Should probably start this... We are in early planning but the same four guys from 2018 are riding again. One revamped returning army, two different armies and one possibly different army. Using the OFCC to force painting is a time honored tradition right? I'll be updating things here as we go!

Vanguard Primaris marines: where I detach plz?
VonVilkee replied to Sgt. Rock's topic in Warhammer 40,000
Fyi the legion of the damned picked up their own detachment in like an faq or chapter approved so that they could be used with out breaking chapter tactics much like the assassins... -
It isn't lists but watch out for optimization. As ofcc is an event not a tournament over half the field are "dirty casuals" who are not on the cutting edge and jump to worse case scenarios. Great people to hang out with for a couple of hours rolling dice but not optimized or up to date on the best way to deal with the powerful that has a major weakness to exploit. With list building avoid setting up gotcha unit deletion as many opposing lists will have fewer responses to power units. Lists that go all in on leveraging their strengths will meet some resistance as you've seen. The trick is that the competition is really to be the most fun guy to play not win your games. This means different things to different people. To stack your chances for the Marshall Johnson award (the most prestigious) you need to step back from cutting edge let go of some crutch units and let loose. I was the captain of a team last year that had to fight tooth and nail to get a knight list through. My player who brought it only really had access to it, I wanted to make a point, and while we won the Marshall Johnson he is bringing nothing but a marine list this year. My suggestion is not to take lists that cater to the forum here or even change the list perhaps but just take lists that aren't on the cutting edge to help with the feels. Wow that got long! As the captain take the lists on your team and ask your self how would I match this up against 2 bottom 25% lists (ones that have few answers so no matter the skill they lose but "look" like armies from the fluff) one solid contender, and one fairly competitive list who has probably had to draw all the other competitive lists. You will be balancing their fun does that competitive guy need to play all the lists with the loyal 32 or the next best thing cuz that's what he brought? I've found leveling with players on what they would get matched up with based on the list they turned in can have an impact on what list they think will be fun...

Team Imperial Krusaders
VonVilkee replied to Lyraeus's topic in Ordo Fanaticus Club Challenge (OFCC) August 16th - 18th, 2019
I work hard at not being ruthless even though I would want to be. I think the match will be a good one on how to loosen up have fun at this event while still winning games and playing to the rules. It is a crazy amount of plates to keep spinning but so worth it -

I was already heavily considering issuing a challenge to your newly founded team. @Lyraeus consider yourselves challenged! You personality seem to hold to a similar gaming philosophy as myself (play it as right as allowed but ensure the tricks I use are at least known to exist) so I'd like the opportunity to throw down both dice and beer with you. Be aware I do bring some pretty casual players with me but a couple of us punch above our casual weight class. -
Keep going the orlock will be easier. Even I found cawdor fiddly

It is up to the players/ arbitrator. The rules just say make a deck of all available cards. There are some pretty obvious power cards but if you are doing the scenario selection more or less as presented it is a great balancer as long as your deck isn't too big. Seems to work best as generic or a full gang box. Some mix and match ala netrunner is super fun. Just look out for that guy and you'll be fine. Well prepared counters click... initiative advances on key models or just not relying on single models helps with others.

Away from book but I believe the rules state. If you charged in the preceding charge phase you can only direct attacks at things you charged. The feeling i got from the rule was that no matter how you get stuck in that initial combat phase you need to give your opponent a chance to overwatch if you are able to attack them. If all you're doing is thing them up go for it.

There is a rule that you can only direct attacks at units you declared a charge against if you charged that turn. This does not stop you from consolidating there but you may give your opponent another unit that can fight that you can't attack first... you can declare any number of targets and suffer overwatch from each then see how it shakes out. Lots of gambling possibilities. Another tricky bit no matter how far you can move you can only declare charges up to 12" away from where you start. The extra movement just makes it easier to move around and consolidate into other units... so tactical!

Bolt weapons are amazing combined with munitioneer! Inspirational can help you fight to the last man of necessary. Bomb rats are the bees knees for timing smoke grenade advances.

Love it! With 20 guys I'd build a fair few sans magnets (most of the basic gun gangers) to cut down on fiddly models. Focus on champions and leaders for the magnets. Fyi for truly dense terrain don't scoff at the 2d. Tunnel fights are great for some cash and cawdor with their numbers and templates are quite good there. Orlock can hold their own too. I find that the best balance is to mix terrain types with each player picking as appropriate power the scenario selection section. Using one type to the exclusion of the other will lead to build quirks. Even the most dense 3d still has long range advantages while even the most open 2d favors close in.
