  1. Look for the term "set up on the battlefield". That has a specific meaning in 8E.
  2. Overwatch is always hitting on 6's. At any other time your BS can be modified to 7+/automiss.
  3. Ok.. the flowchart is perfect. Especially for index sorcs in Deathguard using dark hereticus.
  4. heh. teams will be limited to around 10-12k. if we have 3 person teams then that's around 3.3 to 4k per person. if we can get 8 people then around 2.5 to 3k. The intent of this scenario is to allow a deep strike list into the teams so we can definitely use gunline and front line lists.
  5. The nasty flyers are the ones with the 18" flamethower. Auto hits.
  6. Event Location, Time and Date. Western Oregon Wargamers/Ordo Fanaticus clubhouse, 717 SE Main Street, Portland Oregon. 1200 Noon event opens, Friday November 24th (Black Friday), 2017. Event Organizer. Peter Cosgrove, 503-957.7906. PM peter.cosgrove. Status Senator/Ordo Fanaticus Proposed timeline: 1130 open up/prep area 1200 event open/prep teams 1230 Team captains roll off for deployment Break at end of turn 2. End of Turn 4 game ends, approx time 1630. 1630-UTC clean up/trash/prep area. Standard game night fee 2$/5$, Pizza/drinks provided. Table setup: Be prepared for holding the line, spearheads, deep strike, and long range gunnery. Bring as much as you can, bigger the better. Both sides simultaneously deploy. All Infiltration in neutral area and enemy deployment zone is delayed until beginning of first turn. Deployment time limited to max 10 minutes. First turn is a straight roll-off between Team Captains. On Turns 1-2, full units of non-fly infantry, bikers and dreadnaughts with 8 wounds or less can re-enter from their two backfield table edges or back 12" on their two side table edges and 9" away from enemy models. Any tactical reserves left after turn 3 are removed from game. Depending on who brings what team size may be limited to 10-12k per side. Both Teams will be generally made up of a judicious team list of gunline, front line heavy/mechanized infantry, and deep strike lists. So if you have a limited choice of an army please reply so we can configure accordingly prior to the event date. Also, if you can fill 2 or more roles with 2.5k to 3k in each role please also reply. In fact, just reply with what you can play and we might be able to configure the teams before hand. The overall intent is to keep a player at one table instead of bouncing back and forth between the two tables. Armies that currently do not possess a codex can use the proposed Ordo Fanaticus list of relics/detachment traits. Winners have to hold at least 2 OBJ by the end of Turn 4. Winners gain bragging rights for a period of 365 days.

  10. You know.. BRB says on page 175 "Sometimes a rule will say that it applies to models that have a specific keyword. For example, a rule might say that it applies to 'all Adeptus Astartes models' This means it would only apply to models that have the Adeptus Astartes keyword on their datasheet" so what datasheet has the keyword Choas Space Marine on it? Because if the only reason this isn't the case is because the Choas Space marine is not in bold then blame that on the typesetter. There is nothing in the rules that I can find that keywords have to be in bold in the rules in order for them to apply.
  11. however true any unit that has a champion is a squad. So chaos Space marines, Havocs, chosen, bikers, etc etc are all squads. It is also true that there isn't anything BRB specifying squads over units
  12. ya but. The only unit in the entire codex that IS a choas space marine IS the choas space marine squad. No other unit in the codex is a choas space marine or choas space marines. And the codex is Heretic Astartes. Not Choas Space Marines. Wait. Hold on. The quote on page 156 that the OP pointed out "In the rules described in this section we often refer to 'Choas Space Marine units'. This is shorthand for any unit that has one of the following faction keywords: <Legion>, Black Legion, Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion, Night Lords, World Eaters, Emperor's Children, Fallen or Red Corsairs. A Choas Space Marine Detachment is therefore one which only includes units with one of these keywords. Ok. at this point I have to agree with the OP. This one needs to be FAQ'd Because if they did it deliberately then the rest of the faction stuff in the first portion of the strategem is pointless, even for Fallen and Fabius
  13. No. Only the Choas Space Marine squad has the Choas Space Marines keyword.
  14. Anyway. Back to the original OP query. the gunline with tarpit screen is definitely a meta that's out there. The components that make it work are being able to keep units from deep striking close enough to the guns to kill them off, bringing enough guns that you kill everything on the board, and swarm the midfield to cap objectives with enough tarpit that they can't get you off of them. One of the meta-banger meta's are taking units that are unaffected by deep strike requirements and have enough oomph to take out the gunline.
  15. ya.. i thought so. wholly within has a very specified meaning to GW/8E. They only use it when they really mean it.
  16. You can only summon demons that match your mark. so if you wanted to summon diff demons than your mark you have to change marks.
  17. Well, the fortifications are unaligned. So you can take an imperial bunker as long as it's in the fortification detachment. The super heavy doesn't have the restriction that all units must be from the same faction. Probably because it's just one unit. Actually I think this was already answered a while ago using the following example You can have a detachment that uses 1 faction keyword, And the battle forged army can use a different faction keyword as long as all the models in all the detachments share that battleforged army keyword. So you can have an imperium battle forged army with a Black Templar traited detachment as long as all the models in the Black Templar detachment also have the imperium keyword. The exception is the unaligned units. unaligned Fortifications have to go into the fortification detachment and don't effect the battle forged army faction keyword.
  18. yeah. and I got my ass handed to me, tabled on turn 3 against an Aeldar player with 3 Hemlock Wraithfighters. I really wanted to try out the Oblits and he just walked up and shot them down with 4 melta pistols. I only put 8 lascannons on the board, which I sacrificed on to put the oblits on the board. Never again. 16 lascannons or bust.
  19. yeah.. the smite list. There's a couple people running it chaos renegade with baneblades/mortar teams/Artillery and TONS of cheap squads. 12 smites a turn is nasty.
  20. usually 4 quad guns. So 16D6 mortar attacks. Iv'e seen that from at least 3 players.
  21. If you have a -1 to hit you can get's hot with plasma on a 2.
  22. And to be honest. I was going back through the codex to find the point to wound comparison for non-DG Helbrutes vs Predators and randomly going down the line of weapons when the assault 4 froze at my reading point. I thought. "That's odd, that must be a typo or something". Been kind of focused on the storm eagle vs rhino and dropping a land raider off my list for something with 4 lascannons and or 2-3 somethings with 8-9 lascannons/missile launchers.
