  1. Because without points the way some have been scaling the game has been with wound count and the new models are way better when you compare models by wounds. I still don't see how you can manage a game without some form of comp. No points lead to abuse and GW's solution is to shame players who abuse that power. That seems wrong and yet I see no other way to balance the game currently unless you follow the battle scenarios they have in their book with preselected armies you have no choice with. This still really bugs me because I really want to like a Skirmish based fantasy game.
  2. The guy was and is an Idiot. I've watched a few battle reports where he was the opponent. (Lord Tremendous or something.) both of those guys are not great players that relied more on WAAC lists than any skill to win and they do paint their own stuff. Just not the kind of people you would want to play against, very highly competitive individuals, like the not fun competitive kind of people.
  3. Ok, it's official those new models have WAY better rule and stats than the old models. And that is how they will get the old players to buy the new stuff, power leap.
  4. Is it me or is this the same story of the Emporer and his Space Marines?
  5. Yep, the Wood Elves are going to have a field day. Well until you come into contact.
  6. Well I still think it is very refreshing because he did hit all the points we have been talking about very very well. He was able to present why players from the Old Guard have felt like they have been slighted and that they are not wrong to feel mad. But he also goes on to say that the new game has potential but needs working to make it really click. His biggest point which is true is that Warhammer Fanstasy is Dead, the game no longer exists. Age of Sigmar is a whole new game that plays very differently. It also has a great appeal to 40K players because it does play closer to 40K than WHFB but this is also a reason why the Old Guard feels burned. In the end he is right, the game is not Fantasy and they have killed Fantasy. Even all the Older Models will vanish as soon as the new Armies come out. But this game is an entry point for new players and is easy to learn to play and the entry point is cheap. He does a very good job at pointing out both sides and shows both sides are right to feel the way they do. It wasn't a Fanboy yelling GW praise and it wasn't an older player yelling about all the issues and feeling burned by GW. It really was a middle of the road piece.
  7. Ok this has been a rough week for the community and I know I have been vocal on my points and disagreed with those who like AoS. That said we have been driving a wedge into our community as a whole and I saw a video that really really put everything into prospective for both sides of the community. I highly suggest watching the Whole video and thinking about what he says. I really believe he has nailed the while situation from a good nuteral point of view. Tell me what you think. (Also I know there are twenty other threads but maybe this one we can bury our hatchets before most of you goto OFCC.)
  8. Well since this whole thread is based on opinions and relies on point of views I'd say he is not off. The Activations, Shooting Phase, Charging and Combat phase all play closer to 40k than Fantasy. That and all the new models look like 40K minis and you got what he is saying. I agree with him aside from the fact 40K has more complexity and is more balanced for tournament and casual play. AoS pails to 40K and for Fantasy players that thought 40K was simplified.
  9. Look for the man with the Best Painted Fantasy models. Of course there were three last year that out right floored me but LoF's army was my favorite.
  10. The Benjamin Button of Wargames. He'll be playing Hero Clicks at 60 and AoS at 80. (Yes yes, I just said it.)
  11. Simple, is that a new paint color to go with AoS? As for the topic Brother G I am not sure what to add besides someone coming up with a tested balanced point system like the Swedish Comp guys work on. But that much work takes a lot of time and effort And I don't have either to give to AoS. I just wanted a Game I could pick up and enjoy without hassles and issues. But as the Miniwar Game guys said this game is not playable (as in enjoyable) as it stands now. I mean we could each try to take even lists but that is asking players not to just take the best out of their warscrolls and that just won't happen. So you could wait for the larger community to come up with a good point system but that will take a while and there will be more than one to begin with before they can narrow it down to one.
  12. Well I wanted to see what others are doing to try and fix the game but there are very few videos out there. And WarhammerT linked it first. See how easy it was to throw WT under the bus.
  13. The Miniwargamer's attempts are at least a good one WarhammerT.
  14. According to the post there was a New representative for GW out at the reveal of the new Statute at GW HQ and he is supposed to be going to a lot of events to answer questions about their new line. And I agree this is unheard of from GW.
  15. Missed it. But you think he's off? Indytims getting new models is good but here they are not just releasing new stuff they are totally redesigning everything. They purposely want to make everything Completely different. The Sigmarines look absolutely different then the Empire in look and function. That Thing the leader is riding is Not a Griffin but hey there you have it a large nonflying monster that is nothing like the old models. It's hard to explain if you are not getting that they are Not Empire models and there will not be an Empire army. The new Orcs will be nothing like the old ones so they will purposely make using your old models very very awkward and difficult. In other words they are Trying to force us to buy All New Models.
  16. I'd be interested. This would be better than the other wannabe game. Oi Oi Oi, Orcs Da Best!
  17. So Shane from Dakka Dakka posted this and it has been passed around. "“GW had a guy camped out at the Forge World open day whos entire job was to answer questions and talk to people about Age of Sigmar. His entire job is to go to shows and talk to people about the new game. For the first time I think ever they’re taking Age of Sigmar to Gencon, Comic Con, all the major wargames conventions in Europe etc. They’re throwing a considerable amount of money at putting this in front of new audiences who have never played fantasy before. He was also brutally honest and didn’t dodge any questions and answered everything he could. I’ll start with the negative stuff first. This is it. There categorically will not be a ‘9th’ edition of fantasy. Age of Sigmar is the only thing fantasy related GW will do for the considerable future. He acknowledges that the ‘funny’ rules are rather silly and don’t make for a great intro to the system for new people. His response was that the armies in the box set don’t have the silly rules. They’re there as kind of a celebration and final send off of the old warhammer armies, and he said you might notice the new armies don’t have the stupid noises or imaginary friends. This is deliberate, its designed that you’ll only generally play the old stuff with your mates since it’s a bit embarassing to play in a public place. The new races will look different to the old ones. Ooruks will not look the same as the orcs we currently have. As such, when they get round to releasing Ooruks, the old models will cease production. He did say that you can still use your old models as ooruks, but you won’t be able to buy normal orc boys again. There will never be points values. On to the slightly positive stuff then. They are going to fully support all modes of play, and will be releasing rules to balance armies against each other. There will be narrative campaigns where your forces are picked for you for specific missions, and there will be a system for tournament players to balance lists that isn’t based on model count. He did not know the specifics of this, but said it is definitely coming. The rules will always be free. He said that they are very very aware that fantasy had a massive buy in for someone to get started, as such the game was designed with the ability to play it with one box of models. There will be army books, but every rule in them will be available, for free, online. The books will just have extra background info and scenarios. GW really are trying harder than they ever have before to make this work. If you’re at one of the shows go and talk to them. They want to talk to you about this, but especially they want your feedback on it. As he said, this is totally uncharted territory for them and they are totally open to rules revisions as they go.” So yeah, this is it, this is what GW has to offer and All the old Armies got these Warscrolls as a Farewell, not a more to come. Everything moving forward will be different from all the old stuff and will not be like the old armies. The Old Models will be removed from sale as soon as the "New" armies are released. They will not be supported. Again, from what the GW rep is saying these Warscrolls are not proof the the Old Armies will be supported but are a, as the rep said, a fun way to send them off because no one will want to play them seriously at tournaments.
  18. Zombicide Kickstarter has officially ended. The end pledges was over 4 million. The SG's were insane.
  19. Well I will let AoS be what it is going to be but I do hope that this is not it. Oh well, time for my Vacation to start so things will be looking up. Maybe I can get a game of Triumph and Treachery in sometime.
  20. Now that is something I can get behind. Seriously there isn't anything that can fix AoS without a complete do over. I know people Want to like it but there isn't anything that anyone is going to like about it in 5-6 months. People will try but the game is going to fail.
  21. Hey, I'm in my 40's, I earned the right to be a Weird Old Dude. "Get off my Gaming table with those crazy new fandangle miniatures. I'll show you Respect you little spoiled brats and your fancy new eBooks and eDice."
  22. The Sigmarines would look cool as a Forgotten Chapter of Space Marines but not Fantasy models. But that is what GW wants.
  23. I know you were serious but the truth can be a funny thing too. GW will not be taken seriously after this.
  24. I can see Chaos Players going for the Models, not my thing but they are good. Otherwise I see No reason. Also it's a $125 for just the models which I don't see being worth the money because they're snap fits with no room to repose.
  25. As for AoS all I have to say is GW Jumped the Shark. Oldhammer is what is left. Old Wolders for the win.
