  1. Okay, this topic is two-fold. One is, how good is the Questoris Knight Magaera? Here's the link... http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Warhammer_40000/Questoris_Knight_Magaera.pdf The big difference I see is the Init of 2 and the 3 attacks., as opposed to 4 and 4 from a regular knight. The main gun is neat, and could be okay. the other weapons are neat, and the shield is amazing. BUt how does it stack up to the usual battle cannon knight? second question, if i wanted to run one of the forge world knights that the more up-right guys, instead of hte beetle-back ones, and the only model i have is the beetle back ones, can i do that legally? Their profile is different,,, but if i get weapons that look like the ones on the FW one, can i run that in a tournament legally? or do i have to get the sepcial FW model? I ask because jeff, my bf, got me a knight box for christmas, and i wanted to know my options. Any thoughts or help?
  2. My issue is with the new tau stuff in Mont'ka, they could easily clear out 175 T3 5+ models without breaking a sweat, all on their first turn, especially with three riptides turning into six for one turn, super buffed drones, and the like. Without a major rework to the guard codex in general, giving up obsex will see them losing to any power faction, and to gladius (because they KEEP ob sec). They either need to check the power creep (wont happen) or redo the dex.
  3. When a flyer deep strikes, does it get a choice what mode it comes in using? can it deep strike and be zooming?
  4. i wont, are you going to be there sat?
  5. pop can is too small, go for a gatorade bottle, the fatter ones. it's almost exactly the same size.

I'll be there, yes, as long as the nest is open. and that'll be our make-up day. it's technically after all the league games. so it'll be relaxed, and also there for people to make up any games they missed.
  7. Alright, simple question. Super heavy vehicles are immune to immobilized results. How does this interact with grav weapons?
  8. Yes. that's fine there are missions, you'll find out which ones on tourny day. I think the tables are fine, but we might need one more table in general.
  9. I still content the doubles tourny on friday was a hit, and the way to go. That way you can have your khorne flake and eat them too (since we seem to be moving forward with the khorne-themed puns)
  10. Or, LH, you could just chuckle at them like I do, knowing that you can and would beat them if it ever came down to it. However, WAAC gaming is stressful and annoying. I can measure my nerd d$ just as well as anyone else, but I feel little need to 'make them listen'. Present your point, if they disagree, or call you a fool, just smile at them and watch their face fall when you crush them. You WANT them to under-estimate you. In the end it just comes down to, you know how good you are, who cares if they do? You can always show up, play them, beat them, or at least give them a damn good game, and walk away knowing they now understand. As a captain at OFCC, I had some comments made by other captains about the 'ork list' on our team (not knowing *I* was the ork player), saying that they shouldnt pair so and so up against it, as the ork player would lose in two turns. They did not understand how the list functioned, or the tactics it used. They only judged it as an ork list, with no green tide or giant bike deathstar. You shouldnt begrudge them that, that's all they know. after the round i carefully explained to him how the list worked, and his eyebrows went up and he understood. It was a take on orkz he'd never seen done competitively. Nothing he said was out of spite or arrogance or intended to be mocking, he was simply speaking from HIS experience. Let them learn, or ignore them and teach them when you get the chance. Above all else, play to have fun, play for the love of the game, and play how you want to play. Don't let the ignorance of others get you down.
  11. It's strong as hell. and very solid. Are you going for something more powerful, or something softer? The buffmander could be more buffy. And stormsurge doesnt really need the fifty point shield. It's nice but it makes him too expensive IMO.
  12. agreed. changing it's type, without increasing it's cost. was asinine. Oh well.
  13. There is something to this, but this is the internet. I bring orkz to events, hell I'm going to the next Adepticon with them. I fully expect people to underestimate them, and treat them as a joke. I have a few tricks, solid strats and good units that I have found work against a variety of opponents, and can hang in there with the 'big boys' as well. The point though, is that you have to couch your statements. I'm supremely confident in my ability to beat any list, through psychology, tactics, strategy or sheer luck (orkyness). However, that does not mean I think I WILL win every game, I know I wont, just that I CAN. I'm a reasonably skilled player (When i'm not drunk), I build solid lists using units that a lot of people don't consider or see often, and that gives me an edge. But I agree with a lot of what was said, My little bit there, I couched it. I CAN win against any opponent, but I don't think I will win every game. Orkz are competitive, and can beat armies like tau, or eldar, or space marines... but they are not as innately competitive as those armies. Those armies have the prices, units and ease of use that make them truly all-around competitive in any environment. In the end, present yourself as less arrogant, more humble, and let your innate skill as a player show through. I actually like you in person, but your online persona both amuses and irritates me. Let who YOU are shine through.
  14. Yeah, it's amazing seeing how simply changing the wraithknight from monstrous creature to gargantuan, and changing the guns from str 10 to str D has changed it. immensely and immeasurably.
  15. could you see if you can trade shifts? this really seems like the best day for most involved. we'll try and figure it out if you cant Rob.
  16. So, we're planning on having our first legitimate tournament Dec 5th. This will also be the end of the first Escalation league, and a semi-party type thing. so, the details for the tourny... Buy in: Purchase a box of something from the Nest. This is instead of a 15 or 20 dollar buy in as with most tournaments. That way you get to keep your models even if you dont win anything. You can talk to James ahead of time, and have him special order what you want. Points: 1850 (this is the standard tournament size. Most of our tournies will be 2k, but I figure that might be hard for some people to swing. If you want to do 2k instead, say so in your response to this post) ITC rules? Yes Painted? It would be nice, but you do NOT have to have tourny legal paint on your models. We'll get to that soon. Prizes? James has agreed that first, second and third will get some kind of gifts certificate. That is in addition to everyone keeping the box they bought as their buy-in. Time: We'd like to start around Noon on Sat. Format: We're going to be doing 2 hour rounds, with a break in between each round. Tentative Schedule: 12:00 pm - Arrive and get out models, check in, get opponents. 12:30-2:30 pm - First Round 2:30-3:00 pm - break and table switch 3:00-5:00 pm - Second Round 5:00-6:00 pm - Dinner Break, socialize 6:00-8:00 pm - Final Round 8:00-8:30 pm - Prizes and war stories. Who can make this? Who cant? is another day better? Sound off!
  17. I know. it just stings so bad that the stompa is one of the most over-costed in the game. I"m actually quite pleased with the stormsurge. it's strong, but not too strong. tough but not too tough, expensive but not.. you get it.. and it needs support, it cant roll an entire army like some *coughwraithknightcough* can.
  18. Eldar get wraithknights. That doesnt seem so bad. :-p (jk)
  19. In IA:8 you can build your own stompa, including a klawstompa. I REALLY want to use one, for fun and profit and WAAAGH!!! at an ITC event. Are they legal?
