  1. Muskrat and I are interested too. We're just starting out but I should have enough to start a 300 pt army, maybe more. Muskrat has like 3 armies.
  2. If the entire world were overrun by demon worshipping fanatics, giant plague rats with radioactive cannons, and the walking dead, and we had access to a stargate-pyramid-spaceship, I'm pretty sure the people in the Portland metro area wouldn't be exodus-ing to frickin Iowa. We'd be going to god damn outer space. Hell, I'd go to god damn outer space even if there wasn't all that other $#!+ in the world. If I had a spaceship and had to leave Portland, I'm gonna go grab me some green-alien-hot-chick-tail. Honestly, I don't mind the tendency toward optimism. I think (for the majority of us on here) we're all hoping these rumors are false. But if we look at the math alone, the statistical probability of these rumors coming true are pretty damn high. I wouldn't bet against it. Add to that the fact that GW is the most poorly run company I have ever witnessed, and it might as well be considered all but written in stone. I have no idea how the eff they have managed to stay around this long. Seriously, I've been playing Warhammer Fantasy for 4 years and the chum guzzlers over at GW are absolutely the worst in support and communication with their customers, not to mention their ridiculous prices. I'm pretty sure they're managed by an effing goat. I swear, they just take their rules, throw them in a paper shredder, feed them to the goat with a heavy laxative, and just let it diarrhea all over the wall, whatever sticks, that's the new edition. And their FAQs and Errata are worth less than whatever doesn't stick.
  3. Lizards be like 'eff this noise' and flying off in their Indiana-Jones-Crystal-Skull-Aztec-Pyramid-Spaceship...
  4. Yes, there are rumors on Warseer that can swing either way. But rumors from Darnok and his birdies are about 81% accurate. Rumors from Harry are over 85% accurate. This rumor, specifically, is backed up by both Darnok/birdies AND Harry. Also when you actually look at the specific rumors by Harry, the False rumors are mostly just timing. The order of Glottkin and Malekith (Khaine) were reversed. Sisters of Battle came out as an ebook. Blood Bowl released as a video game. And High Elves were after WoC, just not right after WoC. Of Darnok's/birdies' False rumors, 13/17 were about 40k, and the others were timing or things he said he didn't believe true, but heard from reliable birdies. So all that together, I'd say there's a pretty damn good chance what they're saying will come to pass. I don't want it to. But it seems like it. I know I'll still be playing 8th for awhile after the world goes to [big bad swear word]. But when they start taking models off the shelves and not carrying models for 8th anymore, I think that's when it will be time to fully switch to another game system. On a side note, I'm just getting started in Infinity (Yu Jing), so anyone interested, I'm down for a game or two (once I put my models together). N3 (Infinity 3rd edition) just release, and I have the hardcopies, but the rules are free online. All companies should give their rules for free. Also, I play Firestorm Armada (Directorate) and Warmachine (Retribution) as well.
  5. I agree with MN. All summoned units, period.
  6. I think it's disconcerting when Raindog has no idea when the rules are coming out...
  7. I don't even play skaven, but Thanquol is hilarious, and easily my favorite character in Warhammer.
  8. 9. Sorry, Muskrat and I are out. Friends gave us tickets to roller derby for Xmas. But Drak will still represent us from Scared Hitless! Sounds like fun though!
  10. The last time I talked to Angel about Infinity, she said she can order whatever we want for us, and she might start carrying it in-store if people expressed an interest. So everyone go to Guardian Games and tell them you're interested in Infinity.
  11. "After picking a Wizard and declaring which spell you want them to cast, you must roll a D6. The result of the roll is the maximum number of dice you can use to cast that spell (the minimum number of dice you must use is always one). You must also roll a D6 to see how many dice a Wizard can use to dispel a spell." Yup, Dwarfs and armies can use any number to dispel. Also you don't have to roll a D6 for a bound spell either, as far as I can tell. In my experience, the people who deliberate during the old Magic phase are going to take just as long in the new Magic phase. I play fast so my Magic phases go pretty quickly already. My experience with the new Magic phase didn't take longer really. You still have a set number of stuff to do. Sure you have more dice, and more attempts at casting, but there's less pressure in trying to make a big spell go off, and more just pelting the enemy with small spells or buffing up units with augments. There's less pressure about which of your units needs the buff more because if they dispel it, you just attempt to cast it again. I cast Flesh to Stone on 6 units, and it went quickly. Once you get used to the new Magic phase, I see it going fairly quick. It promotes less deliberation because you don't have to worry about which friendly unit needs a buff more over another, and which enemy needs to be hit with damage or hex spells more than others.
  12. Sorry. The rest of December for me is pretty chock full of birthdays and Christmas parties and weddings, so I'll be a little scarce on the scene. I am, however, meeting up with a friend to try out the new magic rules next Monday, so I'll do a write up afterward. Arkhan led TK vs Alarielle Incarnate led Host of the Eternity King. I'll try to make the next one. Have fun guys!
  13. I went 3-1 with my all beastmen Legion of Chaos army, and the only army I lost to was Nate's Beastmen. So between the two of us against other opponents, we went 7-0. Pretty good day for beastmen.
  14. Muskrat and I are in the Portland area and will be playing.
  15. I had a great time! And it was nice seeing Beastmen rock the scene! Nice job Raindog!
  16. Last I heard, End Times: Nagash and Glottkin are in effect, but Khaine is not.
  17. This might be a little cheaper... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/772848122/underground-lasers-iii-mining-outpost-alpha
  18. Only seven thousand years... Though Teclis realized their usefulness long before, and thus taught the Empire magic and created the Colleges. Edit: Actually probably more than seven thousand years, that's just how long Malekith has been stewing in his self-pity.
  19. @Murphy'sLawyer: You're totally right! I just picked up the book from Guardian. I was missing the second page for Magic of the End Times. It does say highest 2d6 of the 4d6 winds roll to determine dispel pool. Page 9 of the 2nd book for hardcopies.
  20. The 'Magic of the End Times' page states: "Here is a brief summary of the changes made to the Magic rules. More detailed explanations follow that describe exactly how the rules have changed." This page specifically details the changes. It does not state any changes to the rules for how to generate the Dispel Dice pool. Therefore, the original rules should take precedence. To further back up this argument, MotET page does not list bound spells. Does that mean we simply do not use bound spells? No. That means we use the original rules from the BRB, because no changes were made. Remember, this is a permissive ruleset, so it specifically has to say you can do it, otherwise you can't. It does not say you roll 4d6 for dispel pool. Therefore, you don't.
