What I'd like to see are runes that buff whole units, rather than just a character, even if just one-use-only ones. Like Rune of the Avalanche where Dwarves get swiftstrider for the turn or something. Maybe something that gives them +1 Toughness for a turn. Stuff like that. I don't want their stats to be OTT, but one use only runes could help fudge the numbers in their combats of attrition.

Also the PEN chip can grant stubborn, which is something else you never see Tau without. And even if they do get pinned, Tau can handle that better than any other army with markerlights bumping snap fires. Not a good situation certainly, but easier to deal with than any other pinned shooting army. Ah, so much armchair generalship. Makes my heart sing.

I always run missile crisis suits and a missile commander, all with target locks and 2 gun drones. So if a venomthrope needs to go, it'll be one of the up to 4 different targets that squad ignores the cover of. They're a fine unit but will rank a minor annoyance at best to tau.

Dwarves were never meant to fly anyway. Feet firmly on the ground, or preferably, under it.

Not in the same situation but I certainly don't have the expendable cash that I used to. My full and mostly painted dwarf army won't change much, but I'm definitely excited to have a box or two of those stout little bastards giving my front ranks some "wow". Honestly, I think they'll mix in pretty well. They look proportionally the same (still have gorrilla hands), the only real change looks like they've got 200% more detail than the previous versions. So I think they'll fit fine and just stand out as the elite unit of the army.

Barrel roll is actually more useful on low level pilots for this very reason. You move first so you can barrel roll in the way of a ship's most likely route. Black squadron with push the limit could be a nice, cheap way to pull that off. Of course, nobody does it better than the millennium falcon, due to its huge base.
