frank_dawg
I was big fan of X-Com, ran through it a few times. Anyone playing X-Com 2 yet?

frank_dawg
Can't wait to hear how it goes. I'm thinking of it as an I survived the term type gift.
Duckman
Read the negative reviews before buying. They consist mostly of "optimization pass desperately needed" and "turn limits are so tight that they eliminate all tactical freedom so don't buy unless you habitually run nothing but Assaults and maybe a Support or two." George
I've been playing it and when playing legendary level, yes, the turns are tight. That is the point. It's been running great for me. I love it!
pretre
I just started long war a week or two ago. By the time I finish, they'll have the bugs in 2 worked out. ;)

It's been running great for me. I love it! To be honest, what I like is the varied tactics that are possible... Sniping, flanking, ambushes, etc. Tight turn limits eliminate all that freedom.... Serious turn off for me.
savion47
I find my frame rate dropping a lot during loading screens seemingly at random. Adjusting the graphic settings seems to only have a very minor effect on the FPS. My computer is no slacker either. This is really the first game I have played since the upgrade that has had any issues. I personally like the turn limits to complete missions. It makes every mission have a good deal of urgency. I am loving it.
Duckman
Urgency is one thing... Are you guys feeling like your strategies are constrained in any way? The reviews I saw were saying that unless you were marching straight at the extraction zone that you were not going to make it and that Overwatch was a thing of the past. Would you agree with that kind of comment or do you feel that you still have a use for all four types or soldiers?
smashthedean
I haven't been feeling like the turn limits are too bad. On most missions, I still seem to have no problem sneaking up with my concealed squad, setting up ambushes, and making it to the objective no problem. The fact that Specialists can hack objectives from range makes a big difference as do the Ranger's extra Stealth abilities. Currently I'm running 2x Assault, 2x Specialist, 1x Grenadier, and 1x Sharpshooter. Also not all missions have turn limits. I also haven't felt any performance issues that have affected my gameplay. Maybe a couple of scenes of the Skyranger being choppy while dropping my guys off, but once I'm actually in the game everything runs smooth. I am definitely enjoying the hell out of it so far and recommend it to everyone that liked Enemy Unknown/Within or likes tactical turn-based games at all. dashneeb
Been loving it. It's been super good, and it doesn't allow you to dawdle too long. It's super hard in the beginning but once you start getting upgrades it gets a little easier.
michaels
I've been liking it. It definitely starts hard then lightens up a bit once the armor upgrades start. The load times definite turn to [big bad swear word]e the longer I play. Memory leak I'm guessing. Restarting the game every couple hours takes care of it. I'm kind of torn on the sniper. I thought they'd be cool but they seem to miss a lot. I haven't got too far in levels but they don't do an extreme amount of damage (at least for me). The rangers seem better overall for killing stuff. I never played xcom 1 so I'm probably doing it wrong.

dashneeb
The Sniper is awesome, especially depending on how you build them. I have one Sharpshooter who is just a freaking death machine. Rangers are amazing and completely able to tear apart squads easy enough. But they're also my favorite class, especially back when they were assault in X-Com 1. Not that you'd know... :)
michaels
Here's how much I know about this game: I made it fairly far & started running into archons & those giant mecs that lay down the aoe as well as their normal support guys (shield bearers, lancers, etc)...& dying. Over & over dying like a champ. It wasn't too bad when it was just archons. Still super hard but I could usually pull it off. Last night I realized I could upgrade the gts. Seriously. I've got a maxed out ranger & 2 almost maxed grenadiers & I JUST NOW figured out I could be running 6 members. /facepalm. So now the game is fairly easy again & I'm completely sure that I have no idea what I'm doing & probably missed something :)
Guest
Got this one, recently. I like it. Definitely high learning curve. Gameplay seems to crash often, on the PS4. Save function seems to crash it. But gameplay is pretty random, so I don't mind having to create new games, often. I think I'm on new game number 5. Mechanically, I love the game. Not a fan of the setting, as it's a bit depressing for me. Anyway, can't seem to get the multi-player to work. Maybe their just aren't other players online late at night, looking for Xcom2 multi-player....
pretre
X-Com 2 is a great game and if you are a hardcore fan, they just released Long War 2 which makes it event better.
Guest
Revisited this game while "waiting" for my leg to heal. I'm terrible at this game, but I like it. Finally finished the main campain (on "Rookie" difficulty). Still don't like the setting or plot, but this is a good game. Was very disappointed that it doesn't go on forever, and actually has an end. While I am bad at the game, I did figure out that my play style needing adjusting due to the way the game is designed: -the DLC for those "green" bosses makes the game really difficult to learn on. By enabling the DLC, but not actually doing the quests, the Green bosses never show up. -The game intends for players to use the save function to go back and try again. Playing on ironman mode is a horrible way to learn. ****** PS4 just released a "War of Chosen" expansion, which I bought, but I'm burned out on this game for now, so no review for now. pretre
War of the Chosen is supposed to be super good. Also, if you want more of a game, Long War is the way to go.

SigurdBC
War of the Chosen is awesome. I beat the game a couple of days ago and, similar to Enemy Within for XCOM, it feels like a whole new game and not just a dlc pack. The three new factions that you have access to (Reapers, Skirmishers, and Templars) really bring a very nice flavor to the game and they in and of themselves feel very unique from one another. I noticed right away that there were many improvements to the base game with HEAVILY reduced wait times for mission starts (2-3 seconds down from 1-2 minutes for me), better graphic quality even at lower settings, and less hitching and framerate drops. Some fun bugs I found were that if an enemy gets critically hit and dies their model will stay upright on the field and it looks like they didn't die even though there is no health bar, in addition to some teleporting enemies as they moved during their turn. However, these are minor and relatively funny instead of wrecking your game. I would highly recommend this game as I haven't been engrossed this much in a game in a while.

InfestedKerrigan
I picked up the full collection for 9.99. Just played the tut, having no idea what I was walking into. Funny how familiar it ended up being.
