  1. Chaos Dwarves, sure he could sell his house to afford the models from Forge World. :P Empire doesn't seem to be his interest. The Bad Guy thing and all.
  2. All the Elf armies have a lot of female models, but the Dark Elves are not as family freindly if you get my drift. Not nudity but they dress like there's nothing to hide. And the Dark Elves do have a more Female dominate feel to it. And yes it includes the leather and whips. Movement is a big deal for every army and the elves are more fragile but are one of, if not the fastest, armies. The learning curve is not as freindly as the Empire or Chaos Warriors but when you become even a confident player there is so many possibilities in those armies is almost over whelming. And Elven Magic is fantastic, except for the Wood Elves who are still 3-4 editions behind. High Elf magic is stable so you don't worry about miscasts as much. Dark Elf magic is more painful for sure. Dark Magic is brutal even though the 6th spell may not be a black sun. But unlike High Elves Dark Elves do miscast and if their magic phase goes south it is a long recovery. Then again you can take which are one of the best units in the game and just forget about the miscasting, becuase they could care less. I will be there at 4 on Sunday. Also I am a father myself and love kids, so no worries on the family freindliness from me.
  3. Well at least my Elves aren't stuck up a##holes who believe they are the goodguys. Mine are stuck up a##holes who believe they are stuck up a##holes and revel in it. Bring on the debauchery. And where is my after dinner whore?
  4. Hey Guys so I have Board Games to sell. First on the list is the Rare 40th anniversary edition of Risk. All parts are there the inside bits are in good condition. The Box though is in used condition but no tears. Goes for about $100 used on eBay but I am asking for $75 obo. Second is Descent core set and Lair of the Wyrm expansion. Inside bits like new but freind of mine scuffed the box transporting it. :( $75 Firm. Grind, from PP. Fun game but never got a following. Most use the game for the Jacks that come in it. Still good game. $35 Blood Bowl core box, no models included. As stated this is the base box with the board and bits to play but no models. $40 Pathfinder Core book and Black Box. ( The Beginners box.) Book is in excellent condition and so is the box set with everything inside. $80 FoW, 'Turning the Tide', the Hard Cover Rule Book and other book. Make me an offer. Send me a pm for questions or pictures.
  5. Sorry to see them leaving you. Still a great lot there. To bad you're not interested in Orcs. :P Of course I could sell my orcs and get cash to spend on a new army. PMed.
  6. Opps, you missed my edit. I play DE now and can show you the models and book on Sunday if you want. Also MexicanNinja is the tactics guy, though not the word of god, for DE. Come down to WOW and we can talk.
  7. Actually Chaos Warriors do fit the bill and are some what SM like with great armor and attacks. And painting wise IMO they almost paint themselves. But for theme wise it may be hard to pick one god to follow but it makes it easier to paint when you do. Yet that said it is a melee based army, like the VC, and the Hell Cannon I believe is their only good choice for range. But of the Dark Elves look good come down Sunday and I can show you my models and book. Mind you I have been lazy in the painting deparment.
  8. Where are you located? Here in Portland we play every Sunday. I will admit I would love to see more leagues but am happy with the less competetive enviroment. The three armies you listed have about the same learning curve, just different angles. The Large Army boxes for DE and VC are good boxes but those are the Large boxes not batalions. Also all three of those armies have many different builds that are solid so hard to say what to start with till we narrow down what your play style is and what you want out of this army? Looks wise which one do you like? And as far as for painting the elves have faces but clean sleak uniforms that are easy to paint. The undead? Well can you do dead flesh, bone and dirt colored cloth? And if you need help with faces there are many on here that can give you tips and great color choices. And I mean professional painters too, not just hobbiests.
  9. As has been mentioned Dwarves don't have magic, they shut it down. We still do not know yet how the Dwarves will turnout but the book comes out SOON. They are a slow stout strong lot that are excellent with black powder. They appear to be on the mid to hard scale to learn becuase positioning and movement is big in this game and the short ones don't move anywhere fast. VCs are high magic with a mid level learning curve. As Drac said it is normally not a low model count army unless you go the Ghoul themed route. I would have a hard time giving suggestions as to which one to play becuase fluff wise I love both those armies and there are a lot of secondary models out there that look fantastic that I would love to play with. As for elves both are High Magic, low model count armies that are fast and have powerful units. But all elves suffer from allergies from a soft wind becuase they fall over dead when they get hit by it. But I do play DE and find them rewarding and elves are a strong choice. Anyway you go you should have fun. Welcome to Fantasy, we take things a little less serious here (we play more for fun and company that to win.) but we have loads of fun doing it.
  10. Should I bring a 2400 point list? And my dues were paid Tue.
  11. 4 will work for me every other week becuase of my Kid. But I can show up at 6 on the other weekend, when I am not hanging with him late like I have been lately.
  12. Oh My God! I want. http://www.serwer1345870.home.pl/arcady_terrains/de_tower/det1b.jpg Seriously considering it with tax money. But where to put it?
  13. I might be able to get a game in, but it depends on the day. Mon, Wed or Thur would work for me.
  14. Well looking forward to the whole game to be played. But my son, as bright as he is is still 7. So a few more games at least.
  15. So I picked the game up and have been playing with my son, who has been beating me a lot :), and it is now our favorite game to play together. Still haven't played with all the rules yet becuase I want my son to feel comfortable with each new rule I bring in before I bring in another. The only thing left to introduce though is the special tokens you can buy with the coins. And we have only been playing with 2 characters each. Also, yes, the tutorial games are worth playing. I think this game is going to be a household favorite for some time to come. Me and my son both give it a two thumbs up and an epic fist bump. (He likes the fist bumping and the word 'Epic'. )
  16. That Chaos Chris is right, Multi-Melta is too much Melta. Avoid Heavy Weapons unless their range is extremely long. (A sniper of sorts. Good field control but don't expect them to pull too much weight with all the terrain.) And the Acts of Faith are worth bringing 2 Sepharims. Also what about Daminions with meltas instead of the Heavy Weapons?
  17. Just a Note on flamers in HoR. Any model under a template will be considered burning unless they pass an initiative test. Then on the begining of their turn they take a S3 AP- hit and count as moving through rough terrain. That makes orks really sad with an I2. So yeah.
  18. Melta, bring the Melta. But Flamers for everything else.
  19. Flamers are very nice for ignoring all the cover that should be cluttering the board. Haven't played Sisters yet but Seraphims should be a solid choice for the Jump Infantry. And I hate to say it but with no vehicals Meltas are almost not worth taking. The AP is golden but lots of armies are bringing 4+ core and 3+ can be delt with too. 2+ though will always be a pain but there are very few of those in HoR.
  20. I think Wisetiger7 was blowing some steam off here becuase of a bad rumor, which he even admitted it seemed bad. I think sometimes it is good to vent as long as one doesn't get carried away. In the end there isn't a lot anyone was disagreeing on, it's just these rumors sometimes catch us at the wrong time and we need to say "WTF" and hear others to listen and say "Don't panic." And since posters on here know each other lots of times we can relate to each other as humans instead of trolling them. This is what I like about Ordo. My main take away from this thread though is that Drak should get a second army. :P
  21. I would love to see the stock reports. Remember stocks drop for many reasons, not just drop in sales. GW has been going through a big change and having anew CEO taking the company into new waters will make stock holders shakey. They would sell their shares till the waters settle down and the return comes in from the new changes. Also there is two very distinct differences between 'drop in sales' and 'sale failed to meet expectations.' Our company beats its sales from the previous year but they get shakey when it doesn't meet their projected growth. Then 6 months down the road things settle out and bam, we're back on track meeting the expected projections. But if you can get a hold of a link or copy of the last years sales compared to the previous year's I would love to see them.
  22. Honestly I think that is what ks happening right now. All the new changes can be from the new CEO and their whole business model and tunring it upside down. It looks like they realized they are not the only toy store in town selling to the kids and they are going to need to change to survive. Consolidating HQ's, phasing out Fine Cast (that was suppose to be short lived anyways) for the perfered plastic, closing stores that are not meeting their margines. I mean hey when there is a store that sells only one game or you can go to the other store that sells a bunch of games and has tables they allow you to play on the choice is clear. These changes are good amd have been needed for a long time, but these changes cost money to implement, and that is what is happening. Worst case scenario I see here is one or two of the mentioned armies end up like Chaos Dwarves, not dumped but moved over to FW to upkeep. So of you own the army currently you can still use it.
  23. Well Wisetiger7 I hear you. We all do. 'IF' GW drops support for those armies 'WE' will all be pissed. Trust me. It's just as of now the rumor looks to be full of so much.... Bull Dooky I am not going to let it raise my blood pressure yet. If it does happen I will bring the torches if you bring the pitchforks.
