21. i.e. they war less than the other Great Powers, but still plenty often
