  1. Steamtank usage, in the words of Fired Up....BE AGRESSIVE BE-EEE AGRESSIVE!
  2. Maybe my typing is being taken out of context. I don't think they don't work, and I don't think they are horrible. I have stated my dislikes and likes about the bastilidon. In every game I've played against lizardmen, with the current army book, the Slaan has been the least influential model on the table. Take it how you would. It's my opinions and nothing all.
  3. Great game, it was fun. Those miners held longer than I thought. I needed to reform to face your beards. They made a clutch LD tests afer being combo charged and losing steadfast. Great job on their part to keep my flank exposed to your beards. Had I been able to reform, I pretty certain the outcome would have been slightly different. Great win boss! He forgot to mention how he lost his Gyros though: Gyro 1 lost combat to 2 harpies and got chased down. Gyro 2 lost combat to a single dark rider and got chased down.
  4. It's not just the steadfast rule. If you happen to have a horde of halb's in a unit size of 40 and then flank them with a detachment of 20 halbs your opponent needs to kill both the parent unit and detachment to gain points for them. You have the ability to do some great things with them. If you like greatswords, you can screen them with archers for extra protection from shooting (hard cover). I just love the rule. It greatly enhacnes the empires performance. Murphy, I am really liking the direction your Empire army is headed. It's unique and will be a great sight on field of battle!
  5. One Question: 1) If you get a card you can't use, because you didn't write your list and aren't able to make sure you could play every card given to you, may you exchange it for one? You gave me no ward save on anything in my army, and because of that one of the card is useless. I was hoping that you would have at least given me the opportunity to use any card given to me.
  6. 1, or 2, is/are naked and the other re-rolls the misfire. I'm also running 2 Engineers in the army though, so the other one could re-roll as well.
  7. Cool, we could talk "backbone" if you like. Just remember, detachments are your best ally! That rule alone is top 3 "army specific" rule in WFB right now, IMO.
  8. Unfortunately, I don't respect the list that OnceBitten plays. He copied it from another player. He just happens to have a youtube channel to show it off. That's another story though. Yes Murphy, yes! I try and tell many players that lore of light is excellent for buffs. However, the first response is that banishment is the only reason to take it. So dumb, IMO. Sidenote, are you going to be at the club house tonight? I'd like to discuss empire things with you. As I have stated, I spent 5 years playing Empire and could discuss things with you. I played them through 3 army books and 3 editions of WFB.
  9. That's cool with the math; however, all that goes out the window once the dice start rolling. I have yet to see a unit of halberds not in a horde formation. Add some more attacks to the equation. Like I stated, many times above, it can hold it's ground agaisnt basic infantry but a monster needs to do more than just average damage on it's own. The save is barely much better than a stegadon and I've killed many of those things in the first round of combat with S4 or less (granted I get a ton of re-rolls for playing dark elves) so to me that thing is weak. I would like to add, I never said not to take it. I never said, it's a complete waste of points. I never said it isn't usefull. Just to clarify, once more, here's what I said: 1) It's made for a support role. As a support role, you support units with a charge and you dont' go in for 1-v-1 match-ups. 2) It's great at holding BASIC infantry in place. You start adding elite units to the equation and that thing drops pretty fast. 3) It doesn't produce enough damage per turn to make me respect it in combat. 4) It's not worth 150 points as a combat role, on it's own. Again, I think he is purely to support and hold a unit in place. He's not meant for damage output. However, here are the 3 things I love about this model: 1) Cheap terror causing unit on your flank. This is were most of your opponents low LD stuff is which is not supported by a BSB. 2) 2+ armour save. Again, put it on the flank and most of your opponents chaff will be weak against it 3) It's only 150 points.
  10. He's not even close to the "netlist" of empire with a single life caster. It takes a level 4, war altar, and 2 other level 1's for the light council to work. Lore of Life with your theme is perfect. It's only a council of light if you spam banishments with lots of wizards and war altar. I believe your army could benefit from the buffs. Have you ever witnessed a horder of Halb's go to town with speed of light? The majority of people who use lore of light only see the banishment spam and not the other great benefits it offers.
  11. Flame cannons are so damn sexy! It's my favorite war machine right now. My competitive Dwarf list has 2-3 of them (depending on army size).
  12. So, here are my thoughts: 1) A unit of handgunners should have the unit champ w/hochland long rifle. If you take master engineers give them hochland rifles for theme and for use, in the event you are expecting to always need the re-roll (shoot the war machines first and if you don't use his ability you can attempt to snipe). 2) A unit of Outriders with a champ and hochland long rifle would be a good fit (you get a ton of handgun shots followed by a snipe shot). 3) You better have 2 volley guns in that formation somewhere! 4) If hochland has a strong sigmarite following, try and include a mounted warrior priest and a unit of 25-30 flagallents. 5) I use hounds in my Witch Hunter Mordhiem warband. You can find some cool looking hounds on reapermini. 6) As for a magic lore that would fit your theme: Beasts is great for the "huntsmen", Light because you still hate mutants and heretics, Death because you can snipe your foes outside of combat. You have a great idea bubbling up. A good-quick resource is the Empire: Heraldy book. I purchased that a long time ago and I thought it was pretty cool.
  13. It may be able to hold, but damage output isn't anything to write about. That thing is a weak steamtank. S4...meh, it still needs to hit (besides thunderstomps), it's only a -1modifier to armour saves for the attacks, skinks make me laugh in close combat. Again, I will agree that it has the potential to hold a unit in place; however, that thing is weak weak weak for damage output. How many wounds does it have? I would put my money on a unit of 30 halbediers over the bastilidon in a 1-v-1 fight.
  14. I used 16 handgunners (champ w/long rifle) and 2 Master Engineers w/long rifles. They miss more than they hit; however, when you get those games when you kill a level 2 wizard on turn 1, you will say...."yup".
  15. Honestly, the War Altar would be guarded by a warrior priest, knights, and followed by flagallents. Demigyiphs would be personal guard for a Grand Master. Knightly Order of the Blazing Comet or Knighty Order of Sigmar's Hammers? FYI, I'm extremely partial to Sigmarite Warbands (or should I say followers of Ulric). It was the theme for my Empire long ago.
  16. Yeah, it's worthless. The Strength of the attacks are garbage. If a monster is in combat, especially, with infantry and isn't putting out a decent number of wounds per combat phase.....it's worthless in combat. Empire swordsmen could kill that thing in a few rounds of combat. No, I'm not talking about using it to support charge. That's a whole other thing. I'm just talking about the bastilladon in combat with stuff on it's own.
  17. The bastilodon is only good until it gets into combat. As a support role that thing is great. As a combat role that thing is a waste of points.
  18. I remember the time when I packed 3 hochland long rifles in my Empire army. Enemy wizard down!
  19. I don't have the bases or movement trays yet. I have 10 irondrakes assembled and 16 longbeards assembled. They aren't on bases though, I'm still waiting on bases for them.
  20. I'm pretty much done with my Dark Elves. I'm waiting on movement trays and bases for my Dwarf army.
  21. He was slaughtered by some witch elves on a cauldron. He exists no more.
  22. That is one beautiful model though, I wasn't able to look at the pic while at work. Great conversion Swan! Yeah, bring a chariot base.
  23. I doubt anyone would have believed it. I think we've all come to the understanding that GW has finally thrown their arms up and said..."meh"
