Dark Trainer
You've all waited for it with baited breath. In order to allow people to familiarize themselves with standard 40k, we're doing a mission straight from the book and EASY at that. Feel free to play doubles, 1:1, or free for all! I recommend taking a look at the sportsmanship points (EASY to get with planning). This mission is used from Jan 8th to Jan 14th. Link to mission doc: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rLgJ4tQhcBmuDH_sUY7IqZbn7H1GyuNekrIPmhhQWy8 League week 1, Mission 1, No Mercy NARRATIVE "Hello, Generals...facts are, this planet is going to hell and we're the solution. It's cold, soldiers are dying, and did you hear? Them damn bugs just landed in the south. Add to that those damn robots with their gauss weapons searing men to death. Plus those damn Orks appear to be here in force...things are tough. But who's tougher than us? NO ONE. We've been sent here in advance to recon this frozen wasteland of a planet that has emerged directly from the warp. No one is sure how an entire planet can be brought from the warp to reality, but it has the deepest librarians concerned! This tainted planet doesn't show the usual signs of decay and rot you would expect from the mark of Chaos. Instead it's as if a bone chilling winter has frozen the effects. Time will tell what horrors this planet will reveal. There can only be victory, but in order to do so, many must lose." THE ARMIES Each player selects a 500pt Battle-forged army with no more than 1 detachment. THE BATTLEFIELD Create a 48”x48” table with proper 40k terrain density. Mission follows “No Mercy” on page 219. DEPLOYMENT (one on one, two on two, or four man free for all) Use dawn of war deployment (pg 216). Players roll off, highest roller picks deployment zone. Their opponent uses the other deployment zone. The players then alternate deploying their units, one at a time, starting with the player who did not pick their deployment zone. A player’s models must be set up within their own deployment zone. Continue setting up units until both sides have set up their army. FIRST TURN The player who finished setting up their army first can choose to take the first or second turn. If they decide to take the first turn, their opponent can roll a dice; on a roll of 6, they manage to seize the initiative, and they get the first turn instead! BATTLE LENGTH At the end of battle round 5, the player who had the first turn must roll a D6. On a roll of 3+, the game continues, otherwise the game is over. At the end of battle round 6, the player who had the second turn must roll a D6. This time the game continues on a roll of 4+, otherwise the game is over. The battle automatically ends at the end of round 7. VICTORY CONDITIONS At the end of the game, the player who has scored the most victory points is the winner. If both players have the same number of victory points, the game is a draw. Victory points are achieved for the following: No Quarter Given: Each player scores 1 victory point for each enemy unit that is destroyed. Slay the Warlord: If the enemy Warlord has been slain during the battle, you score 1 victory point. This is in addition to the 1 victory point you score for each destroyed enemy unit. First Blood: The first unit, of any kind, to be destroyed during the battle is worth 1 victory point to the opposing player at the end of the game. If two or more units from opposing forces are destroyed simultaneously, then both players get 1 victory point. Linebreaker: If, at the end of the battle, you have at least one model within the enemy’s deployment zone, you score 1 victory point. LEAGUE POINTS Win = 5 points, Draw = 3 points, Loss = 1 point Painting points: Newly painted model (1pt per, 3pts max) OR unit/vehicle/monstrous creature? (5 pts, 5pts max) Sportsmanship points: Create a weekly updated thread on the Ordo forums tracking your missions & progress +1pt Did you bring food for your league mates? +1pt Did you laugh or grin during the match or crave a rematch? +1pt
Sgt. Rock
Query: For weeks 1 and 2, are we still playing on a full 6'x4' board? It seems a bit large for such small games. I know I'm probably going to have around 20 models on the table, and I've had folks tell me in the past that 4'x4' works better at these point sizes. Ish
It says 48” x 48” table right there in the Battlefield description. I think you should have used a re-roll on that Spot check.

Sgt. Rock
I think you should SHUT UP! In all seriousness, I made that post before fully caffeinated, so I make no claims as to my ability to function at a full and proper level.

Psshhhh I saw that first thing. It also helps that anything 1k and under in the BRB is a 4x4

Sgt. Rock
Probably around the same for me. I'm going to have to deal with dreadful traffic no matter when I get there, unless I want to be standing in the cold out front of WoW for three hours... This is straight from the book. My opinion is that only applies to standard deployment. Units with special rules like infiltration or reserves are completely still allowed. FAQ rules still apply to those special rules, like X% deployed, turn 2 deep strike, etc. Unless I'm wrong and that mission is purposely trying to prevent those but I imagine they would have called that out. Ah, standard deployment rules. Perfect as infiltration happens after deployment @Kelharis, had to check that but I am 99% sure infiltration happens after the deployment phase or at the end of it

I think SM Scouts and Nurglings are the only units that currently Infiltrate during regular Deployment. Regardless, more specific rules overriding general ones is a fairly core principle of the game.
Kelharis
Infiltrate is during deployment for stealth suits, ghostkeel and Shadowsun. Basically can deploy anywhere not in opponents deployment, and more than 12" from opponents forces. I'm perfectly ok with a "standard deploy only" mission, just wanted to clarify before I plan on it.
Kelharis
Will anyone be available to play on Sunday the 13th? I would like to try and escalate with all of the other cool kids, but I cant come out to play on Tuesdays. My reluctance to commit to these type of things falls back to a limited availability and I dont want anyone to feel obligated to play me on a day that they cant, simply because I cant play on the day that they can. Anyway, I can make it to all the usual spots east of downtown, WoW, GG etc. Also, earlier is better for me due to someone having to wake up at 3:45 AM Monday for work. Dark Trainer
Week one is in full swing! One person out of the gate with a perfect score, win, sports, and painting! The week isn't over yet, get those games in before EoD Monday and report them. The scoring I need is with the first post here. Had a great turn out and a blast! Guest
I can arrange to meet at Guardian Games on Friday or Saturday, if someone would like a make up game (or just wants to play again at 500pts). Send me a PM. @Dark Trainer I was wary of a kill point mission at 500pts, but it actually worked out very well. Thank you, it was a blast.
