Guest
Finally decided to make this army, been in my head for a long while. Got the original idea from the random chapter creation tables in the Fantasy Flight Deathwatch RPG. The idea is that the chapter has a dysfunctional Catalepsean Node, which causes them to go to into deep sleep at random times (narcolepsy). The sleep is similar to stasis, so they effectively have a longer lifespan (though they often die while asleep due to outside influences). So, mid-battle, they might just go to sleep for 10-100 years. They tend to get mistaken for statues and are forgotten, hence the chapter name. Chapter is a Dark Angels Successor and a loyalist chapter, led by Interrogator-Chaplain Romanus. Chapter is often found working alongside Ordo Hereticus and the Sisters of Silence. Paint Scheme is a Dark Grey. That said, models will have visible rust and plants growing off them, representing years asleep. All marines will be helmeted. Chapter logo will be like the DA winged sword, but with bat wings instead of feathered. Army will not include any flying models, save a single Caestus Assault Ram (which rams whenever the pilot nods off the sleep) and any automated flying vehicles (like drop pods). PourSpelur
Check out the "Stonecast Eternals" for a cool, similar look.
SPaceORK
Might wanna look at AOS tree people for plants n tree branches. And isn't there a gw vine kit?

Guest
Sake of argument, any mechanical rule against fielding Cypher or fallen alongside detachments of Dark Angels? Obvious fluff reasons against, of course.
Guest
Anywho, picked up some DW terminators. That kit is amazing. That said, I kinda feel GW outdid themselves with that kit. I can't imagine GW being able to sell any DW characters with that kit out, as it's just an amazing kit with lots and lots of kitbash potential. I do need to peek at Index 1 when I'm at WOW today. Gotta compare options with the ones in the DA codex. Annoying, battlescribe doesn't typically mention which options are codex and which are index, so I'm unclear which things are errors and which things I have access to. Found a few errors already, but mostly minor stuff. I have been tinkering with list building options. That Caestus Ram AND fielding terminators AND a dreadpod AND a dread AND Karamazov AND sisters of silence is quite a balancing act. I'm thinking I may have to either field a very bare quantity of command points, or plan to include the 3 factions only in a 3k army. Another option is that I could just field the Sisters of Silence models as INQ acolytes. Kinda bugs me, but also appeals as getting INQ acolytes would otherwise require conversion and they do look like Ordo Hereticus Acolytes (and I already own the sisters of silence models). I am thinking I'm going to steer my army towards the leadership penalty angle. DA seem to be really well equipped for that, and INQ further boost it. Just sorta figured they'd have some special rule that prevented it. Was thinking that Cypher would be a particularly obnoxious one to bring in that Week 5 escalation game... There's even a stratagem where pick an enemy model pregame as a model that might know more about the fallen, so we try extra hard to "capture" them. VonVilkee
In narrative gaming I'd just flip it around! Course I favor tearing the imperium down over propping it up...
Guest
Borrowing INDEX 1 from WOW to compare it with the DA codex. The main thing is that the DA codex has lower power levels for almost all of their TDA characters, and, coincidentally, the codex TDA characters usually lack storm-shield access. Battlescribe, of course, doesn't note the distinction. Still can't figure out where battlescribe is getting rules for stormshields on the Tartaros Terminators. Even if it's an index thing, DA don't have index access to Tartaros terminators in the index, they only gained them in the codex.

I really thought they were plastic and greenstuff at first, and was kind of confused, because I couldn't see what the greenstuff was doing that a regular shoulder pad wouldn't. Makes much more sense now.

Guest
Got the GW vines kit. They are hard to work with. They aren't GW plastic as you'd expect, but instead are a rubbery plastic that flexes a bit, but also breaks if flexed at too sharp corners. Not so much an issue for large things, as they are probably intended to be used, but on man-sized things, like having the vines "grow" around my terminators, I've had difficulties. Might have to settle for very limited applications of the vines. As I type, thinking I could look into heating them up, so see if that helps or just turns them to goop.... So far, paint scheme is grey and green, as pictured above. Mostly grey, just minor sections in green. I plan to add one more color for things like chapter logos or squad markings, and maybe a color for eyes, but that's really it. Then just weathering effects, like exposed metal, rust, and life growing off the marines.

I was able to wrap them around my Thorns of the Briar Queen without too much trouble. Just had to go slow and make sure that each bend was solidly in place before moving on to the next one.
