  1. How many points are we looking at for the demo games?
  2. I have a Yu Jing vanilla army that I've been meaning to try out. Haven't played a game yet, except for the first couple missions in the starter box. So I'm a noob too.
  3. The Good: HE vs DE: Eagle charged the flank of a 40 model repeater xbow unit (2 deep, 20 wide) with a L4 general, L2, and BSB. Eagle does a wound, one wound dealt back, eagle stomps for another. Eagle wins combat by 1 (flank and charge cancelled out by BSB and rank). DE player rolls 11 and reroll 12 for steadfast break check, Eagle catches them. Best 50 points ever spent. The Crazy: HE vs VC: L4 beasts with old Talisman of Saphery, Folariath's Robe (7th ed army book). Charged him out of a bunker against L4 general on TG to protect the rest of the unit. Cast Transformation of Kadon, ASF Mountain Chimaera does 5 wounds, transforms back into mage before the vamp hits back, which it can't because FoRobe can only be hit by magical attacks and TaliSaph turns all magical attacks into mundane attacks. Win by 6. Lord on TG crumbled to death, which leads to the rest of the army crumbling.
  4. They remind me of the little aliens that guard the beryllium spheres in Galaxy Quest.
  5. Without the constant thinking up new ideas and creating new lists, what the heck else am I supposed to do at work?!?
  6. What the eff. That is the best god damn idea ever. Srsly. Wat.
  7. Soo... it's not doubles... except for round three?!? Why the heck is it called doubles? Shouldn't it just be a team event, with teams consisting of two players?! And 2,000 points?!? So game three is 4,000 points per side, 4 players... hope there's increased time allotment for that game... In my mind, doubles is a great chance to build on the strengths of your army while another player covers your weaknesses in a collaborative effort. If we're playing two 1v1 battles, those weaknesses are much more prevalent. If I bring magic so my teammate doesn't have to, then during the 1v1 matches, he won't have a caster. This means we each have to bring lists to account for all aspects rather than building off your doubles partner. This also means that during game 3, one person can/will have a useless caster because their teammate has a better one, etc. So now you're just wasting points. Running it this way defeats the entire purpose of having a 'doubles' event IMO.
  8. Can we please get a calendar of events for OFCC? Even just a response to this thread. Maybe even something simple like: Friday: Infinity - $20 X-Wing - $20 Saturday: Team Fantasy 2-day - $75 Team 40k - $75 Sunday: Team Fantasy 2nd day - $0 Team 40k - $0 Or something like that. Flying all over these subforums just to try to get an idea of what the eff is going on is confusing as all hell.
  9. I have two problems: 1. July 16th is a Thursday. I keep reading that the event is on Friday. This is conflicting. 2. It says the Infinity event costs $20, and that there are tickets available. Yet when I click on the link, the store has neither an event ticket named Infinity nor any ticket that costs $20.
  10. Any update on which games will have events at OFCC and when? Personally, I'm interested in Infinity and Firestorm Armada.
  11. I got them up on Drive. PM me with your email address if you want them. Still looking for Thanquol...
  12. Also, if you want pdf versions of the first three ET books, I can get them to you. Don't spend $75 on something that you might not need/like. edit: crap. ET 2 and 3 are too big for gmail.
  13. Playing the devil's advocate... I wouldn't put it past GW to just eff over everyone. Don't get me wrong. I love the fluff of the Warhammer world, and further like the fluff moving forward with the End Times, and I think ET is actually one of the brighter spots in my experience with GW (other than there being zero new models with ET Khaine, which made me a touch furious, being a high elf and wood elf player, and owning a battalion box plus extras of dark elves). But if the rumors about ending both support and availability of models for 8th, well that's just going to be a shame. It's been a while since I've been able to put my faith and hope in GW.
  14. I agree that the End Times is an exciting time to get back into Fantasy. With it's rules changes and new models, it makes the game fresh again, and can bring back many a Fantasy player that left for other endeavors. I also love Warhammer partly because of the fluff. It is why I started with High Elves. And for once I actually enjoy the campaign supplements that GW is releasing in the End Times. I would go as far as to say it is a good time to come back to the game if you are an existing player, and to test out the new rules, and in the realm of tournaments to boot. However, I will have to disagree with my fellow compatriots, in that, I would have to say that the future of Fantasy is pretty bleak. I think that the rumors given by two-three (Harry, Hastings and Archibald) of the most successful rumormongers will most likely come to fruition, based on their reputation alone. The fact that they all agree and have heard the same thing from different sources corroborates that. And if these rumors do come to pass, then it is a bad time for a new player to build a Fantasy army, and a bad time for existing players to build new armies. With the advent that support for your army will no longer exist, rules-wise and models-wise, and my lack of interest in supporting a gaming company that would leave their players in the dust like this, I feel that, yes, it will be pretty bleak indeed. I will say that I will still play 8th edition - pre-bubblehammer, but I probably won't be purchasing new models for my armies, at least until the dust settles from 9th/skirmish. Nevermind the fact that they will most likely discontinue a huge swath of their models, making them unavailable for purchase anyway, let alone having to rebase all my gd models with round bases. There are other companies that do skirmish, and they do it better. Privateer Press has been doing it for over a decade and are already established, and I'm sure they've taken their share of players/potential players away from gw (maybe not a ton, but definitely some). And now GW is trying to revitalize their revenue stream by coming out with their own skirmish game with monthly releases? You're a decade behind. It's like when WAR came out 4 years after WoW. People are already invested in WoW. They're not going to switch to a [big bad swear word]tier version of the same game for the ridiculous prices that GW is most likely going to offer. And to top it off, who wants to invest in a company that is known for scrapping support for an entire genre of their player base? Corvus Belli is a great example of a company that just does things right. Free rules. New models every month for each faction. Solid forum with customer support. Direct answers to any question you might have. Constantly updated FAQs in the form of 'live' documents that are ever evolving to correspond with FAQs and Errata. Keeping in constant touch with the player base and giving the customers what they want. Creating their own free armybuilder. Cheap to buy into. Gorgeous minis. This. This is how you run a god damn company. I've been playing Warhammer Fantasy for 4 years and the dick f***ers over at GW are absolutely the worst in support and communication with their customers, not to mention their ridiculous prices. It's like they don't understand that pleasing your customer base is actually good for your business. And then I come across other gaming companies and see how amazing they are to their customers, it is just ridiculous to ever think why, oh why would I want to continue supporting a company like GW. Edit: Holy crap. Totally did not start out with a rant in mind.
  15. I don't know... that Umbra Legate is pretty much the sexiest effing model in the entire range...
  16. Still, a cannon firing into the flank of a unit of 3 Tiranocs, with 4 wounds each, that's not going to end well. 50% chance to kill the first with the multiple wound roll and move on to the next...
  17. Initiative of 0... doesn't that mean they're dead? I thought any stat reduced to 0 kills the model outright? I love WD armies. My friend played an all slayers army list from like 3rd edition or something. I love slayers, and I definitely think they should have had their own sub-army to begin with, so it was refreshing to see. I feel sorry for bringing a mean HE list against it though. Trial run of Savage Knights of Horros: mounted lord with leaping gold/p.strength, 4 mounted nobles - one with star lance, mounted L4 Beasts, in a large silver helm bus, and 3 units of 10+ dragon princes for flanking, cast boosted savage beast. 10 attacks at WS7, S10, ASF with rerolls at I8, Magical Attacks, no AS allowed on To Wound rolls of 6s (Prince) 6 attacks at WS6, S10, ASF with rerolls at I7, Magical Attacks, no AS allowed (Noble with Star Lance) 18 attacks at WS6, S9, ASF with rerolls at I7 (2 Nobles and Noble BSB) 1 attack at WS4, S6, ASF with rerolls at I5 (L4 Archmage) 9 attacks at WS4, S5, ASF with rerolls at I5 (9 Silver Helms) Suffice it to say, that was the first and last time I used that list. But I'm all for trying new/different things!
  18. All chariot High Elf list: L4 Archmage on Tiranoc chariot Korhil on White Lion chariot BSB on Tiranoc chariot Core Reavers and maybe Silver Helms 3 Tiranoc chariot 3 Tiranoc chariot 3 Tiranoc chariot 1 White Lion chariot 1 White Lion chariot 1 White Lion chariot 1 Lothern Skycutter chariot 1 Lothern Skycutter chariot 1 Lothern Skycutter chariot Great Eagle Great Eagle
  19. I got it preordered through FRP games website and through Guardian Games. There are a few other webstores that might still have it. You just have to dig a little.
  20. Anyone picking this up? I know I am...
  21. Ya, I noticed that too. At least Boneripper is a Large Target. Glottkin still isn't... And that means Glottkin can hide behind a fence... And his Inspiring Presence is only 12" pahahahahaha!
