  1. Best part I like about this pic is the poster on the wall. :)
  2. And that wouldn't necessarily be a -bad- thing. Will 'The Thing' look like 'The Thing' you see floating in your toilet? Will the actors actually look/sound like they -want- to be in the movie? Will the cast be poorly chosen? Will the Director go on social media and rip the movie days before it comes out? With the right answers to these questions, the FF could actually have a decent movie... It's comic book stuff. I ain't looking for Oscar caliber story, plot, acting, etc, but I'd at least like average. -Tim
  3. I think it needs to stay dead for 5-10 years. Then total reboot and do it -right-.
  4. I'm with dkieft - I just think Doomsday, overall, is a boring villain. I'm not really a DC guy, but when I heard about Supes and Bats getting together, I thought... ok, this could be interesting. Then I heard WW was involved, and thought... ok, this could be even MORE interesting. Then I heard Aquaman would be in it and thought... nevermind. Ok, ok, just kidding. I was still curious. Then, I saw who they picked for Lex, and saw how he acts in the trailer and I just shake my head. THEN I see Doomsday in the trailer... and shake my head even more. I get it. They need a villain that can justify Supes/Bats/WW/Aqua teaming up. I am still going to see it. :) As for the Ultron bashing - I pretty much agree with the Rotten Tomatoes ratings on AoU, really. AoU didn't do as bad as some of the haters like us to think, and ranks a bit higher than several of other MCU offerings, and my own opinion falls in line with that, pretty much. Then again, it rates higher than numerous non-MCU stuff, which is saying a lot. 'Average' to a comic fan is still pretty darned good to the average consumer that doesn't read or bother collecting comics. But as usual, one man's 'art' is another man's 'garbage'. For certain, the first Avengers movie was an incredibly tough act to follow. Expectations were through the roof, many of those expectations being unreasonable, in my opinion. I saw it several times and enjoyed it each time. I don't think it was as good as the first one, and liked some of the other MCU entries better. More than anything, I am just thrilled to be alive and able to see this explosion of comic book material on the silver screen, really, and most of it is of a quality worthy of our time. -Tim
  5. VERY nice model! I say it again - there's stuff in -every- faction that I absolutely love. If I had endless $, I'd own every faction! I love how he's about to drop a mine. That is so cool.
  6. Maybe he meant his next game night would -be- the 20th! I mean, maybe he's expecting to win the tournament on the 12th - and just needs a couple weeks to recover from his celebration! :)
  7. George can also make sure your 3rd opponent is someone who plays a bit 'quicker'. Meaning: not me. ;) Though we DID do pretty good in our game last time. :) -Tim
  8. Is this for a tournament or something? If it's just with friends, I think you'd be fine if you ran it by them first. If this is for a tournament with official requirements and stuff, you could run it by the TO.
  9. One week from today! Looks like we have TWO spots left available so far! :) Hope to see you there!
  10. This latest trailer for BvS just underwhelms. I've never been a 'fan' of the BvS theme, because everyone knows - like Superman says in the trailer - if he WANTED Bats dead, he'd be dead. Kryptonite or no Kryptonite. A friend argued, 'but that's the dilemma! Superman doesn't want to kill'. Blah blah blah. Zzzzzzz. Will I go see BvS? Probably, for the nostalgia I have for Bats. Don't care about Superman, Aquaman, or Wonder Woman (and I agree, the actress for WW is just... meh). Cavil plays a fair Clark/Superman (I didn't think MoS was all that great, but it was certainly better than Brandon Routh's version). But I'll go see it for Bats - and because I genuinely do like Ben as an actor. But in regards to this topic - the trailer left me feeling 'meh'. I watched the Capt America Civil War trailer and was pumped enough to watch it 3-4 more times right away, just like when I saw each Star Wars trailer. I saw the BvS trailer and thought.... meh. But I -do- think that it will do great in tix sales. This movie year could be enormous with all the stuff coming out. -Tim
  11. I usually watch for them and make it a point to jump on it within the first hour. You're right - their big sales usually sell out fast because they're such great deals. For the daily deals, I check their site right after 10pm PST, and I've never had a problem getting whatever I wanted. By morning, often the good stuff is gone.
  12. If George is a slave driver like last time, we very well could be done by then! :) Start prompt. 90 min rounds. 15-30 minute between would have us ending around 4pm, with plenty of time for you to get back home. That's without a lunch break, though. I have an event to be at at around 6:30 that night, but I don't have near as far to drive as you do Nate! Would love to see you there, but definitely understand it's the holidays!
  13. WOW. Both very, very awesome games. I'd jump on these if I didn't already have them!
  14. BEAUTIFUL fig! Nice work! Thanks for sharing! :)
  15. I want a couple of those!!!! Awesome work sir!
  16. (360) 787-5719 According to their Facebook page. I think it's the new owner's cell, so if he doesn't answer (he's helping folks in the store at the time), leave a msg and I assume he'll call back pretty quick. Also, their email addy is listed as: thenerds@fateandfurygames.com
  17. For me, Infinity had a pretty steep learning-curve, mainly because I had other systems burned into my brain. With the way orders are spent - and the way your opponent can respond to them, this is not your typical "I-GO-U-GO" system. Yes, it might be your opponent's turn, but you can still do certain actions during your opponent's turn. With that in mind, the -basic- rules are fairly straight forward, but there's a large chunk of 'special rules' that come into play, not just with special rules for various models, but with various rules that apply to many. I've played games with vets who have played the game regularly for several years, and they -still- need to look up the occasional rule. This game is -very- deep. I think it would be hard to find someone who would say Infinity is 'easier' to pick-up than Warmachine or KoW, though. I picked-up KOW literally in 30 minutes. I picked-up Warmachine over a few games. Infinity has the depth that will have me 'picking up' stuff for -months-, probably -dozens- of games. Heck, just 'Hacking' in the game is almost an entire game itself, and I haven't even touched it yet. :) With that in mind, I highly recommend finding someone to give you a 'starter' game or two - 120-150 points, to show you the ropes. The starter rules in the Operation:Icestorm box are very good as well, and it even includes two starter forces: but if you're not interested in Nomads or PanOceania, then it might not be that attractive. I know some will argue that tossing a noobie into a 300 pt match to 'learn under fire' is a great way to learn the game, but that hasn't been my experience for sure. I would bet money most of the guys here would be more than happy to give you a demo game if you can meet them on their normal game nights. I'd be happy to if you are ever on the north side of the river. $125-$150 would get you a really good starting force for any faction, pretty much, then you can go from there. I agree with those folks who say the 'rule of cool' is king. So many figures do so many different things, finding the ones that you 'connect' with is very important, and for me at least that includes models that LOOK awesome. I've always said that if a player loves the look of his/her army, they'll be far more likely to paint it, and play it. That being said, as others have mentioned, even the lowliest grunt can inflict pain and suffering on the best models in the game, and as such, it's hard to find a completely 'useless' model. The player-base in the area has certainly grown quite a bit, even just in the past six months. There are many of us in the area who didn't play this game at all before June/July, buying our first figures then. If you're in the Portland area you have several options, including Red Castle and WOW. On the Vancouver side of the river, we have a group at F&F on the east side, though I've been told some people also play at Dice Age. Just my 2 bars of tesium. :) -Tim
  18. Congrats to the Hawkeyes! Go Big-10!!! :) -Tim Hoosier native
  19. Happy and safe holidays, all. :) -Tim
  20. I like DP's suggestion - try one model of each specialist type, get a few games in, then decide if you want more of one or another. I haven't seen anyone in my group use more than one hacker at a time, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work. :) My only army so far doesn't really work well with hackers, so I couldn't say for sure. ;) The list looks very similar to my 'starter' CA list. Morats, Drones, Raktorak, Kornak, plus the Oznat and 4 hungries... A great learner list, in my opinion. :) If you haven't actually played Infinity yet, I still recommend finding someone to play a couple smaller 'intro' games, around 120-150 points first. But if you prefer to jump in to the deep end right off the bat, ain't nothin' wrong with that sir! :) -Tim
  21. Still not wanting to split it up? ;) Figure it couldn't hurt to ask. ;) -Tim
  22. Penny Dreadful - Season 1 What a... strange series. I watched season 1 over the past week, and I have to say there were parts I really liked and parts I didn't. The show -looks- authentic. You really do get the feeling that you're looking through a window back in time to the late 1800's. The technology, the clothing, the architecture, they do a great job producing the series environment so that you -feel- like you are in the time period. The acting, for the most part, is top-notch. Eva Green is really good (in addition to being a hottie). Timothy Dalton is an awesome veteran actor to have on the show. The list goes on. You also get to meet a nice mish-mosh of 'legends', from Frankenstein to Vampires to a Werewolf, Dorian Gray to Van Helsing... it provides an interesting look into another writer's 'version' of these characters. The one thing that nags at me is that sometimes I feel the director is trying 'too hard' to get some point across or to shock the viewer. I don't normally complain about gratuitous sex or violence, but in this case there are moments where it does nothing other than take up 'time'. There are also plenty of 'contrived' moments that don't make sense compared to what you've seen earlier, but thankfully those aren't too common. I can't delve into TOO much detail, because I don't want to spoil several nuggets of surprise. Overall, it's interesting enough that I'll check out the 2nd season. 6.5/10
  23. That is awesome to hear, GG! I just started collecting Combine myself a few weeks ago. Got a lot assembled, some primed, etc, but haven't played them at all yet. Looking forward to it very much! :)
