What you have listed here would work great for AoS but you definitely have two armies here. Are those chosen metal or crap cast?

I had the opposite luck the week prior with my Dwarves. My cannons could not hit the broad side of a castle and were promptly shot off the table by Dark Elf Reaper bolt throwers. Ah dice, gotta love em!

True in theory... Other than tournaments, how many times have you shown up for a game and ended up playing Pitched Battle (WFB reference)! My experience has been 9 times out of 10 and I've been playing Warhammer since 1985. A very long time. Frankly I was getting extremely tired of the line up the armies and slap each other silly till one side concedes. I applaud AoS and the effort to move the game to a purely scenario driven system. So far the only game that I was not impressed with in AoS was the time when we just lined up our forces across the table and tried to kill each others army. The game was boring and lacked any real depth or challenge.

I think I will try and make it to this. I just picked up the new rule book and am looking forward to see how this game goes. I'm really enjoying AoS but KoW could be an additional fantasy game to add to my gaming collection.

Funny Tom! Show me any game where the rules for balancing are. If games were balanced we would not need things such as Swedidh or ETC comp systems. It is practically impossible to balance any game unless your playing Stratego or chess. Now as to the original question there are a few ways to equalize the gaming experience. Azyr comp, Lords of War, UK Independent Pool and Clash Comp, Ordo comp, etc. are just a few examples. So far my group has had luck not utilizing anything but the pre game discussion on what everyone brought and what everyone's expectation from the game is. Sure we have had some lop sided model count and power level games but AoS is a scenario driven game. The game really shines when playing for objectives, scenarios and story lines!

I'm trying to grasp why the Lord Castellant has the Realmgate deployed with him? Is this Battalion a scenario specific one? Meaning you can only field this group if you play this particular scenario. I really need to pick up my copy of this book so I can read up on the fluff and rules.

Interesting... I think that these grand formations are cool and would look spectacular but with that high of a model count will rarely be seen on the table.

I like the Laurels of Victory conditions. I think it would be fun to roll these in the blind. That way each player woulx have a hidden or secret agenda. Maybe roll twice with one known and an alternate one. That would be great too!

Great games last night. I especially enjoyed the Epic conflict between the Glotkin Nurgle hordes and the Bloodthirster and his blood frenzied warriors. I'm loving how this new game plays!
