indytims
Wow... thanks for ruining my Warhams, Pretre! :( That doesn't sound very good. I mean, unit cards... ok. Something 'similar' to 3rd edition, which I loved... ok. But no points costs? And you can use any minis, mixing across 'factions'... basically, GW's sales catalog is one big army list to choose from? Ugh.
Brother Glacius
I was just noting the overly muscled Kings of War look that the sigmar figs is looking pretty had, plus a leader on a battlecat-like model good right about now... McNathanson
Obviously they're counting on the Swedish Comp authors to publish composition rules :)
indytims
Yeah... Very curious to see how THAT is going to work. "Ok, you brought your 14 Bloodthirster force. Nice! Let's see what happens against my 500 Stormvermin list! Wheeeeeee. Dunno whether to be confused, disappointed, or insulted....
pretre
From what little we can see of the rules, the "last ditch win" thing was hugely misrepresented by that one guy. Battles are supposed to be played till someone has no minis left. If this takes too long, the player who lost a smaller percentage of their force (by pure model count) wins. Only if someone starts out with a significantly smaller force is he allowed to pick an objective, so that he has a fighting chance.
pretre
Battleshock (morale) happens for both sides - no 'winning' side in combat. Players each roll 1D6 + number of models in unit slain = X. One model is lost for each point above the Bravery of the unit. Add +1 bravery for every ten models...(something about larger units). pretre
As a fun note, pretty much every rumor monger was wrong about Warhammer 9th.
pretre
I'm hoping the stat cards add the depth people are looking for. Right now, it looks pretty simple and easy to use. I kind of like that idea. Simple rules system with complexity added by units.
Peanut
Yeah I hope there's some kind of points system... We need something!
fluger
I wonder if the Points will be on the scrolls.
fluger
Yeah I hope there's some kind of points system... We need something! I imagine the tournament scene will have to start one on their own. This actually could be a good thing. How many times have underpriced or overpriced units been a problem. If the points can be adjusted by the community, that could be a huge boon. You could legitimately play ANY unit then and be OK. That would be glorious.
pretre
The thought right now (speculation) is that you will have X scrolls in your army and your opponent will have X scrolls. Each unit will cost Y scrolls. So I take: 20 Skaven Slaves (1 Scroll) Skaven HQ (1 Scroll) vs Dragon of doom (2 scrolls)

Hobbitron
Am I the only one who isn't seeing saves on here? The Mystic Shield specifies that you can add 1 to all save rolls. So... sounds like there might be a bit outside of the pictures. This is all... intriguing.
McNathanson
Honestly the further GW stays from game balance, the better off the game will be.

Threejacks
If those rumors of no point system is true then they don't have much of a game at all...sounds like something Hasbro would put out for rules.
fluger
Honestly the further GW stays from game balance, the better off the game will be. That's actually what I was thinking. If GW just basically bowed out of trying to balance the game with points and just gave us the rules, I think the huge community could do a better job of balancing the points out.
