nathonicus
Joey, Christian and I played our makeup game. I believe I won, though that seems wrong. Score should have been 5/3. Christian, that's correct, isn't it?
Wiccus
Our next scenario is Supremacy. This one has some similarities to frontline but keep in mind that you score points at the end of each round in this scenario rather than at the end of the game. I personally wouldn't leave home without at least 3 specialists since you will need them to interact with the objectives. Hackers are allowed this week and I would definitely take one or more. If you do then I would suggest using the link to the hacking helper in the original post. That site is very useful for determining what programs each specific device can use and what they can be used against. We are up to 300pts now so our only limitation is that we are still using limited insertion lists. Next week we will be removing that restriction though.
Khail
Jake asked yesterday about the laser I use for LOS in Infinity - here's the link to the one I use. It's definitely not the cheapest, but it is ridiculously visible and bright. http://www.laserpoints.com/100mw-532nm-line-beam-green-laser-pen-black.html
Khail
OK guys, time to have a discussion about next week's mission: Transmission Matrix. Prepare to do some mental gymnastics. If you're not already familiar with the hacking rules, you should probably read those first. Transmission Matrix takes those rules and turns the volume up to 11. I'm stealing this breakdown from the tremendous Mark Manlapas, who used to run a blog called TheComlog, where they were posted. Sadly it is now offline, but he was awesome enough to send me a copy of the entry. It's by far the best way I've found to illustrate this mission to newer players (and people who have been playing for 2 years, who still haven't puzzled their way through it). Link to the mission: https://sites.google.com/view/infinityconnected/its-season-9/transmission-matrix Transmission Areas aka ‘Frenemy Repeaters’ Hacking through the Antennas is tough to visualize. The repeater rules can be challenging to absorb on their own, and this mission alters them dramatically, by creating a new type of repeater: the Transmission Antenna. The Black Dots are enemy hackers. The White Dots are friendly hackers. The White circles show the radius of the Transmission Antennas Assuming there are no repeaters on the table other than the Transmission Antennas: Hacker 1’s hacking area includes both hacker 3 and hacker 4, by claiming Antenna B as an ‘enemy repeater within his ZOC’. No firewall MODs are applied if he does so. Hacker 2’s hacking area includes hacker 4 by claiming Antenna A as a ‘friendly repeater’. Hacker 3’s hacking area includes hacker 1 by claiming Antenna B as a ‘friendly repeater’. Hacker 4’s hacking area includes hacker 1 and hacker 2 by claiming Antenna B as an ‘enemy repeater’ The Frenemy Zone Hacker 4 and hacker 1 are doubly in each other’s hacking area, as all Transmission Antennas are simultaneously friendly AND enemy repeaters. Since no firewall MODs are applied, it doesn’t matter which antenna each one claims when targeting each other. Hacker 3 is not safe from Hacker 1, no matter where he is on the table. So long as Hacker 4 is within 8” of a Transmission Antenna, every enemy hacker on the table is in his hacking area. Hacker 2 and hacker 3 are not ‘safe’, but they are safe from each other… for now. That safety will last only so long as neither of them get within 8” of an Antenna. As soon as either one of them is within 8” of an Antenna, they are each in the other’s hacking area. Transmission Areas vs Transmission Antennas Each Zone of Operations is a 4” radius around each Transmission Antenna. Each Antenna is a ‘Frenemy repeater’ with a radius of 8”. This is important to keep in mind when setting up tables, as you want the ‘Better’ deployment zone to also have better cover inside the ZOs. Munkie
Yeesh, I do not like the "get a hacker within 8" of any of these points, and hack any hacker on the table with impunity" rule. This'll be interesting.

Khail
The zone for scoring is only 4", but it's a repeater for 8".
Munkie
10 hours ago, Fix said: Wat. It's one of those little rules hidden away under the rules for repeaters--hacking an a enemy repeater. I wasn't convinced it even worked that way in this scenario at first but it's alluded to in the scenario (where it says "Transmission antennas don't apply the firewall mods"). Definitely could've been more explicitly written. Hackers be real good. But also real vulnerable if both sides have them.
Khail
Yup - no firewalls at all when using the Transmission Antennas to hack through. Hacking AROs are vicious in this mission.
Wiccus
So either get tons of hackers, or tons of unhackable things. Or keep your hackable things safe.

Or at least not while there are enemy hackers left alive. Even unhackable things are vulnerable to Spotlight - Jim, if you were ever going to bring a smart missile bot, now is the time! Munkie
I just want to make sure I understand hacking AROs because they seem like they're important. 1) A hacker can hack any hackable thing within his ZoC (the 8" bubble) or within the ZoC of any repeater--no line of slight required. 2) Following this, a hacker can declare a hack as an ARO if anything activates in his, or any repeater's ZoC--again, no line of sight required. 3) If the hacker is within the ZoC of an enemy repeater, he can hack any enemy hacker on the table (applying the firewall mods)--still no line of sight required. However, the hacker cannot hack anyone on the table, just any hacker. They're other hacking options are restricted to ZoC and friendly repeater ZoC. 4) The transmission antennas follow the above statement with the exception of no firewalls. 5) Obviously, if a hacker is using an enemy repeater or transmission antenna to hack any hacker on the table, they are also hackable since they're within the ZoC of a frenemy repeater. We should expect a lot of hacking duels, since a hacker sitting near a transmission antenna will be ARO locking other hackers down if they do anything but hack back. Are all of the above statements true? "Live by the SWORD-1, die by the SWORD-2"--ancient hacking proverb
Khail
Yes, these are all true. Note that stealth still trumps the no LOF required bit - you have to be looking at a heavy infantry or hacker with stealth to hack it in ARO, or it has to break stealth (by hacking shooting, etc). 1

Wiccus
Hey guys thanks for playing in the league. You have until next Tuesday to get in any make up games. I will be creating a poll or anonymous message vote for favorite mini and favorite opponent. In the next week or 2 I will announce the winners and set up a time to pick up prizes. JMGraham
Thanks a million, Joey! It was awesome to see so many Infinity tables. I'm feeling much more comfortable with the new edition of the rules, in spite of my constant stream of rules questions.
Khail
I'll echo the thanks Joey! It's been awesome to participate in/support a league as opposed to being the guy having to run one. I know how much work it is, so I want you to know how much I appreciate your effort. A+, would play again.
Kalahanarama
Yes, I want to jump on this Joey thanksgiving wagon. I have been wanting to play Infinity for several years but just couldn't get people interested in it nor find a game store that supported the playing of the game. This was a perfect opportunity for me to learn the game, meet other like minded gamers, and develop friendships that I will hopefully continue to game with. Thanks for facilitating this all. Wiccus
Hey guys. Sorry it has been a while without communication. I have been very busy with school. Anybody from the league that wants to be entered into the best painted category please post a couple of pictures here or on the facebook page. Also pm me with the name of your favorite opponent. I will have final standings and prizes next week.
