Okay, I now have IK, Custodes, and SM books. Picked up a Primaris Gladiator, as well.  Motivation to keep working on the garage so gaming can commence.

Nice! Ordo is open for play as well. Games are fun.

Yeah, the razorflail build is likely to get FAQ'd out of relevance, IMO. It'll still be good against primaris and the like, but not bonkers.

The Triptych/Precision Blows is about flexibility and that's why I like it. There's nothing it doesn't threaten. Because as cool as the whip is, it's also a poison weapon. Only wounds dreads on 6s, so they aren't particularly worried. More dice, sure, but less likely to do much damage. Or if she's fighting a character and they have a 4++, it might just bounce off. Having a decent chance of just slamming 4 mortal wounds home at the top makes characters with invuls/vehicles really not interested in fighting her. It's also quite nice against plague marine disgustingly resilient. They take the damage down to 1, but if she rolls 6s at the top, it's still 2 mortal wounds.

I've also seen builds with Precision Blows on a Sharndet & Impaler w/ Dark Lotus Toxin and Adrenalight. 8 attacks, 6 to hit causes 3 mortal wounds, str 5, AP-2, damage 3. Kind of a hybrid build, but the mortal wound spike is nice.

9-10 attacks is interesting with Trip Whip but its AP just screams to me that it doesnt need the MW output. I have tested rolling against dreads and 10 attacks with Blood Danger (getting an average of 14 attacks) kills a normal dread in one go and drops a redemptor to 2-3 nearly every time. (2 CP of course for Metal Poison strat)

Shardnet and Hydra Gauntlets are interesting. Hydra specifically as 8 attacks... hmmm its only one 6 on average so 3 MW vs Flails at 2 on average so 4 MW... but the end result is a bit better... hmmmm

Oops, scratch the above! Well, not entirely. Just any reference to attacking twice with a succubus. She does not have the wych keyword and so she cannot attack twice with the stratagem. It's for wyches/bloodbrides only.

So the razorflail build maxes out at 42 attacks, assuming the first 14 don't wound. A mere 56 potential damage per turn.

Razorflails and Competitive Edge also has some odd interactions that make it not worth the headache.

For instance the FAQ on multiple hit rolls for 1 attack messes up many things.... its... no.

I dont like Triptych with Precision Blows as you already have a high AP weapon. I like Blood Dancer more than Quicksilver. It is more swingy but it can just demolish most things. Dreadnoughts beware.

Early in 8th, I bought a ton of Aeldari intendeing to build an Iyanden list.  Never went anywhere and now, in 9th, my son has decided he wants to build his own Death Guard army so I have been finally building my army.  Reading up online and, oh lawdy, are Iyanden really THAT bad?

So, what do I do?  My current "fix" is to just do a custom Craftworld to keep from totally sucking.  What other options?

I would just play what you find interesting now and build on that. Craftworld are in a sore spot as they have issues playing to what 40k is now mission wise and that is a lot of back and forth trading of units.

Dont let that get you down. Based on what happened to the Drukhari for their release, there is a LOT of hope that Aeldari will get a huge boost and be back to annoying everyone with their shenanigan's!

The Succubi, in particular, are what I'm concerned about. I played some garagehammer with a friend today and had my Succubus kill 17 necron warriors in one combat phase. Sure it costs 2 CP to fight twice, but for a 60 point model (actually 75, but she didn't need her Master ability to do what she did), that is just an insane amount of damage.

Fair. They are strong but people just need to learn how to counter her or to screen her out better. She is not durable for what she brings but is a straight blender.

I ran a Raiding Force triple patrol at a small (8 person, 3 round) tournament yesterday for my first 3 battles with the new book. My goodness it's a monster.

Game 1, Tabled Imperial Fists in 3 turns.

Game 2 we somehow finished only 2 rounds so I technically lost to a 6 Valkyrie Scion list. If we had had 1 more turn, I would've killed everything but 1 Valkyrie (who was off the table at the time).

Game 3 I tabled Alpha Legion/1K Sons in 2 turns, including zoning out the entire table, so his 10 terminators in deep strike had nowhere to drop and just died.

I fear the nerfbat may be coming...

I dont think a Nerfbat is needed. People are just not used to them. I am envious that you got to play in a tournament...

I warned my wife that there was a good chance I'd be picking this army up again. Going to start with the Patrol Box. Would love to get my hands on the Blood of Phoenix models too. We'll see where it goes.

Oh I plan on getting a Blood of Phoenix box for the DE side as well. It would bring me up to 15 Incubi and give me Drazhar

  8. Spikey Elves have taken over!

Current list of things I have

I have 2 Combat Patrol Boxes, each comes with a Raider, Ravager, Archon, 5 Incubi, 10 Kabalite warriors. So now I live in Raider Hell...

I have the 8th ed Start Collecting box which you see in the post above is 3 Reavers, 10 Wyches, a Venom (why it is in the box, I have no idea) and a Succubus

A Talos and a Piety and Pain set which is Lelith, 5 Scourge, 10 Wyches and a Venom.

Oh man, I've bought and sold the DE twice now. I really don't want to go for a third time. Quick, say something bad about the codex!
