  3. thanks for this review. yesterday was just looking at the "prerelease deal" at northstar on their rules and figures and wondered if it was any good as I really like the cultist figures.
  4. Guess I didn't ask the question clear enough. I know how to paint the models like the box art but what I want to know from someone who has played a while is there anything in the background lore of Ba'kash that "requires" the copper metal color; or was it maybe just the painters whim to do that color scheme. I've reviewed the rulebook and alliance book and didn't see anything about paint schemes other than some of the smaller ships would decorate themselves and one can tell the state of affairs by reading the painting on the ships. Put another way, if I wanted to paint it in grey tones with the engines and such hot colors instead of dark copper would it be outside of cannon and people who play would frown upon it as a newbie mistake.
  5. I'm getting ready to start painting my Ba'kash and wondered about the color of the ships. I've seen some alternate paint jobs with some searching around but had a question. They look to be a dark copper color with highlights. Is this just because or is there something in the background that the metal/material they use is this color? Guess I'm getting hung up wanting the look of the x-wing, battlestar galactica, stargate, trek ships where mostly the ship hulls are various grey metal shades on the panels. I was thinking maybe do grey base and then nmm copper for what looks to be extra hull plating.
  6. I'm thinking chess masters do it for exhibition games.... possibly assign tables next to each other... and it could be pulled off.
  7. ---- not clear from the NHMGS mailing list post ---- Reminder that we are holding the first Rose City Saga Tournament October 3, 2015 in Portland, OR at Guardian Games. 345 SE Taylor St, Portland, OR 97214 12:00 noon - Supper time! All Dark Age and Crescent & Cross factions (no zombies please). Bring 7 points, play with 6 points. Rules as per C&C. Scenarios as per Dark Ages (Saga Core) book. 3 games per player - winners decided by score (objectives and kills!). Entry fee is a cash donation to The Telling Project http://thetellingproject.org/ ... a Veteran's spoken word non-profit that I have performed in myself. Sorry, 21 and over only as we've the up stairs mezzanine at Guardian and that's in the drinky area. ...and because of that no outside beverages or containers. Bottled water will be made available (free) and you can buy beer, cider, and sodas there. Trophy for 1st place, prizes for 1st-3rd place.
  8. TO Ruling: If a player shows up to throw some dice for this tournament and the army isn't painted, meaning if you came with unpainted but properly based/assembled miniatures I'd still let you play in the tournament. It would just hurt the painting score but since this score is independant of the other scores you'd be ok. Our goal is to eventually get it where all people have painted armies but realize we'd rather get players out to play. For "big" convention tournaments, like Enfilade 2016, and another potential one that is in the works, there is a painting requirement but NOT for the tournament on Nov. 14th, 2015.
  9. I've used Army Painter "color primer ultramarine blue" and "color primer crystal blue" with success.
  10. I got the long awaited soccer schedule update I've been waiting for before being able to commit. I'm good for any Saturday in Nov. I'll send email to Zeke and barca to discuss.
  11. fyi. Stopped at Tammies Hobbies store in Beaverton today and they are now stocking every one of the Vallejo Model Color line paints. Good to see since one used to be able to get these paints at Bridgetowne Hobbies and Games before they closed.
  12. thanks for pointing this one out. backed.
  13. Looking for lists still from: @Lord Hanaur (has Dylan said he is playing? haven't heard from him yet) @lazarus Email lists to me before Friday afternoon instead of waiting until Saturday morning....so you can get in on the special drawing for having your list to me ahead of time.
  14. This is what the two beach boards look like.
  15. Hub and Spoke.... Read this blog post if you haven't But the entire blog has some good starting out, running, and expanding points. http://blackdiamondgames.blogspot.com/
  16. A new flames of war faq is uploaded to the flames of war website. It can be found here.
  17. Been asked by a few people about using mid-war monsters. Answer is from the BF site, yes one can but only in very specific list cases. See first post for link to BF site and text.
  18. update: The award plaques are ordered and some Battlefront prize support is in route.
  19. I have some 47/32s that you can borrow (or buy them from me if you desire, either way). Dvang used them for the previous tournament but I have then in hand. How many stands do you need?
  20. I added the preliminary event list pdf as an attachment to the first post for reference. It lists the current games being played over the three day convention in case you want to make a weekend of it.
  21. I updated the first post with the era, point level, and awards. It is going to be Mid-War, 1710 points. The tournament will be over before the 7pm start of the third session on Saturday so if you still want to play in other games in the evening you can. For those that sign up early and confirm with me their sign up before the day of tournament. I'll put your name in a special door price drawing for an official Battlefront Tournament Objective.
