  1. I have finally moved everything out of the old apartment and into my new one. Now I have to unpack the oh-so-many-boxes. Sigh. Once I finish unpacking (or at least enough so that I can move around) I'll fix my dining room table and set up shop. The goal is to get my army table ready for Rampage. It's gonna be a couple hectic weeks. Lol.
  2. I talked to Angel (the owner of GG) two weeks ago, while I was playing Infinity and other games on the second floor we rented out, and she said she wasn't interested in stocking Infinity. Even though I told her that there is huge interest growing in the area, she seemed pretty decided. I told her about the 20% off at RC (though I stand by my latest review of RC, and will never step foot inside that hellhole again). Angel was basically of the "Let them have it" mentality. I'm pretty confident that it will be quite a long while before Infinity gets stocked there, if ever. That being said, I have ordered quite a bit of Infinity from them, and I always get my order within a week (longer for preorders or limited/hard-to-get items), and out the door in a couple minutes upon pick-up. I even got a first edition copy (of which I have two, cuz I ordered through multiple places to make sure I got it) of Angel Giraldez' Painting from A to Z book through Guardian. From what I've seen, Guardian has let up a bit on taking customer suggestions for new products to carry, and I don't blame them. They used to take tons of suggestions and now have in stock a bunch of fad games people don't care about, product that will never sell. I have, however noticed (and had it confirmed by Angel) that if the staff there see people playing games in there store that they don't stock, they will consider stocking it. A big part of their business is people playing games inside their store, at their tables, which promotes foot traffic for the store. Not only will that make the staff aware that people are playing the game, but it also brings awareness of the game to potential new players walking around the store. I have the feeling that if more people play Infinity at Guardian, we will see them start to stock it sooner than later.
  3. So how many people do we have for rampage then?
  4. So I am in the process of moving, finally. My first few weeks at the new job have been great. Things are a little busier here, but also a little more lax in some ways. A lot more events and conferences. I signed papers last Thursday for my new place, so I'm packing up my stuff for the move on Saturday. So come Christmas time I should be more available for games once I get settled in. Scared Hitless had a little get-together for Aaron's (Muskrat) birthday a couple weekends ago, and rented out Level Up (second floor of Critical Sip at Guardian. I got in a game against a new guy Joe, who I recruited (muhahaha). We had a central comm tower, and the objective was whoever had the most models on the platform at the end of 3 won. I was more objective oriented, so I ended up winning, though he took out a good number of my models. Good lord, Ariadna has a ton of rules to learn. I'm a bit more polished on the rules than Joe, so I did most of the looking up as I knew where they were in the rulebook. Also played a game of KoW, and it just seemed like an incredibly stress-free game. I had a ton of fun (against Frazier no less ), even losing as bad as I did. I am still gunning for making Rampage, assuming I have everything ready by then. I don't know how long it will take to set up my apartment. A lot of new furniture coming soon. Ugh.
  5. Okay I have a gripe. Most of you probably know my feelings about old Red Castle. Upon recommendation from a few of you, I gave them another chance. I ordered a bunch of infinity models through them (over $200 worth). They said it would take three or four days to get it all in (except for the preorder model, which is understandable). It took about a week, which was fine, since I live pretty far away, and usually only drive into Portland proper on the weekends. When I got there, they said one of the models didn't come in. So I said that was fine, just let me know when it gets in. I waited in line for about 25 minutes. They called me a week later saying there was some mix up at the distributor, and they reordered the model through another distributor. They said it would be in the next day's shipment. I called the next day (now being wary of driving all the way there for no reason). It wasn't there yet, so I told them just to call me when it came in. A week and a half goes by, they call me up in the middle of the week and tell me it's there, and I told them I'd be in on Saturday to pick it up. I get there on Saturday morning with Muskrat, on my way down to Salem for a fishing trip, and there's a god damn line of like 25 people just waiting. I let them know I just have an order to pick up that I already paid for and they tell me to get in line. Meanwhile I'm getting mean-mugged by all the magic nerds in line; apparently there was a new expansion out or something. Mind you they had one person in the back, a person at the register helping people, and another one just bullsh*tting with the one at the register and distracting her, he wasn't helping anyone at all. After a half hour of that bull[big bad swear word] I just left. A half hour. Just to pick something up that I already paid for. And there were still 20 people ahead of me when I walked out. I call the next week, and they said that I can come in and pick it up, but they said the preorder model would be coming in the next week. I told them just to call me when it came in and I could pick up both models at the same time. 5 weeks go by (after me calling once a week to see if they got it in yet. They called last Thursday, and I told them I would be in mid-week to pick it up. I go in yesterday, in a time constraint on my way to a meeting. Some dick is complaining about some membership crap. Fine. Whatever. Then the next person in line is some spoiled little teenage girl building a netdeck, and is looking for every card in the damn deck apparently, so she takes forever. 25 minutes later, her grandpa pays for her refuse. I get my order and walk out. Drive like a maniac to make my schedule. I put the order in Sept 5th. I get the last of my order Nov 18th. That's 74 days ladies and gentlemen. Now, even considering the preorder, which they said would be in Oct 1st. I didn't get a call to pick it up until 6 weeks later. 6 weeks. Now, I have to say, at least the people are nice now. They actually like customers this time around. Maybe because the people I've talked to were female, not some power-hungry douche-nozzles like the old days. Still. Upon insistence that they've changed their ways, I gave them another chance. Something I swore I would never do. It took me 74 days to get my stuff. Now, I'm all in for supporting LGSs. I try to shop at smaller stores or locally owned stores for my stuff whenever logic dictates. And have been nothing but pleased with some stores, most notably Guardian. When I get a call from GG, I go in, and I'm out the door in less than 5 minutes, even when they have a yugioh or magic tournament going on. I also happened to stop by Guardian right after Red Castle yesterday on my way to the meeting to pick up the KoW book I had on hold there. literally less than 60 seconds in and out. But 74 days, and waiting in line for a cumulative of an hour and 45 minutes (not counting how much longer it would have taken had I actually stayed during the apparent magic fest), I have deemed Red Castle now completely a lost cause. I know some of you like that place. I appreciate that. But for me, for someone who has to drive 25 minutes into town, and just wants to pick up something they already paid for without waiting a minimum of half an hour, it is definitely not worth it. I'd easily rather go to Guardian and pay the extra 20% and get my stuff promptly and get checked out quickly, than spend another minute at Red Castle.
  6. So I'm dredging up my old thread for a reason. Though I've been a proponent of moving from 8th to Infinity post mortem, I've missed the entire league season at Ordo! Ugh! I do have an excuse though. I got a new job! Better pay, more specialized. I'll be working at Reynolds throughout the month of November, finishing up my projects so I don't leave anything piled on for the next person. Starting December 1st, I'll be working at PPS, and scrambling to find a new place as my lease is up at the end of December. So I've put my hobbies aside during these hectic, crazy months!. Hopefully things will start to calm down in January. The good news is PPS is just a block north of the Rose Quarter, and the place that I hope to lease is a couple blocks east of the Rose Quarter. So I will be significantly closer to WOW. Better than driving a half hour in from East Gresham. So hopefully after the new year I will be more visible on scene than I have been of late. I still plan on making Rampage!
  7. Also Quick Hold by E6000 is pretty awesome. I picked it up at Michaels for MDF terrain building, and used it on models too. Worked great in both cases. I also had the same problem with Zap line and metals. Quick Hold cures fairly rapidly, but takes overnight to bond fully. Best stuff I've used so far. I also tried it with unwashed infinity models (I usually scrub them with warm water and soap and a toothbrush, as stated above), and the Quick Hold worked just fine. I think Infinity models are 'cleaner' with regards to release chems than other companies' models. PP, for example, is horribly notorious for leaving a white filmy release chemical, so when you scrub, it looks completely different. Infinity models don't look that different after a scrub. Maybe it's just me.
  8. Jake from Red Castle? What are you wearing, "Jake from Red Castle"?
  9. I'd love to, but I'll be in Memphis this weekend. Have fun guys! edit: how the heck do you have 50+ Quonset huts to paint?!?
  10. Yay! On a Saturday! I can probably make this one!
  11. I'll be in Tennessee. When is borderlands going to start having Infinity tournaments?
  12. Omg, bro. Get a 1 inch hole punch. Hell, you can borrow mine. It's painful for me to think you're cutting all those out with scissors.
  13. My first reaction while reading was that you can't use repeaters or G:Servants to perform actions reserved for specialists. But then I realized you guys had homebrewed your mission, not running a true ITS mission. I actually like the fact that you guys went off book. I find games like that more refreshing, and easier to tell a narrative for the reason why you are running the mission in the first place. ITS is great and all, especially for structured tournaments and such. But I really like the ability to create some in depth missions that fit your narrative (or vice versa). Fun read! Cheers!
  14. But they do work with clear acrylic bases which are cut straight up and down
  15. I'm glad I can preemptively learn for your guys' past mistakes
  16. I glued all my minis on their regular bases. I kept the metal bar between their feet and made that the contact point to the base so I could easily separate the mini at a later date when I'm done painting them. Then I can glue them on to the clear acrylic bases. For the remotes (as they don't have metal bars to cut off at their feet, I used poster tack to stick them to their bases. Four points of contact is enough for the tack to adhere them to the bases, but easy enough to remove and clean prior to painting. I did some research to see if anyone else had done what I plan, and I found one example: I like the fact that it makes the mini appear not to have a base, making the figure look more dynamic in its environment. I'm also thinking about picking up some brass compass bars from Antenociti to indicate front arc for the minis. With the clear acrylic disc, it would give the impression of a floating front arc which might be cool.
  17. What is the size difference, if any, between Dust and Infinity? Would the size of the crates translate over to 28mm?
  18. Ack, I won't be there this week. Rented a beach house with some buddies of mine and we're having a huge gaming weekend. Infinity, Warmachine, and a huge Descent campaign. Maybe in the coming weeks though. Sunday evenings are horribly inconvenient for me. Hope you all have fun tho! Glad on the uptick of popularity for the game!
  19. So I finished putting together my models listed in the OP, everything except the Spitfire Tiger Soldier that I will be picking up from Red Castle on Friday. I built the Boarding Shotgun Tiger Soldier as a proxy for now. I haven't based them yet, but will probably do that tonight. I will base them on the regular black bases that they come with, but will use minimal glue, just enough to be able to field them. I have clear acrylic bases I want to use after I paint them up, so I need to be able to remove the black bases at a later date. I like the acrylic bases because then A) I don't have to worry about painting up bases, and B) I don't have to worry about them not matching a new display board if I change things up. I've got a set of the 25mm, 40mm, and 55mm clear acrylic bases from amazon. The extra 40mm and 55mm bases I plan on using for various tokens/markers. For example, there's no way I'm going to be able to use 10 55mm bases, maybe 6 at most for my motorcycles and maybe a tag. But I can use the rest as dismounted motorcycle tokens. Same with the 25 40mm bases. I plan on using them as larger tokens like smoke grenade tokens with the dispersal arrows, etc. I'll use them much like the order tokens I made in a previous post above. I'll print them out from the Infinity Marker Sheet Creator with the option for making 40mm tokens, and then glue them face up on the underside of the tokens, much in the same vein as the order tokens with the clear epoxy stickers, to give them some heft. Obviously I don't have a 40mm or 55mm hole punch (believe me, I've looked), so I'll have to cut them out by hand. I was thinking of gluing the clear acrylics onto the sheet first, then using an exacto knife around the base as a guide to cut them out. I'll let you know how it goes once I get to that point.
  20. Here's some more of what I've done. Making some good progress.
  21. I mean what do you use as the 'decoys'?
