  1. I guess I'll have to think about it. Do a fair bit of Apoc- I know, anything goes- but the rise of formations appeals to my inner need to organize. My DAs have an extra chaplain on foot (only problem with that Seraphicus model, the backpack's molded to the cape), and a command squad that either attaches to that chaplain for a formation or attaches to Azrael and four captains for a different formation.
  2. Because I have an awesomely painted Seraphicus, a DA company champ from two editions back, and I thought hey, if they can dakka banner, why not for Apocalypse?
  3. Hey guys- Anyone know a site somewhere keeping a list of all the valid detachments/formations and where they can be found? Getting a little tired of trying to keep up on my own. Would rather have a reference document.
  4. Any opinions on using a Castra Ferrum Dreadnought in the Helbrute Dataslate formations? Pretty sure my regular guys will be cool, especially as two of them have Chaos armies as well, but wanted a general consensus.
  5. Any of the Rhino chassis the old-style or are they all new-style?
  6. Was playing with Battlescribe. A fire raptor with armored ceramite, Reaper turrets, malefic ammo, and a pair of hell blades with hellstorm autocannons clocks in at one marine over a Storm Wing Formation with lascannon Talons. Think it might compare for a house rules formation? Also, anyone know if they have given up on new formations?
  7. Basic rule of thumb is that the old pewters were smaller- anything that's an update of those will be (For instance, the IW pads, which I use). New designs- of which the NL are one- are larger. (I also use these)
  8. They're a bit smaller. Depending on pose, it doesn't show, but I find it works best if you also apply the "marked" pads on the other side- for instance, the same-sized Tactical pad opposite the Fist, etc. I agree, it looks really nice when done- it's the different sizes that can be a problem.
  9. Actually, I was thinking of trying the termies without disembarking- tzeentch on case it crashes. Dunno. The option intrigues.
  10. Now, normally, I don't strongly disagree with Abuse Puppy, but I was reading his review of IA13 and the dismissal of the Kharybdis out of hand, and I wanted to broach that topic. See, I'm looking at it and seeing a delivery system that puts my guys down turn 1 where I want them, thanks to the double whammy of inertial guidance and drop pod assault, and I'm thinking that while a LR+40 isn't cheap, it's not bad for the flexibility. The model is big enough that inertial guidance should kick in quite a bit, which is a plus. I'm also wondering about its utility as an alpha-strike platform. 19 CSM with 2 meltaguns, Aspiring Champion with combi-melta, and Dark Apostle with combi-melta- it's a nice amount of melting face that's fearless, drops where you want turn 1 to seize objectives, and can't be ignored. Or even just 10 CSM terminators with the Mark of Tzeentch and a mix of mauls and axes. Anyone else been thinking about this model, or have experience using it in Horus Heresy games? EDIT: I'm open to being talked in to this going on the "Apocalypse only" shelf, I'm just thinking giving Chaos that alpha strike capability is not something to overlook.
  11. Hey all- Out in Hillsboro. I need 1 CSM Terminator shoulder pad and 1 CSM terminator combi-melta. Since the reputable bitz sellers either want stupid shipping or are low on these parts, I'm willing to split a CSM Terminator Lord box with someone and only take those two bits. Takers? Willing to pay half the cost.
  12. So, my regular Marines are super deep in to Apocalypse territory. I've collected the Masters of the Chapter, and have command squads lined up for most of them. The question mark for me is the Master of Relics (the Finecast guy with the combi-plasma). I recently ordered a set of the boarding shield from FW, and those are going on my plasma gun command squad. Six came in the set. 4 go on plasma gunners, 1 will go on an old BA pewter Apothecary I have because the narthecium is on the "easy" arm, but that leaves me with some options for this Captain. Obvious cut is that straight left arm. My original intent was the new plastic Sternguard sword, to complete that "at rest" look. He'd also look pretty sweet with the DA Vet power maul. Third option is to give him the last boarding shield, either as-intended across the body or down and turned a bit behind his body. If I did that, I'd probably need to scrounge a Templar sheathed power sword to glue to his hip. This unit is one I might run for fun sometimes in regular games- toss in drop pod, harass units- so the Captain is more for tanking challenges when the unit is assaulted. Main intent is as a modelling project for Apocalypse. Opinions? Part of me thinks the shield would look sweet but on this unit, be overkill. Part of me wants to go with the original idea because it was original, dammit, and it should also look nice- but swords are just a bit lacklustre these days.
  13. Can he take squad upgrades? Specifically the storm shield
  14. That's actually debatably vague. "Cannot have more BLANK than Knights of other types" Ok, I have 2 Acherons and 2 Knights of other types , which is my point. By their statement, totally legit to have 2 Acherons, 1 Lancer, and 1 Castigator. EDIT: See, I think their assumption is that you are using the GW Knight. If you don't, then yeah, my example should work.
  15. You notice that you can field all- and I mean, all- of the FW Knights in their own Knight army. I think the language "May not include more of Knight <BLANK> than other kinds of Knight in your army" does not mean what they think it means. Two Acherons, one Lancer, and one Castigator is a legal force.
  16. Armory needs to be shaken heavily before every use, but I find if I use slight "spurts" of spraying it gets me the most even coat. So instead of "spfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft" it sounds like "spftspftspftspftspftspftspftspftspftDAMMITspfffft". The last bit is more me than the can.
  17. Agreed. A couple of times I've used it, the base coat ended up being too smooth, which required an extra coat of some of the other colors. A tiny amount of white, grey, or black primer down first seems to eliminate that. EDIT: In my experience, red has been the one most likely to have that problem. Have not tried GW's red. Say what you will about cost, they make really nice metallic paints and good primers. The only primers I use these days are Armory and GW (which I buy when desperate and Armory is out of stock).
  18. Which MAX line is it? EDIT: Also, there's Clackamas Town Center, Beaverton Transit Center, Washington Park, and Hillsboro to MAX in from West Side. Washington Park/Cedar Hills shouldn't be too bad, depending on how tightly packed your stuff is.
  19. Question. NE 11th by the hotel- blue line, yes?
  20. Wonderful! I'll only need 1 more. Anyone else have 1?
  21. I need 3 chaos terminator combi meltas. Will buy. Anyone going to OFCC interested in selling me some of these on Friday? I need three. I don't need 3 from one person. I'll be happy if I can get 2 from separate people. EDIT: The plastic ones.
  22. So, I don't have SW, Nids, TKs, or FA, but I have a serious need for an old-style Vindicator. Matches my other homebrew stuff (Made the silly decision to tough it out with my old rhinos). You interested in $$? If not, I'll buy something SW to swap. Unless VV really wants. He had dibs.
  23. What fortifications would be good for Nids? Firestorm redoubt? Vengeance weapon batteries? I can actually see someone kitbashing giant Pyrovore-esque models for the latter, a la Starship Trooper indigestion bugs.
